I don't normally buy Chanel products but thought I'd treat myself as I was going to a wedding and wanted a perfect match for my dress. The polish was difficult to apply as it was too thick and streaked very easily. Within the hour, it was chipped and unsightly. In future I'll be saving my money and sticking to the cheaper brands!

A shame that these just don't last long enough.

My husband travels around the world with his job and loves to bring me gifts when he has been away. After 20 years together, he knows me very well with handbags and shoes guaranteed to make me squeal with happiness, but I also love perfume and make-up. After a recent trip to France I was presented with a beautiful black and white Chanel bag filled with goodies. There was a new Coco Madmoiselle Night fragrance and a handful of nail polishes. My favourite colour was Blue Satin, a gorgeous dark navy, but there was also a pillar-box red, a fuscia pink and Peridot, a shimmering metallic green which turns to gold in certain lights. Naturally I was delighted with these beautiful treasures and decided to try out the blue colour straight away. I always use a base coat under polish to prevent my nails becoming stained and my favourite is Nails Inc. Caviar base coat. Chanel are the best looking polishes I have ever seen. The packaging is gorgeous, a sleek heavy base with a shiny black lid embossed with the Chanel logo in gold. The lid comes off to reveal a smaller, ridged lid which has a brush attached. The brush is a good size and the colour goes on well. The blue was stunning but even better after the second coat. My nails were dry after about 10 minutes when I applied a top coat (also Nails Inc. Caviar). I was going out for a drink that evening but while I was getting ready I noticed that the colour had chipped on a few of my nails already. I was really disappointed because I can't bear chipped polish but didn't have time to re-do them so off I went. I got a few comments about how lovely the colour was but by the end of the evening the polish was literally peeling off in big clumps. I have used it since on my toenails and it lasted for a few days but the slightest knock and it chips off easily. I usually buy Nails Inc. colours and these last really well at a good few quid cheaper than the £15-£18 Chanel ones. I had expected a high quality product from Chanel and they certainly look good but I'm afraid they just don't perform as well as other cheaper brands. I would not buy them for myself as they do not even last for one evening.

I bought a Chanel nail varnish recently, vendetta, it looks lovely but really doesn't last at all unless you put a couple of top coats on, a disappointment as they aren't cheap.

Great luxury nail polish that everyone will notice

I have built up quite a vast collection of Chanel polishes over the years, and I can truly say firstly that they do most definitely LAST. Unlike cheaper nail polish brands Chanel's do most definitely NOT go at all gloopy and thick, therefore depending on how often you paint your nails, you can be assured your polish will last! The colours of the nail polishes is what initially attracted me to the brand. The numerous collections released each year with unique colours, as well as limited edition ones. These do sell out fast, but get in there quick, as dupes are most definitely not easily found. Classic polish colours for me most definitely include Particulière, and my favourite Rouge Noir. I find that Chanel manicures are easily recognisable, and add a easy bit of glamour into your look. The application itself is fairly easy, however I have found some of the colours are thin, and need 3 coats to build up to an intense colour. The longevity of the products is a bit hit and miss without a base coat and top coat. However if you do have the time to spend on your nails, the manicure will definitely last, looking glossy and great. Yes the price is very steep for a nail polish, however they will last you years, will make you feel great, and look great!!

I have several colours of Chanel polish, Jade Rose being my current favourite. I read somewhere else that only one coat is required but I have to disagree. To get a complete even coverage, 2/3 coats are required but I feel that is pretty normal for polish. I just love the feeling of luxury when even handling the bottle, the packaging is beautiful. The choice of colours is fabulous and the brush is of a superior quality. No loose bristles at all. I'd say the colour lasts pretty well for a week then you have to start thinking about re-doing your nails. I use my hands a lot. They gets lots of punishment so I feel that's pretty impressive. I'm sure if I had a different lifestyle they could last a while longer, but sadly that's not to be!

A little bit of luxury at your fingertips - Is glamour worth the price?!

