For years I only ever wore powder and never even considered trying foundation as I was really put off by the girls in my school who caked it on and looked orange, they looked ridiculous. However I am much more into makeup now and get a little self conscious of my skin looking dull and a little blemished. The only problem that stops me now is that my skin is oily and it can be hard to find a good foundation that won't melt off my face and go patchy. I haven't tried many foundations but I thought 17 would be a safe one to choose as it was a Boots own brand and they are very trustworthy. I went for the lightest shade and was really drawn to the little bottle it was in, although this would make it difficult to tell how much had been used as it was opaque. The best thing about this foundation is it is a pump which makes it really easy to use and if you lose the lid it will still be okay because it needs firm press down for it to come out. I pumped it twice onto the end of my finger and smoothed it onto my face with the other. You can use a brush which is cleaner and gives a more evened finish but I find it quicker with fingers. As soon as it went on my face looked too dark, even though I'd picked the lightest shade however I still decided to wear it as I thought it would look lighter in natural daylight... oh wow was I wrong. Luckily I only went to the corner shop but when I got back the foundation had become really orange looking and had gathered in my eyebrows and around my nose looking really patchy and I hadn't even applied that much! It had also had sunk into my pores which looked awful, and on the parts of face with less pores like my cheeks it looked really thick and cakey even though I hadn't used much at all! I instantly went and washed it off, which required a flannel to do so as baby wipes just didn't work at removing it all. Although it was quite cheap I was expecting more from this product as it was Boots Own but I was extremely disappointed, the only good thing was the packaging and pump!
Cost: This is currently £5.69 in Boots or on the 3 for 2 offer (12/02/11) Packaging: This foundation comes in a a stylish black bottle with pump action with silver writing on the bottle. How to use: Apply evenly to a well moisturised face either using the finger tips or an application sponge. What is claims to do: 17 Super Wear Long Lasting Foundation conceals blemishes for a perfect finish that lasts all day. Whether its a sheer, dewy finish or something completely matte, your base is the first step to achieving beautiful make-up. My opinion: I don't have the best skin, i have the odd spot and uneven skin tone so i am always on the look out for a great long lasting and affordable foundation. I thought i had found that in this foundation when i first applied. The liquid when on with a great even coverage and left my skin looking fantastic and flawless. That is as far as it goes.. I took this on holiday and after maybe 2 hours of being out in the sun my skin looked as pale as it did before i started applying the foundation. My opinion, spend a little more and buy a better quality foundation and that actually does what it says it will do.
Boots 17 Super Wear Long Lasting Foundation, it stays on all day...or does it? The answer I am disapointed to say is no, it does most definitely not stay on all day, unless you pile it on then maybe. For me it will stay on at the most for 7-8 hours and I do mean at the very most. This foundation will not cover blemishes entirely but does help to fade them away fairly well. I recommend buying a slightly darker tone than your skin and a slight ly lighter this way you get the perfect colour. I som times find than if you are in a hurry you usually get the wrong colour, this helps me anyway to not look tango orange or snow white as they do not sell a large variety of skin tones. The price at boots is £5.49 per bottle and has a pump action that pumps the foundation up. This foundation is good for people with dry skin or complex skin. It can be used for people with oily skin but I do not recommend. Overall a pretty decent foundation that maybe doesn't last all day but certainly the majority of the day.
