Benefit is my guilty, splurge pleasure! I love how the products have a cute and catchy name and I love how they are packaged uniquely. But all this does come at quite a high end cost, so I don't tend to purchase from them a lot, just now and then when I feel like having a treat! I am always hinting to family and friends at how much I love the products and last week while out shopping my boyfriend decided to buy me the Benefit One Hot Minute Bronzing Powder purely because he liked the clock on the front and thought it was a pocket watch! I wasn't too sure what it was myself but was SO excited to add it to my collection! So just what is it? It is a 'sexy in second's face powder' or a bronzer to me and you! Benefit claim that for a gorgeous 'gaze at me glow' dust this loose 'rose gold' finishing powder over your face and neck. I absolutely love rose gold both in jewellery and in colour so I was so glad to have this as a bronzer. The shade itself is amazing I really love it! As I have a fair complexion I tend to stay away from the really dark St Tropez bronzers as I look, quite frankly, stupid with it on! However this shade almost combines a blusher and a bronzer in one which is probably why it I labelled as rose gold - rose being the blusher and gold being the bronzer. I love how light it is and how you don't have to be scared of applying it in case you put too much on! I would say this would suit all skin tones as it has the right amount of colour and different tones running through to make it suitable. The packaging is the BEST! I actually love having it in my handbag and always have it on my dressing table as it looks so great! As the name is One Hot Minute - Benefit have designed the packaging to look like a pocket watch with a clock face! Genius! The compact is round a quite big about 4 inches in diameter, its made of a hard and sturdy plastic and coloured a gorgeous goldy orange colour. On the top is a sticker that turns the pot into a clock - with a c=gorgeous pinky rose border and Roman numerals for the numbers, with the fancy clock hands reading ten past three. On the inside of the clock in italic black writing is the brand name with a blue background. Once you open up the compact, the lid comes off and there is no mirror, however there is the sieve mechanism that all loose powders possess to ensure that you do not use too much and waste it. Something I really, really love and was quite surprised at is that enclosed is a fan tail brush. I had never used one of these before but it is basically a small brush with the bristles displayed out in a fan that you see in hot countries! The advantages of this are that the product is picked up easily and dispersed onto your face well to create a natural look. To apply I use the fan tail brush and a very little amount tapped out into the lid. I then press the brush into the powder (on both sides of the brush) then tap off the excess into the pot and sweep over your cheek bones, temples are anywhere you feel needs a boost! You can also add a bit to your neck and chest to make it more flawless and seamless. I love this bronzer or face powder as it is the perfect shade for my skin tone and blends brilliantly due to the loose powder effect. Also the packaging is amazing and makes me happy to have it in my collection! Although it is quite an expensive product at £23.50 it contains 8.5g of product and lasts for ages as you only need to apply a tiny bit each time. Also I love the little brush included and use it to apply my blusher too, although with this product I find I don't need to wear blusher as it's a combo of the two. You can purchase Benefit products at Boots, Boots.com as well as the Benefit website and all good online make up stores as well as any department stores that have a Benefit counter.
I bought this on the advice of the benefit counter woman, I was after a bronzer but I didn't want to look too orange as I am quite fair and I wanted a natural, not nuclear, glow. I chose Benefit as I am a sucker for their products with the cute packaging and silly names, they are also usually pretty good quality too. She offered to try it on me and I loved the look so I bought it. She assured me this was the best option for me as it was lighter and more natural than some of the others. It cost around £20, i can't remember exactly, which is not cheap but benefit products never are! The packaging is gorgeous, Benefit products always have that cheeky, retro feel that I love and this is no exception and for some reason I just love things in cute tins, it's just different form the usual compact though it does mean it's trickier to use. It is a loose powder with a slight shimmer and it smells lovely! Most powders don't really smell of anything but this has a lovely scent. It comes with a little fan brush which stows away neatly in the tin and is actually a rather god brush unlike most freebie brushes that come with the product. The time also has a little plastic tray inside it which you must NOT throw away! This is the one downside with the packaging, it looks flimsy but it is actually integral to stopping the powder going everywhere, luckily I didn't throw it away but it was a close one! To use you tap a bit of the powder into the lid and dip the brush into it, the supplied brush is good or you can use a blusher or kabuki type brush instead, all work well. You can use it as an all over powder applying in a '3' shape on the forehead cheek and chin, with a bit on the nose to finish, or just as a blusher; or a combination of the two. It is a subtle glow that can be built up for a more made up look, it goes on well over foundation and can even be applied on top of blusher or another bronzer for an added boost. The shimmer effect is very subtle but it adds a definite 'lift' to you complexion, I use it on its own or over foundation depending on the look I'm going for and it works well for both. It is also nice on the décolletage. I love the natural glow it gives me, I was scared of bronzer having seen many a disaster walk the streets! However this is a subtle but noticeable way to give your complexion a boost, especially in the grey winter (or let's face it summer) months. I am still using my original purchase a few months later and will probably purchase again.