Reading back through it looks as though I have been reviewing more gifts (Hence high end products) than my budget alternative. And today will be no different. Except. This is really pushing the boat out because I can honestly say that the cost of this product, quite frankly, astounds me. The product up for review is the Chanel Nail Colour. This particular bottle was given to me as a gift but I have brought them for family members in the past and if I remember correctly the retail from £16-17.00! So, what are we getting for this pricey polish? Firstly, this is Chanel. So. In my books I feel a million dollars when I use it. It was beautifully packaged and there was a LOT of excitement opening my gift because what can make me feel more glamorous than something as lovely as Chanel? The packaging is, as would be exected, stylish and looks expensive. The whole thing comes in a little box with the standard Chanel branding - A black background with white writing and the classic gold band across the bottom (I say this like I own a lot of their products... I don't, I am fortunate that a friend works for the company and I am lucky enough to try samples by them!) Inside this (very cute) little box is the product itself. As with all the Chanel polishes it is s standard size and shape glass bottle (Really not any difference here to other cheaper brands) They have gone a step further in incorporating another cap so to fit the Chanel logo on the top (It makes it look special in my opinion) But, and I fully agree if this was their reason for doing so, they have made it so they can be unscrewed to leave you with a "standard" (what you would expect from a nail polish) top which is much easier to hold when painting your nails. As for the actual nail varnish I have to say I am a great fan, I mean, do not get me wrong, I was very pleased to receive this but I'll admit I was sceptical that something so expensive would really deliver more quality than cheaper brands. I must admit they did not disappoint. The product itself applies easily and evenly, giving good coverage with an even colour shade in one coat (By now I am just a little excited. I fond that the brush is just thick enough t distribute enough product without making it look like you have been finger painting with children all afternoon. I also found there were no lose fibres which you do sometimes find with cheaper synthetic wands. As expected Chanel polishes come in a choice of shades, they have their "classic" colours and, from what I have noticed, their seasonal, on trend colours. I felt that the product dies well and actually, fairly quickly. I found it to be pretty sturdy, once fully dry I wasn't able to easily mark my nails (I like to test these things for review) and it was really difficult to chip, even without a top coat. As for wear time I have managed about a week each time I have worn it so far This is until minor chips at the top, my nails and I were good for about 2 weeks before it really looked like it needed doing again) I personally think it is doing well, I really don't do things that are preventative to chipping nail polish and we seem to be doing pretty well so far. So far as re-purchasing this product. I think I would. But it would have to be for a special occasion, like my wedding day because, to be honest, there is a difference, and if you can afford it then go for a little bottle of luxury, but for that money I would be able to purchase several shades of cheaper lines of polish and only lose perhaps one or 2 days of wear. If you want to splash out, or want to get a lovely gift to make someone special feel special then I say go for it. I'm just not sure my nails need this type of luxury every day. This review may also appear on Ciao!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Never again

I am obsessed with nail polishes and I have built up a sizable collection. A while ago I had a little splurge and I bought three Chanel nail polishes in one go - in black satin, orange fizz and my favourite colour rouge carat which is a limited edition (so I've been told). The selection of colour is impressive and I've loved choosing them, but oh boy, am I in for a surprise when I went home to try them out. The quality of the nail polish is just so bad! The texture is thick, which makes application very difficult and streaky. I have had to redo my nails almost every time I use the Chanel polish, I just can't stand the flaws and streaks on my nails. On some occasions, I tried to apply 2-3 layers in order to make it look smooth, but the result is (if possible) even worse - it's like I have coated my nails with paper marche or something, so thick and ugly! The colours are great, I'll give you that, but only on the rarest occasions do my nails look okay. I expect a lot more from Chanel. I haven't touched the nail polish I bought for a while now, and before I write this review I checked them out and oh my! It's become even thicker than before - especially my black satin one, it looks more like tar now! It would be impossible to use ever again. I am never going to buy nail polish from Chanel again. For similar prices, I'd recommend OPI or YSL - their nail polishes are so much better and easier to apply!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Not a bad nail varnish but in my opinion not worth the price