I bought this foundation last week, and i have to say that I think it's really good value for money and one of the best foundations i have ever used. I have always found that the brand 17 provides really good, thick foundations with good coverage which still manage to give you a really natural look. ---The Packaging--- This product comes in a really simplistic black tube, with eye catching silver writing on the front, although simple i personally think this gives it a certain look of sophistication. It holds 30ml and i usually find that this amount lasts me quite a while as a little goes a long way, my last foundation (also from 17, but not the same one) lasted at least 5 months. ---The Price--- I found the product amazing value for money as i payed just £4.99 for it from Boots, this is cheap even for highstreet brands. ---The Product--- This does exactly what it says on the tin, covers blemishes giving an almost flawless finish and lasts all day. It doesn't totally cover my spots but it certainly improves the look of my skin dramatically. I love that 17 have managed to create a thick foundation which still looks natural, i think it's really important that you get the right colour though, i have very light skin, so i went for the lightest shade, soft ivory, and this matched my skin perfectly. ---The Verdict--- I think this is one of the best highstreet branded foundations on the market and excellent value for money at just £4.99. I would definately recommend this to anyone :)
As a poor university student I'm completley in favour of trying high street makeup brands that don't break the bank. I've had a 17 foundation before (I think it was the shine free one?) and that was AMAZING, but I thought I'd try something new so I decided to purchase 'super wear.' I wish I hadn't, this honestly is the worst foundation I have ever bought! I bought the shade 'fair' and it just makes my face look bright orange. It also provides no coverage what so ever, my skin isn't perfect and after I've applied a layer of foundation it appears to have made no difference what so ever apart from making my face orange! Even applied with my mac 190 foundation brush makes no difference! Such a bad foundation in my opinion and I certainly would not reccomend it! Much better off with 17 'shine free skin perfecting;
~~What is it?~~ Basically what it "says on the tin"! It is a thick, long-lasting foundation, designed to last all day and hide all blemishes. ~~What you get...~~ The foundation comes in a rather minimalist style bottle with matching lid in navy blue. The bottle is pump action and holds 30ml. The front has subtle but eye catching silver writing with a brief description and the name. A small flesh coloured circle tells you the shade of the contents. ~~Price~~ Currently on boots.com it is being sold at £5.49 per bottle, with a special offer of a free gift if you spend more than £6.00 on Boots17 make-up. ~~Is it any good?~~ Well, although I am not the most girly of girls, one thing I cannot go out without wearing is my foundation - I have an unsightly skin condition that comes and goes and prefer to still have the confidence to leave the house every day rather than hide! Since I was about 21 years of age, Boots17 seemed to be the only brand that consistently provided a foundation that is thick yet natural looking. This particular range is no exception, it wins hands down in ease of application, how long it lasts, how good it looks and for value. Being free from mineral oil also means you are less likely to break out in spots after using it. ~~The texture~~ The texture is thick and creamy, I applied it with a brush and it sat on the surface of the bristles without dripping or soaking in. The feel of it against your skin is pleasant and does not feel abrasive. ~~The smell~~ It is fragrance-free which was another selling point for me as it is one less thing to irritate my skin. However, do not fear, it still smells fairly neutral. I asked my partner if he could notice any smell on my face and he said none. ~~The coverage~~ The coverage of blemishes is heavy. For me, this is perfect. As you apply the make-up, a small amount covers a large area and you can see blemishes vanish before your eyes. It seems to be particularly good at evening out redness, which almost removes the need for any colour correction fluid (which can often be oily). ~~The finish~~ After applying, your skintone looks more even, less blemished, and healthier. The only downsides to it that I can think of are that: a.) it leaves the surface looking fairly shiny, in the daytime this is usually okay but at night a light dusting of powder would be advisable as I have noticed photos of me in the evening with a flash have left me rather reflective! b.) as it is so effective at reducing redness, you may find a light dusting of blusher is needed to give a little more variation in colour, although that is a personal preference and some people prefer the more dramatic look.
