      Boots cover up

I get the odd spot now and again on my face or on my chest which, because I am quite faired skin, really shows up and blares out, "hello, I'm here, I'm red and I'm painful!!" I don't get them very often though thank goodness, but when I do I like to cover them up because they are quite annoying and not a nice look. I never like to spend a lot fo money on a cover up as I only use it once a month or so so I don't want to spend £20 or so on a Benefit brand or something similar so this Boots natural collection cover up stick is perfect. At only £1.99 it was a very cheap buy indeed and although not the best quality and not something I would purchase if I had to use it everyday for my needs it is fine. The cover up comes in two colours, fair and medium and I chose fair because I am quite pale skinned and so didn't want the spot I covered up to look obvious. The fair was a good choice as it's quite light and matches my skin colour well. The cover up stick comes in a pretty basic looking white tube, much like a lipstick and is in the form of a lip stick too. To access the stick you basically just twist at the bottom and the stick comes up and down. There is a plastic cover which goes over the stick too to keep it safe and clean in your make up bag although sometimes I do find it falls off which is a bit annoying. I find the best way to use this is by getting a small brush and painting a bit of the concealer on this and then dabbing in onto the spot in question. I tried using the actual stick when I first got it but I found that too much of the product came off at one time, even though it is quite thin at the top point but I was not able to blend it well and it looked obvious that I had covered up a spot. With the brush I can just use the tiniest amount and it works well. The coverage stays for quite a few hours and doesn't really go too crusty until the end of the day when my make up is looking a bit tired anyway. All in all an ok cover up if you only need to use it occasionally.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Hate it

Sometimes I buy cosmetics which seems like a great idea at the time, then I get them home, start to use them, and quickly realise it was a complete waste of money. Boot's Natural Collection Cover Up Stick is one of those make up items I just wish I hadn't bothered with. It only cost me £1.99 so it's not like I wasted a lot of money, but it's still annoying that I thought it was going to be a good idea for covering my dark under eye circles and the occasional spot. I am in my thirties and yet I still suffer form occasion spots especially on my chin. I use Clearasil lotion to help dry tot spot up but someone suggested that I try using a concealer to hide the blemish and redness. I bought Boots Natural Collection Cover up stick in Fair (as I am so pale), to see if this helped. I don't like to pay a fortune for heavily branded make up and as I have used Boot's own brand make up and facial / body products lots of times, and been really pleased with them, I had no reason to think that this would be absolutely rubbish. The first thing I noticed about this cover up stick is that whilst it professes to be 'fair' - it's actually really dark. Wherever I put it on my face, you can really see the area where it's been applied. It also doesn't blend well, it's drying and I feel like I have to pull on my skin in order to try to get it to blend. It ends up looking cakey and nasty and its so very obvious that I am trying to cover up dark circles and sore pimples, so now I think that it looks far better if I don't use it at all. The cover up stick looks like a little lipstick and it comes out of the container by twisting the end. The packaging is plastic and white and quite cheap and tatty looking, and it's cracked twice in the short space of time I have had it. It sits in my little make up bag in the bottom of my hand bag and I swear I never place anything too heavy in there, yet despite this, the outer plastic is cracked all the way down, from top to bottom. Overall, it's been a complete and total waste of money. The shade is wrong, the texture is dry and cakey and it doesn't blend well. Instead of covering spots and dark circles, I actually feel that it manages to accentuate them further. Not the sort of look I am after, really. Total waste of money and certainly not recommended.

        Will not be buying again

This was the first concealer I ever bought when I was 16 and had a massive spot at the end of my nose, I she also bought it once or twice since here is my review. Packaging This is in the standard white packaging with natural collection written in black writing on the site. This packaged like a lipstick. As the packaging is white it can get really dirty in a makeup bag and the writing pubs off easily. The colour I picked cool which is the lightest side and this suited me just right. This is one that works better under the foundation as it sets an ok base but is hard to blend in on top. There are people paler than me and it worries me there is nothing here for them. The formulation This is very drying (unless its been sat out in the sun for an hour or two) and is very hard to blend. Every time I bought it is was because I was on an extreme budget and this was the cheapest I could find. With a lot of work it does blend but then it doesn't cover the offender making it very hard to use. The price This is just £1.99 and there is normally. 3 for £5 deal on the range. This can be bought from boots instore and online and the natural collection is normally well stocked in the local ones I use. Conclusion I don't like writing bad reviews but I tried with this concealer a number of times and if just wasn't for me. The face powder in this range is amazing though.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Cheap as chips give it a go!