Today I am reviewing the BeneFit one hot minute bronzing powder This powder costs £23.50 and you can get it from boots, debenhams, etc. It is a loose powder and I'm going to start by saying the price of this is ridiculous. I mean, I like beneFit, some of their stuff is amazing, but this is not one of them things. The aim of this product is to finish off your makeup by giving it a cheek glow. TO me, the colour does not look like the 'rosy gold' beneFit describes it as, to me, it's just a goldy coloured powder. The brush it comes with is also not as nice as the boxed powder brushes. The texture of this powder is amazing though, its heavier / thicker than the box powders but it's not heavy on the skin and it feels kind of creamy. It's quite a sheer powder so if you have quite dark skin, it might not be very suitable. It could be used as a cheek highlighter but it's not the best product for you. I like the texture of this powder and it does give a nice glow to my skin but I think 23 pounds is way overpriced for this.
Benefit makes a huge variety of beauty products but its most popular and best selling creations are usually the bronzers, blushers and highlighters. Benefit One Hot Minute is a very different to most of their standard bronzers. Usually Benefit sell bronzers where the powder is packed hard and they come in cute little boxes. This bronzing highlighter one is actually a loose powder and it comes in a sturdy tin with a screw top lid. The packaging is beautifully designed. On the lid is an eye catching retro design of a clock face. Inside the tin is a sifter which allows you to have control over the powder which prevents wastage. The product comes with a brush in order to apply the powder although you may prefer to use a brush that you already have. Despite its appearance, this product is actually marketed as a highlighting face powder. The tinted powder is a rusty gold colour and the purpose of it is to add the perfect finishing touch of radiance to your make up. Benefit promise that this sweep of rosy gold sheen will look great on all skin tones and that it will give you a healthy glow instantly. It also smells delicious. In order to use the product, you dip the brush gently into the powder and blow off any excess powder. It is actually quite annoying to have to blow away excess with the price that you pay for this product but it's necessary if you don't want to end up in a big mess. You then sweep the powder across your whole face and neck for a luminous finish. It can be worn alone as a quick pick me up or over the top of make up. Personally, I don't like to use this product all over my face as I think it looks shiny and too much. I prefer to wear it only on my cheek bones over my normal bronzer and it gives my cheeks more radiance and illuminates my complexion. You can also use this as a body illuminator and it does look beautiful on the collar bone and shoulders. The product isn't going to last long if you use it on the whole body though. One Hot Minute will set you back around £20 for 8.5 grams of the rusty powder. It is available from most large department stores including Boots and is also available from many online websites. The effect of this highlighting powder will be to some people's tastes and not others. If you like the all over shiny healthy glow look, then you will love this, I prefer my skin to look matt so for me to only use this on my cheeks is a bit of a waste. Be warned though, this is definitely not a bronzer and is merely a subtle powder to enhance your complexion. I'll continue to use the product, especially on my body but I won't be repurchasing it because it doesn't fit in with my make up routine.
As some people on here may already know, I am a big lover of Benefit Cosmetics products, and my make up bag is just full to the brim of it. One of their products that I can not be with out is One Hot Minute Bronzing Powder. It is basically what it says on the tin, bronzing powder. It comes in a nice little screw top tub, which is made of metal and is a bronze colour. There is a clock face printed on the top which has the words one hot minute on it. When you open the tub for the first time you will find the cute little fan brush which is supplied for application, and a plastic covering which you need to remove, as well as the sticker over the small holes in the tub which allow the product to come through. Personally I do not use the fan brush, as I feel it is not the right kind of brush for the job, and I use a medium sized blusher brush to apply my bronzer. The powder itself is a nice warm, golden color and it has a really nice smell to it. The smell reminds me of cinammon, and is a really nice, warm smell. As I said before, I apply my bronzer with a medium sized blusher brush, and I find that this spreads the bronzer and blends it to my skin nicely and without any effort. I only need a tiny amount on my brush to gain a nice colour to my skin, and it does spread quite far too. It literally takes less than a minute to apply to your face, and it looks fantastic. My skin always looks shimmery and glowing when I use One Hot Minute, and I look healthy too. I also find it is brilliant at helping to hide imperfections and flaws. Used on top of foundation and/or powder, it can help to create a beautiful, flawless finish which lasts all day. I have never once had to reapply my bronzer, even when I have put it on in the morning and gone out at night. It has perfect staying power, and when you want to remove it, there is no problem. It comes off easily with make up wipes, cleanser or just soap and water. The powder itself is a light powder, so I do not feel like my skin is being clogged up when I use it. The lovely smell that comes with it also stays for quite some time, which I find perks my mood up on a cold winters morning, as well as perking up my face! As with all other Benefit products, One Hot Minute does not come cheap. If bought from Benefit directly it costs over £21.00, but I have managed to find it much cheaper on Amazon, through Elle Cosmetics, for £14.50 plus postage and packaging. This is the best price I have seen it for on any website. There is a few listings on eBay, but I am vary wary of Benefit make up on eBay, as they all seem to be conterfeit products. A tub of this bronzer actually lasts me about 5 - 6 months, even with daily use, so even at the usual price it really is worth the price you pay for it. You can buy One Hot Minute from The Benefit Website, from Benefit Stores and Counters across the UK, from Larger Boots stores, on Boots.com and on Amazon. Prices will vary according to which store you are in, I personally find Amazon to be the best option. If you like to look glowing and healthy without extra effort, then this really is the best bronzer you will find. You can wear it on its own, or on top of other make up, and either way you will love the way it looks on your skin. I recommend One Hot Minute, 100% and I hope that you guys will love it as much as I do.