I recently purchased Boots 17 Super Wear Long Lasting Foundation from Boots. I was really happy with the reasonable price that I thought I got it for; only £5.99 which is much cheaper than I usually find myself paying for foundations. And this was also part of a 3 for 2 offer which I was pleased about as well. The picture provided by dooyoo shows what the bottle looks like. It is black and cylinder shaped and says 17 in silver writing. The bottle I have is ever so slightly different to the one in the picture, because it has swirly italic writing on it instead of the boring print shown. I think the bottle design is quite presentable, it appealed to me on the shelf in the store I got it from, and I would say that I do quite like it. I thought the shades the range had to offer were a lot darker than you might expect. I chose the second lightest shade, because I have got fairly pale skin. But it looks a lot darker than say the fourth lighest shades do from other ranges. I did try a couple darker of the darker shades in store, and they were really dark. So be careful to try before you buy or you might be surprised. The foundation is very easy to blend onto your skin. You can use a sponge, brush or your fingers. The kind of foundation this is, by the way, is a liquid foundation. Apart from the shade being just a little darker than expected I would say that this foundation is perfect and looks fairly natural when I wear it. As the name would suggest this is supposed to last a long time, and I have found that it actually does do this. It is easy to take off at the end of the day, too. I have found that it can be removed using a make up wipe or cotton wool and make up remover. It isn't hard to take off so I don't think it clogs up your pores. I really like this foundation and would definitely recommend it :)
I've been searching for a decent, cheap foundation for a long time and think I have finally come across one! Boots Super Wear Long Lasting Foundation is the perfect choice for those who want a good foundation without breaking the bank. The foundation costs £4.99 and comes in 6 different shades so I'm sure they are suitable for use by most. I chose the shade Biscuit, which is a light tan sort of shade. The foundation is packaged in thin black bottle with a pump to dispense the foundation. I liked this design because you can control how much you want and you won't end up with much more foundation then you need it. The foundation also contains SPF 15...we all we know we should be protecting our skin from UV rays so by purchasing a foundation which already contains SPF it makes it a lot easier to remember. I apply mine with a rectangular sponge brush as I think just using fingers would be too messy and not leave a good finish. I top it off with Shine Control powder I bought which was also from the 17 range to help it last longer. Coverage: This foundation is perfect for evening out skin tone but it is not heavy enough to cover all blemishes or small imperfections. This may be frustrating for some but I personally prefer a more natural look. Result: For me this foundation lasted a long time but that may partly be due to me applying the powder after. I think it is perfect night or day but as I don't really wear face make-up in the day so I only use this product in the evening. When I went into town dancing at the end of the night it still stayed on perfectly and loads came off on the make-up wipe after which shows plenty was left! I would definitely buy this foundation again as it is excellent value for money and it gives a great finish which lasts all night.
Foundations, I find, are really hard to buy as I have really sensitive skin and work in an environment which is warm so foundation can disappear quite easy. I used to purchase mac minerals foundation but when the credit crunch hit I decided to try something cheaper and stumbled on this. I have to say - RESOUNDING SUCCESS!! 17 is a fairly economical brand from Boots and I have had the odd product from them previously. This foundation is a long lasting one which I took with a pinch of salt. However, my skeptisism was unfounded and I found a brilliant foundation. The actual foundation is quite runny but when applied I found it to be very light and it didn't have the heavy sticky feeling that a lot of long lasting foundations have. In addition to this, the coverage was very good. It easily covered my uneven skin tone and the few spots I had. I also found that a little went a long way which was really good. The dispenser was very good through the foundation came out slightly too quickly if I pressed too hard on the top though which meant I did loose a little bit! I'd say this is a really good value product and I haven't gone back to the more expensive brands.
I have been using this foundation during the days for about two years now. I do this weird thing were I wear Boots 17 super wear foundation in the day times as my 'cheapy' makeup and keep my Mac for evenings out or more important day time things. I hate having no makeup at all on unless im having a whole day of cleaning or pampering so I find this is quiet a cost effective way of rarely having to be foundation free. I don't mind this foundation as a 'cheapy' it does seem to be one of the best 'cheapys' on the market, I have tried alot and they are either horrid shades or run off your face like water. It costs just £4.99 or so and does last most of the day although I wouldn't recommend it for a night out foundation as it does tend to do that really annoying thing were it goes all shiny in heat. It has an Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15 which is always a must with any foundation no matter how cheap. The shades aren't to bad either, they are Ivory, Caramel, Honey, Biscuit, Natural, Fair. I use honey, it isn't a perfect match but close enough that it doesnt look piled on or orange. I would recommend anyone to always use moisturiser before or it will go on with a 'caked' effect but generally not to bad at all for a fiver and usually lasts me a couple of months as one big squirt from the bottle does your whole face.