I started buying this at the age of 12 which is 7 years ago (wow time flies!). As a young girl starting to experiment with makeup this was a perfect start as it was cheap. This was better than wasting money on expensive makeup I didn't know how to use or I would waste as I explored what was suitable for me. I still use this concealer and I still haven't replaced it with a more expensive brand like I have the rest of my makeup collection. This is for one simple reason, I haven't found one better! This concealer is in a stick form and comes like a lipstick, you twist the bottom and the stick is revealed. I have this one in fair which matches my skin tone perfectly. I have always suffered with spots as a teenager and I have also recently started noticing my dark circles under my eyes. I find this perfect to use over spots and blemishes. It gives a light coverage so you still know the spot is there but it is not as noticeable. This concealer tends to dry my skin so I actually feel like this is a little spot treatment for me. For me it dries out my spot until it just becomes a flake of dry skin and drops off. However when trying to cover red dry skin it highlights the problem area by making it appear cakey and raised. In this situation a more moisturising concealer is preferred. It also doesn't last well throughout the day and I find it does need reapplying. If the area with the concealer on is touched the concealer does easily transfer. As for sorting out my dark circles, due to its dry texture I do not like to use it. It doesn't apply/blend very evenly and it makes under my eyes feel particularly dry and unpleasant. I prefer a concealer with a more liquid consistency as this also feels refreshing. Overall I will continue to use this concealer to cover up my spots as it really helps me to get rid of them and I am yet to find a better product for the money to do the job for me. I have recently tried Maybelline (I think it is) Fit me concealer and funnily enough this doesn't suit my skin tone at all and I am yet to find one that matches me like this one does. The only other annoying thing about this concealer is that the packaging is easily damaged and it is very easy to have it ruined either in the shop of the stick will just snap for no reason. Again this highlights its cheapness but I have had more good experiences than bad. Overall, I would recommend giving this a go because if you don't like it you will only be wasting £1.99. I don't think its for everyone. I would recommend it mainly to people who have problem skin as this dries out the area and covers it up at the same time. However it doesn't provide complete coverage. Thanks for reading.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A necessary for a bad spot day

I really don't like using cover-up, but something it's necessary to try and hide a horrible spot.  It's make-up for emergencies only and lives at the bottom of my make-up bag, therefore one stick lasts literally years. Although I don't really like the stuff sometimes it can be a bit of a life saver.  It's for those difficult spot situations where just foundation and powder is not enough.  So a cover-up stick with what is really extra thick foundation is needed.  This cover-up stick is basically like a lipstick in packaging appearance, winding up and down, texture and even smell, plus it can be applied directly to the skin.  Sometimes I apply directly, other times I apply onto my finger first and then smooth the cover-up into the "problem area" with my finger, all depends on the severity of the situation!   Boots Natural Collection cover up is available in a variety of tones, I have to use the lightest one, and even then in the winter I find it can be a little dark if I use too much.  I do find this cover-up covers up very well and the texture of the cover-up is very smooth and easy to apply, although I also think there is a fine line between covering a spot up or looking like you have tried too hard to cover it up and drawing even more attention to the spot.  I like to cover-up and have it look as natural as possible, although sometimes easier said than done. I don't find this cover-up makes my spot I have applied it to any worse, which is good, because I do feel some make ups can aggravate spots further.  It also washes off easily with facial wash and water.   At £1.99 I don't think you can really go wrong with this cover-up stick.  It seems to work as well as any other more expensive brands I have tried.  I wish I didn't need it, but until I never get another zit then this will be a must-have for the bottom of my make-up bag for those desperate situations.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Everything you want in a concealor for half the price!