I was bought a bottle of Chanel Nail Polish for Christmas so I am unsure of the exact cost but I imagine it will be pretty pricey (around the £13 I think)! I was once advised years ago by a friend who worked as a make up artist that the one cosmetic you should never spend a fortune on is nailvarnish, as cheap ones are equally as good and although this was a quite nice product she was certainly right! The first coat I put on looked fairly streaky, it was fairly watery in consistency - although this is not always a bad thing as gloopy thick nail varnish can be very difficult to use. However once I had added the second coat it looked fine. It was quite nice and glossy and overall I was pleased with the colour & appearance. The very next day however one of my nails had chipped slightly, by the following day a few of them had and 4 days in they were all a bit of a mess! So, to summarise it was more or less like most other cheaper nail varnishes in it's appearance and didn't last as well as many. Chanel do have a nice range of classic and unusual colours however and if money is not an issue then there is no reason you shouldn't buy it.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Amazing polish that everyone really needs to try.

Chanel does many things well and their nail polish it not any different. I was lucky to get some Chanel nail polish as a Christmas present one year and my love affair with them has continued since then, with me buying it in a few different countries. It is not too expensive as nail polishes go for what you get in the end, it lasts so long because of its staying power and the thickness of it. One coat is all that is required with Le vernis, even with the lighter colours which is totally unusual for nail polish. It stays on the nails for such a long time in comparison to other nail polishes, yes it does chip sometimes but all nail polish does. I never put a top coat on top of Chanel because I do not feel that it is needed because it has such a high shine to it and stays on so well without worries of chipping even when washing dishes or doing housework etc. I really cannot recommend this enough to everyone out there, I know that there are other polishes out there that are so much cheaper than this, but it really is worth the money for the results that you get, and you do not need to sit there waiting on 3 coats drying which can take an age. And the one coat that you only need to apply dries in super quick times, honestly I have never seen another nail polish dry this quickly. To top all the other positives off, it comes in lovely package, in its own box and the bottle is square which makes it so much easier to store than those round bottles. Also the no excess ever builds up around the top of the bottle like it does with other nail polishes, and the smell is minimal. There is such a wide range of colours in Le Vernis section and they often bring out one off colours that are seasonal, meaning even more choice. If you really love painting your nails I recommend that you treat them to a bit of Chanel, you won't regret it!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Not worth it at all

I was taken in by Keira Knightley wearing Chanel black nail polish in the Chanel Coco Madamoiselle advert that I just had to buy it for myself. I did not want to be the average goth and buy black nail polish from just anyone, I wanted it to be classy. This nail varnish is more of a lacquour instead of a polish as it comes out quite shiny and thick, and hence you need to have a lot of patience and a life of leisure for you to enjoy this varnish. As it is thick, you only need one coat, however it takes a LONG time to dry properly and buy checking if it is truly dry lightly with your finger, you dent your fingerprint into the varnish and it loses its glossy shininess *facepalm* and it is back to square one. It is quite chip resistant indeed but it definitely is not DENT resistant, you know when the polish is thick and shiny and perfect and buy doing some sort of manual labour task as washing the dishes the nail varnish has not chipped off and the full colour remains but the smooth finish is no longer smooth and small little dents in the lacquour appear and that is incredibly annoying if you are a perfectionist. I would say this Chanel polish would only suit those who are secretaries or models who do not do much manual labour if you want to maintain its perfect state. Not for everyday wear at all.