I haven't come across many foundations which are to my satisfaction! This one is I think, about as close as I am going to get without spending the earth for it. This Super Wear Long Lasting Foundation, bit of a mouthful, comes in 6 different shades. Them being Soft Ivory, Caramel, Honey, Fair, Natural and Biscuit. I use the soft ivory one so if you have don't have pale skin this may not help in the slightest. Also, don't believe the stuff about putting a bit on your hand, it's best for you to judge for yourself without doing skin samples. The foundation cost me £4.99 which considering I don't think is too bad. You may be like other family members of mine however, who raised a few eyebrows at this. It appareantly contains 30ml and comes in a navy blue, plastic cyclinder packaging! One of the problems I see with this is that as the packaging is blue and quite solid, there is no way of knowing how much is left. Even when you shake it you can't hear the foundation inside moving about which I find is a bit annoying as the last thing I want in the morning is to have an empty bottle on my hands. When you take the lid off you can see that to get the foundation out it has a little pump type thing. Bad description I know. When you push the top of it down the make up comes out of a small hole on the side! It does come out a bit too quickly for my liking so you do have to go careful. You will waste if you are too heavy handed. When applying it I find the wedge sponge things the most useful. Not the circular or square ones. You can use one of those professional brushes however which I believe work just as well. This is not a product which lasts for very long. Due to the wear and tear of day to day life it leaves your skin looking a bit patchy and dry. Almost as if your skin is shredding! However, I have found that using the boots 17 face powder is stays in place for longer. Although the foundation is good for the money you pay, if you're somebody who wants your face to look perfect by the end of the evening then don't bother. I see it as make up for the day time rather than a night out. It provides good coverage and can easily be blended in without giving tide marks. At least worth a shot, especially if you have not found the right make up that suits your skins needs.

I am reviwing the Natural Shade as I find this matches my skin tone better than the others do. This foundation costs £5.37 (prices may be different in store and this price was taken from boots website), which comes in a 30ml dark blue pump bottle. (Although I think they are changing the packaging as the bottle looks slightly different to the bottle I have in my make-up bag! ***APPLICATION*** I apply this foundation in 2 different ways. Most days I will use a cosmetic sponge wedge which I also buy from boots and I will simply damp the sponge and apply my foundation using the sponge. The foundation pumps out nicely and isn't too runny but isn't thick either, it has a nice consistency to it and applies to the face very well. (I do moisturise before applying this, which gives me an smoother coverage, as I sometimes suffer from dry skin). The other way i apply this foundation when Im going out for a night on the town is with a foundation brush. I simply pump a bit of the foundation onto my hand to warm the foundation up and then use the foundation up to apply it to my face, that way I can build it up if I need to. I find that when using the foundaiton this way it gives me a better coverage and lasts a lot longer rather than using sponge wedges. (I never got on with rubbing foundation in/applying it with my hands!) ***RESULTS*** This foundation doesn't last all day but does cover spots and blemishes quite well. I find that half-way through the day this foundaiton has worn off quite a bit, so you made need to re-apply this later in the day. This foundation didn't dry out my skin and wasn't irritant to my skin either. I was pleased with the overall coverage and the results of this foundation and have been using this foundation for at least 5 years, if not longer! With this foundation I very rarely use bronzing pearls as I think this gives me a nice colour and think I would look to orange if I used bronzing pearls as well. This can be easily removed with make up remover wipes. I would recommend this foundation as I think its great value for the price compared to some other foundations out there which are way more expensive than this. With 6 different shades to choose from, there is one to match every skin tone. Before I finish this review just one tip for those who don't know. When looking for a new shade of foundation don't try the colour on your hand as this is totally different to the skin on your face. Try a colour test just behind your ear to get a better match for your skin. (That includes you as well men, lol)
My favorite foundation, I've used this for two years now. I started to use this because I worked in a salon and it was required, took me a while to pick one I wanted and I loved this, it is a liquid foundation. The foundation comes in six different colours. Ivory, Caramel, Honey, Biscuit, Natural, Fair. I use the natural one, its the only one that matches my skin. The fair one makes me look orange. It costs £5.37, medium sized bottle I would say, its go a little pressy thing at the top to control how much comes out, one or two presses is enough for me, but if you press it down too hard/fast too much will come out. It lasts quite a long time. It doesn't irritate or itch your face which is good because I have found some do, and its not too heavy for your face. The quality of it is pretty good, although I have to say only sometimes it feels like its running all over my face when I apply it, why this is only sometimes and not all the time I'm not sure. It doesn't cost a lot of money. A lot of people think that the more you spend on foundation the better it is, which actually isn't that. It works a lot better that most foundations that cost more. Luckily it doesn't run, but after quite a few hours the part of my face with spots well the foundation comes off around that part so you need to top up after a few hours. It comes off easy with make up wipes and cleansers. Good foundation and I would recommend it.