Natural collection cover up stick is a small concealer that covers imperfections, dark circles and redness. It works on all skin types and comes in two different shades. This product costs £1.99 and is available from Boots. As a student the price of this product is very attractive and at £1.99 you can't really go wrong! I started using this product when I was younger and I haven't changed product since as I see no reason to when there is nothing wrong with this concealor. People may be put off by the fact that this product is so cheap but really who is going to know what brand of concealor you use... this product is the definition of cheap and cheerful! The texture of the concealor is smooth and it goes on to the skin easily, blending the product is also easy but you may want to help it along by also applying moisturiser before you apply your make-up. The only thing I would say about this product is that it probably isn't ideal for people with drier skin or to use it on drier areas because it doesn't tend to go on as easy. I tend to not use it on my forehead where my skin is driest but other areas are fine. The shade I use is "Fair" because I have quite a light skin tone and it blends nicely into the foundation I use. This product also comes in "Medium" which I find can be good when I've been on holiday and have tanned a bit because it isn't too dark and still looks natural. It provides good coverage of blemishes and dark circles, although on spots I wouldn't advise using too much or it can highlight the spots even more which is the opposite of what you want... Also, the size of the concealor makes it very convenient to put into your handbag or a clutch for on a night out for a quick top up or to cover a sudden spot! Overall, you can't really go wrong with this product for £1.99!! Its easy application and price make it ideal for anyone not looking to spend a fortune on a concealor. I would definitely recommend this product because really you can't go wrong with it! The only thing I don't like about it is that it isn'y very suitable for people with drier skin.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          cheap and cheerful

I love trying out different brands of makeup and a few months ago I decided to pick up the Boots Natural Collection cover stick along with a few other little treats because they were on offer and were really cheap to buy. The Natural Collection make up range is useable on sensitive skin, it is dermatologically tested and is fragrance free. I have very sensitive skin and have found that it is very pleasant to use on my skin as it does not irritate it or make me come out in a rash. This cover up stick comes in two shades which are fair and medium, I usually wear the fair shade as I am quite pale, however when I am wearing tan I cannot use this stick as the medium shade isn't dark enough. I think that the only problem I have with this stick is that it doesn't come in a good enough range of colours. Applying the product This stick is really easy to apply, you simply rub the stick over the area you want to cover up, for example a spot or under your eyes to cover up the bags that sometimes form under your eyes and they blend it in with either a small brush or your finger. I found that the makeup on this stick is really creamy and velvety which feels nice on my skin and also makes it easy to blend and good to use along with foundation or powder. Results I am really happy with the results that I have gotten from this stick. It gives good coverage from spots and also covers up the bags under my eyes when they are really dark. It spreads onto my skin really easily and blends into my skin lovely, covering almost every blemish or under my eyes. This cover stick has quite a bit of staying power, however I find that after a long day at work, sometimes it needs topped up in the evening time as definitely wouldn't last from morning to bedtime. Price and Availability You can buy a stick of this cover up makeup for £1.99 in Boots stores or online. Also they usually put the Natural Collection brand on offer on 3 for 2 deals so it is best to keep an eye out for this. I think that this is a great price for this cover up as it works really well and is considerably cheaper than other brands of make up on the market. Overall I think that this is a great, low priced cover stick, and if you can get one in your shade, I would definitely recommend buying it for your makeup bag. Overall I would give this product 4 out of 5 stars. *also on ciao under lorrainek90

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A bargain!