Nice colours, but would not recommend it due to poor quality

Personal Experience I got the Chanel Le Vernis Nail Color Colour Polish Particuliere No. 505 for Christmas last year. Excited about the prospect of colouring my nails with the high-class Chanel, I applied it instantly (this time without any initial see-through nail strengthening coats). 30 minutes later, the nail varnish had chipped. Not particularly impressive, I had to admit, but I figured I should apply it properly with the see-through varnish sandwiching the Chanel nail varnish and protecting it from whatever evil. This time it took twice the time to chip - A WHOLE HOUR! Not at all impressed with this product. While the colour is cute and very stylish, the quality is just terrible, particularly for the price it was. Later on, I got a nail varnish in a similar colour for free from a magazine and it hasn't chipped for over a week. Low blow? I think so. General Information The nail polish is sold for about £17.99 and is 13ml. There are about 33 colours to choose from, both metallic and matte colours. Advantages - A wide range of colours Disadvantages - Chips very easily - Too expensive and poor quality Conclusively, while I love the wide range of colours available for this range, the quality was shockingly poor and kept chipping, regardless of what bottom+top coats I used and how many times I applied it. Therefore I would not recommend it - you'd probably be better off with cheaper alternatives like Bourjois or Rimmel.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

There must be much better long-lasting products out there, compared to this overpriced one.

For my birthday I was excited to discover that one of my friends had splurged out on a present for me of Chanel nail polish. Now as I am a student I am quite skint, so I always seem to stick with common cheap brands such as Maybelline and Rimmel, and to be perfectly honestly I have never tried out any Chanel makeup products before. Saying this, I have always wanted to and here was my chance. The nail polish was the colour 'Pulsion' and was a bright hot pink colour. As soon as I brushed the liquid onto my nails it looked sheen and smooth, and the colour was perfect. As this was just before going on holiday to Ibiza the colour was perfectly suited, as it would compliment any clothes colour worn on a summer holiday. The brush was appropriate and when applied, the nail polish spread evenly and in a good consistency. The bottle itself is quite attractive, but very simple. I was kind of disappointed as I thought the packaging and bottle would be a bit more extravagant, but then again Chanel is famous for it's sophisticated simplicity. The nail polish did dry more quickly than I first expected. This could be seen as an advantage or a flaw, as you don't have to wait around long (suited for the impatient type like me), but then again it's easier to make a nail look messy/gloopy if you first make a mistake and have to go over/relayer. After the nail polish drys, it gives a gorgeous sheen and shine, and your nails look almost literally polished. The effect was really attractive, but unfortunately this didn't last very long. Chanel claims that their unique formula (quote) 'has a precise concentration of solvents giving a hard, resistant gloss film'. But this nail polish is one of the most unresisting nail polish I've ever owned. Less than a day later, my nails were already chipping! This really disappointed me, considering Chanel is so expensive, I would have thought the quality of this nail polish would have been a lot better. In reality, my Rimmel lasting finish nail polish lasted longer than this one. Although I didn't buy it, I think Chanel nail polish costs around £10-£15, highly expensive! This product has left me wondering whether Chanel actually do some quality products, or if it's just the name that sells. It has definitely put me off buying makeup myself from this brand!

          Advantages

          Disappointing not worth the money

I'm a big fan of dark nail colours, i'm always wearing black, deep reds, navy, brown etc on my nails. I thought I would splurge on an expensive nail varnish hoping that it would be of a better quality than the cheaper ones I was used to. I bought the shade 'black satin' which is just a basic shiny black colour costing me £14 from a Chanel counter in House of Fraser. One thing I like about the product is the packaging, it has a large black lid covering a small black screw lid. IT has the typical Chanel logo on the front, and the lower part is made of glass which enables you to clearly see the colour of the product. When I bought the item I was eager to test it out. When I applied the varnish it went on very smoothly & easily, I used 3 strokes on each nail and applied 2 layers. The colour looked perfect, it was very shiny, I didn't need a top coat. At the time I loved the product. It was only about 2 days later when my nails looked very chipped and the colour looked quite dull, totally different to the 2 days previous when it was first applied. To be fair most cheap nail varnishes do chip after a few days but I expected more from Chanel. I continued to use the product afterwards but thought it was quite an average nail varnish...not worth the money. About one month later, the product became very clumpy, hairs were falling out of the brush, the varnish was very tacky and stringy....basically how most nail varnishes go after about 6months! I tried putting the item in the fridge & putting drops of nail varnish remover into it to try to help to thin the product but nothing worked. I was very disappointed. Overall this product just isn't worth the money....it hasn't lasted as long as many of my cheap nail varnishes and it chips very easily. Yes Chanel colour's are very nice, but the quality just isn't good. I wouldn't buy again.