I love finding makeup products that aren't going to break the bank and one's that will work. I think this is why I love the Natural Collection range of make-up products from Boots. Good quality products with everything under £2 and more often than not they are on offers of 3 items for £5. It really is worth a look as there are some true bargains to be had and the concealer stick is one of them. For £1.99 I wasn't really expecting a great deal from the concealer, I do have some acne scarring and the usual bags under my eyes from when I've been overworked which is more often than not! It comes in three shades of Fair, Medium and Dark. I picked Fair which is the lightest one of the three as I have very pale skin. The medium shade did look very orangey and I think it could be quite hard to find a shade to match your skin type if you have darker skin than an olive tone. The product comes in a simple white tube with the Natural Collection logo on the side and is identical to the lipstick containers and with me being so clumsy I'm quite lucky I've never applied the lipstick to my face on one of the early mornings. It comes in a twist up stick and can be applied directly from the tube onto the skin or I prefer to apply with a concealer brush just to help stop spreading of bacteria onto my face. The consistency is quite thick with a medium coverage and once on the skin it is very creamy but blends very well into the skin and I don't find I have any tell tale signs once underneath my foundation. I was slightly worried that it would be slightly orange toned on my skin as I am so pale but I haven't found this at all. I don't think it works amazingly on dark circles but on redness on the skin I think it is really good. I would definitely recommend applying with a brush as you get far better coverage and finish than applying with fingers. The concealer has no fragrance which I am always pleased about as I am very fussy with fragranced products and I usually find that the cheaper ranges of makeup usually put in a really artificial scent to them. Once on the skin there isn't any sheen or greasy feeling and I don't think it goes onto the skin cakey or feels too heavy. Another huge plus is that it hasn't broken my skin out and I don't feel that it clogs up my skin either. Overall I really would recommend this product, on dark circles it isn't great but for the price you can afford to pop a few layers on for a good coverage. I think that this is far better than the majority of concealers I have tried and for under £2 you can't really go wrong.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

An ok product but not great sadly!

One thing I really do enjoy purchasing is make up.......well it is when I'm treating myself to a new lip colour or eyeshadow or something like that........ Not the basics though I find it a rather mundane job lol! At 37 years old I still suffer the occasional break out of spots, I have discoloured skin patches and suffer with greasy skin. The reason I bought this particular product was A) The price was right and B) Because I wanted to conceal spots, darkness under my eyes and the disolouration I have on my forehead in the main. At only £1.99 a product for anything from this range (though more often than not any 3 items are on offer for a fiver) I treated myself to three new items for what the price is (and some much more in some cases) of just one product such as this from other well know brands in Boots and this being a Boots own branded product it seemed like an ideal little purchase to me! The Packaging: This comes in a very simple looking lipstick like tube really which is white and plastic and on the outer of the casing we are told that it is Natural Collection. The inner tube pulls away from the outer case and we simply are left with a twist up to use and down to put the product away style of action to use this and on the base of it we are told what it is and the colour is stated though I can't see a size stated on mine and I have consulted the Boots website to see if I could find a weight but I can't but its a decent sized product none the less and the case although rather cheap looking is easy to use and robust enough Using It: This is available in two colours which are Fair and Medium and being as I have Casper the friendly ghost type of skin I went for the Fair option which is the lightest of the two shades on offer of course. To use this you can either dab it directly on to where you want a bit of coverage and blend it in, use a foundation brush whatever and personally I simply dot this onto clean skin (over moisturiser and before applying the rest of my make up over it such as foundation and the likes) and I use a finger to gently blend it in. The consistency of this concealer is rather good. It comes away from the tube rather thinly and not too heavy at all and is really easy to blend into my skin and the colour option I went for really was light and not one bit orangy in tone at all which is a problem I have found with a lot of products such as this I have bought in the past. It has no fragrance either really and isn't greasy feeling and all in all the application process of this is really simple which I do appreciate. This doesn't sit heavy on spots and the likes though I don't find the coverage very good with this at all to be honest especially on the more shiny spots that we have and that really once I have applied foundation over the top of this it doesn't calm the look down of angry areas at all even if I put another layer of this over the top of foundation as well before pressed powder. It really just doesn't work very well for me sadly and I can't really on it at all. However I do find this to help with light and slight colour discoluration, not anything too dark though and I do find that this is rather good for covering up dark under eye circles and that it doesn't rest or collect in any lines or wrinkles though again this works on under eye issues just not really dark circles and even on light ones it doesn't work all day long, only a few hours for me. All in all this is an economy cover up stick/concealer. I find it ok for a little helper but even then it doesn't seem to work all day long so I use this if I only want to wear my make up a few hours. As for a night out and the likes I don't find that it offers me enough though. Nice on the pocket product this just not so good on the face! Only available in Boots stores or from Boots.com This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.

              Cover Up Stick!

I have been using concealer for as long as I cam remember and tend to chop and swap between ranges after finding that some 'concealers' work better as highlighters and others just tend to be too dry to be able to blend in easily. The other day whilst shopping in Boots I came across this Cover Up Stick (concealer) in the Natural Collection Range for just £1.99 I decided that I would pick myself one up, especially seeing as they had 3 for 2 across the whole range! As I have said this was Natural Collection so it only avaliable in Boots and everything within this range is £1.99 or less, which means the price is great and is an affordable range for most people. With each purchase you also recieve 4 Advantage Card Points. There are 3 shades in which you can choose from - light, medium and dark, I personally went for the light one as I have quite a pale skin tone and the others looked quite orangey. The concealer itself is in a lipstick shape bottle and is white and quite simple to look at. To use you simply remove the lid, twist the bottom of the container and the concealer will come up. To use you can use it as you would a lipstick, but on your face, in other words straight fro the bullet, or my preffered way to to use it is to apply it onto your finger and then use as I find this is an easier way to blend it. The concealer feels smooth and silky and easily works up a 'cream' type consistency so is easy to blend. Of course, with a concealer you apply it to any blemishes / spots / etc. I found the concealer was able to hide most of blemishes well, however, when some of my spots are very red or raised I found it struggled a little. It was able to cover the spot and reduce the look of redness, however the redness was not completely hidden and due to this it seemed to exaggerate it rather than covering it. Other than this, the concealer was easy to blend and was able to hide most, if not all my blemishes. I walways apply my concealer before my foundation, so once I applied my foundation over the top of my concealer I was ver happy to see that the majority of my blemishes were nicely hidden and the colour of the concealer was able to blend well with my foundation. Though I would not say it gave me flawless skin, this concealer definitley did what it was meant to it that it 'covered up' many of blemishes and at the price I can't really fault it. Overall, I would definitley reccomend it and for £1.99 if it doesn't work for you then it is not too much of a loss!

A fantastic cover up stick from Boots' Natural Collection.

=== The product === This is a make-up concealer that is designed to help cover spots, blemishes and general small skin afflictions. === The packaging === This cover up stick comes provided in a plastic tube. There is a plastic lid, adorned with the 'Natural Collection' words and logo, and then you just twist the stick to reveal the cover up stick. This prevents this from getting damaged in your handbag and is a fantastic little idea, much like a lipstick in appearance. === Where can I buy this & for how much? === This can be purchased from Boots stores and www.boots.co.uk for just £1.99 and there are frequent special offers on Natural Collection products. At present (October 2011) you can purchase 3 selected items for just £5.00, a fantastic saving on some of their items. === Overall opinion === I was really cadged in to buying this by my niece who was telling me how well it worked. As she is quite a fussy person when it comes to make-up purchases I figured that she must be quite pleased with this to recommend it to me and therefore I purchased one, along with a few other bits from different companies that I had specifically gone to Boots for. There are two shades available, in my local store, and the one that I chose was the 'fair' as I have pale skin and usually need an Ivory or Natural colour/shade/tone/pigment when purchasing beauty products. I believe that the other one available was a medium, it was like an orange colour though and looked far too bright and garish for my skin. This cover up stick is very simple to use. I just apply this to my skin, in small dots and then I use clean fingers to blend this in a circular motion. This goes on at a medium thickness and this is ideal for covering up my flawed skin. This blends easily, in to my skin tone and when I use a mineral based foundation over the top it is not possible to tell where I have applied this cover-up stick. Any spots or blemishes are covered easily and smoothly using a combination of this and a mineral based foundation so I have been very pleased with the quality of this cover-up stick. My skin has continued to look good using this and while my niece has now 'borrowed' this indefinitely I would be happy to purchase it again, particularly due to the very reasonable price. I usually stick with higher priced products due to assuming that they will give quality but this has been a very pleasant experience using this. My skin did not suffer any more breakouts than it usually would when using make-up and I had my issues with my skin being extra sensitive to this. This removes easily with the use of a make-up wipe with minimal effort. Overall I am very pleased with the quality of this cover up stick, it works well, it is cheap, it suits my skin tone and it covers up my spots when I'm having a breakout.