Designer brand, but not designer quality

I got a bottle of Chanel's rouge noire Nail Polish for Christmas last year. i was really happy with the present - the presentation is gorgeous and it looked like a great quality. i was really disappointed then when I tried the nail polish. I know chanel products are expensive and so I thought the quality would match the expensive nail polish. I don't normally spend a lot on nail polish; instead normally stick to £3-5 per bottle, which generally lasts atleast a week without chipping. I applied an undercoat before using the Chanel nail polish. I then applied the polish. I absolutely love the colour so I was really pleased with that. It was also easy to apply with a good size brush which was smooth and spread well. I applied two coats, waiting the first coat was dry until I applied the next. It was over the next couple of days that the polish began to chip very badly. I don't do any manual labour, I rarely do the washing up so the only time my nails would've been exposed to any potential damage (eg hot water) would've been in the bath or the shower. Compared to other, cheaper nail polishes the chanel one didn't last as long, and chipped within a few days. I was really disappointed with the quality of the polish and have returned to using cheaper nail polish instead. Whilst the packaging is beautiful, the only thing that suggests quality with this nail polish is the expensive price and the designer brand.

            Advantages

May be expensive but money well spent

Product: Chanel Miami Peach Nail Colour From: Boots Price: £16.85 Size: 13ml If you've read my previous review you'll know that i'm a huge fan of nail polishes and have tried many different brands over the years. Ranging from the cheaper drug store brands upto the higher end more expensive brand names. I had read a lot of good reviews on the Chanel Nail Polishes over the years so one one day whilst browsing the Chanel counter in Boots I decided to try one of them out for myself. Chanel offers a wide range of beautiful shades, it was quite a challenge in itself to decide which colour to actually choose, especially for someone as indecisive as myself. In the end I chose the Miami Peach shade, a light coral colour which looked girly, feminine and very pretty. I paid £16.85 for the 13ml bottle of nail polish, admitedly very expensive compared to some other brands out there at the moment, but hey what can i say, curiousity got the best of me and i wanted to see if all the rave reviews out there were as good as they were saying. The Nail Colour comes packaged in a black box with gold trimming and white lettering which states the brand name, nail polish colour number and it's shade. There isn't too much information stated on the packaging, just a warning that it's nail enamel and should avoid heat and flames. The bottle itself is a cubed, chunky glass bottle with a matt black large lid. Very sturdy, classy and expensive looking. When unscrewing the lid from the bottle I was quite surprised to find that the nail polish brush wasn't attached to the lid of the polish, instead there's another screw top lid underneath which the brush is attached to this. I felt this was a unique touch for Chanel and something which set them apart from the rest of the brands who normally have the brush attached to the lids of their nail polishes. When applying the polish to my nails I found the brush to be flexible but sturdy and an easy grip whilst holding. The application was very easy and no spillages were made. I found the polish to be of a fabulous smooth consistency which glided easily onto my nails, I only needed one application coat, it dried onto the nails really quickly. The shade was just the same on my nails as it was in the bottle, very glossy and shiny, an extremely beautiful shade. The Nail Polish remained on my nails for at least 6 days and remained chip free, i'm extremely impressed as I use my hands in the office/home consistently daily. Pleased to see the overall result was a good one. Overall the polish is expensive but a product which really works and does exactly which you want it too, definitely my luxury treat and money well spent. As I stated above Chanel Nail Polishes come in very shades, below i've listed a few: *Rouge Noir (this seems to be a favourite, I always read the most and best reviews on this one) * Ballerina * Splendeur (next on my to try list, vivd dark pink-y colour) * Black Satin * Golden Sand * Rose Insolent I'd definitely recommend the Chanel Nail Polish, 5/5 stars for me.