                Lovely concealer

I was ill for about a week and had darkness under my eyes cos I had no sleep what so ever, and worst of all people were coming around to visit me and I just looked dreadful, so I made my lovely OH go out and buy me a cheap concealer! He came back from this and it was the first time I ever used something from the range but I was pleasantly surprised as it looked well presented and plus he did a good job! I was told this only cost £1.99, and I can tell you I have seen for myself now that it only does cost that! isn't that great? The concealer comes in a white little round tube and stands on its bottom, it has the Natural Collection logo spread across the lid of it and to use you take of the lid. Underneath is the concealer which is twist up and this is also in a white case, oooh very natural! I cant really say much about as you can tell, and see by the picture above..there is not much to explain, it does look nice though. Now onto the concealer, I was surprised at the texture of the concealer, sometimes I can pick up concealers and they feel so dry to touch, this one actually felt quite creamy and spread easily across the back of my hand when I tried it. The colour which my OH got it me in was 'Fair' the lightest shade which was a good choice, as I was looking extremely white! I found it best to apply it with my fingers because when I applied just by itself my fingers would have to be used anyway to blend it in, plus you always get the right amount! The colour was lovely, no hints of anything unnatural in there! and the coverage was light, but still for my under eye circles it did a nice job! I looked so much more brighter after applying this to the ugly dark circles, and people even commented on how better I was looking! I did try it to cover my acne hoping it would work, but it just wasn't the right amount of coverage I need for them, but oh well, I like it for under my eyes on no make up days. I also have found this is nice on my lips, dont freak out I am not talking full blown lips! I'm talking a tiny bit and then some light pink lipgloss over the top, it gives a natural 'rose' kind of colour. For my eyes, 10/10.

                A makeup essential

This covers my under eye bags, spots and and blemishes all for £1.99! It lasts me over a month and I always use this and have two, one in my handbag for when I get up late so no one knows if I went out the night before. I also have one of these sticks in my makeup bag if i am doing my full makeup. I also carry one in my handbag as it does have a tendency to need reapplying throughout the day. The problem with this cover stick is the fact there are only 2 shades offered in medium and fair. I am very pale skin and tend to go for the fair. The medium colour does tend to look a little bit orangey though which could be a huge disadvantage, but if like me you are pale skinned I would recommend this cover stick. The only place you can buy this cover stick is in Boots because it is from the natural collection exclusive to Boots. The competition for example Rimmel retails at £4.49.

                excellent product

I am a big fan of Boots Natural Collection make up, with most of make up bag being made of this brand. I have used many different cover ups and found this one to be the most effective in covering up any spots or redness before I applied the rest of my make up. I have used this product for around 2 years now and would not consider changing to another brand. The cover up is quite a thick product, therefore you need only use a small amount on your skin. I find the smallest amount is suffice to cover blemishes and dark circles. Even though it has a thick texture if too much is applied, it doesnt feel as though it is clogging up your skin. The price on this product is very reasonable at £1.99 and is a great addition to any make up bag, especially if youre looking for a quick fix. I definately recommend this product to anyone

                An affordable concealer

This concealer is from a brand exclusive to boots and retails for £1.99. Usually Boots have a promotion for this brand which means you can get 3 products for £5 but right now Boots are offering 4 for £5 online. This concealer is packaged in the same packaging as the lipsticks, a simply white packaged twist up stick. For £1.99 you get enough product, which if used non-stop would easily last you 2 months. "Natural Collection Cover-up Stick is an easy to blend concealer to cover spots, blemishes and under-eye shadows." I was really pleased with this product. I purchased shade medium, which was far too dark for me, but boots also sell another shade 'Fair' which would have matched my skin better. I do find that with Natural Collection face products that there is a poor shade range, which is a shame. This concealer is creamy, therefore easy to blend and will help to discuise blemishes and under-eye circles. You can apply to concear direct from the stick, be careful though as many have experiencing the concealer breaking this way, or by using a concealer brush or your fingers. The coverage will decrease the appearence of under eye circles or blemishes but unfortuanetly won't cover completely. The colour pay off is great with this concealer as a little bit will cover to the best of its ability. I did find with the shade Medium that it oxidised to an orangey tinge, which was disappointing. As for staying power, I did notice it wearing off and looking more dry and cakey looking after about 3 hours of wear but it is expected for this £2 price tag. To prolong staying power I would suggest setting with a powder. This concealer gives great coverage for the price, but if you are wanting something that will last longer then it is worth paying a few extra pounds to get a better quality concealer.
