I love LUSH products. I have brought a few flavours of lip scrubs but my favourite is the Bubble gum one. It taste so yummy and smells good. I got two of the Bubblegum lip scrubs as its the best out of all of them. Who ever hasn't tried these before, they are cute pots of flavoured sugar which exfoliate your dry lips. They are edible and safe. I brought the Popcorn out of interest from youtube reviews, and i can't stand it. The taste is horrible, too salty and its harder than the rest of the lip scrubs. I wouldn't recommend the popcorn one. The lip scrubs make your lips so soft and smooth. The pots they come in are so cute, i will be saving those. The pots are 25 grams and there is a lot there. They will last you for life. Over all its a fab product. Well done LUSH.
This little pot of scrub came in a Lush gift set that I received as a birthday present. In the typical Lush black and white packaging there is nothing all that eye catching about this product, expect for the big "popcorn" lettering on the front. The tub itself is made from glass, so whatever you do, do not drop it else you will have a sugary sticky mess everywhere! The scrub smells absolutely divine! Just as you expect from Lush, smells every bit like toffee popcorn. The directions state to use a tiny amount to buff your lips and then lick off the excess. To the touch the scrub feels just like sugar (no surprise as it is the main ingredient!) you can feel it gently exfoliating your lips as you apply a small amount and buff in circles. When the time came to lick it off, it tasted nothing like I expected! To me it didn't taste of popcorn, in fact I'm not sure what it tasted like but it wasn't nice and that is the main reason it is still in my bathroom cabinet after only being used a handful of times. I think I'll try the Bubblegum flavour next time! My lips did feel and look softer and smoother afterwards, so it does work, just the taste I cannot stand, unfortunately.
When I went into lush early this year the sales assistant told me about this product and persuaded me to try it. I had a sample of it and loved it so i bought the jar of it for myself. The lip scrub comes in a cute little glass tub, with a black lid and black labels round the side saying 'POPCORN' and a description of the product. It also has a little sticker saying what member of the lush team made this, and the best before date. Unscrewing the top, the colour of the scrub is beige, a kind of caramel colour suggesting that is the flavour of the product. The instructions are to scoop out a little bit with your finger tips, and rub on your lips to exfoliate away the dead skin. You can then lick or wipe the excess off. This is meant to prep them for adding lipstick or gloss afterwards. The texture was of sugar, and that's no surprise as it is what the scrub granules are made of. Rubbing them onto my lips, they felt scratchy and you could immediately smell the mouth-watering scent of salted caramel. After I had buffed them for a couple of minutes, I licked the excess off and it tasted absolutely divine. Sweet and like toffee, with a hint of salty aftertaste. This tastes much nicer than it sounds written down. It tastes like cinema toffee popcorn. Feeling my lips afterwards, sadly I didn't notice much of a noticeable difference. Sure, they felt a bit softer, but there was still peeling and chapped skin on them. Overall, although it tasted nice, I was disappointed that it hadn't really done what it had claimed to do. I tried it again a couple of times and it was just the same. It tasted good, but had no great effects to the skin on my lips. The price of this was expensive, £5.25 for 25g. It looks like you are getting more as the jar is heavy, but that is just the weighty glass. I usually like lush products, and the smell of this is gorgeous, they should put it into a bath bomb or body lotion. However, the product just didn't live up to the claims of what it could do, for me. I wouldn't buy again.
Salted caramel seems to be this year's big thing. Costa now sells a salted caramel latte, and now Lush have released a salted caramel lip scrub called Popcorn. I love salted caramel - Hotel Chocolat make several chocolates containing this and they are yummy - so I knew I would want to purchase this product. The lip scrub comes in the usual glass pot with a black lid. The scrub itself is clearly the colour of popcorn, a pale brown. Inside, the scrub smells absolutely delicious - sweet and yummy, not much like popcorn (which I hate!) but with a definite caramel kick. The scrub is suitable for vegans and only contains a few ingredients: caster sugar, jojoba oil, sea salt, polenta, coconut oil and popping candy. Sugar helps to scrub the lips soft, as does the salt, which brings out the sweet flavour. Jojoba oil is moisturising, as is coconut oil. Polenta is an Italian grain and I assume it is also in here for scrubbing purposes. Popping candy is meant to create a festive popping sensation on the lips. I actually can't detect any popping candy here at all, but I find this to be a good thing, as I find the scrub is much more effective without it. This scrub contains £5.25 a pot, but it does last for ages as only a tiny amount is needed at any one time. On average a lip scrub from Lush lasts me several months. If you had the time and the inclination you could probably make your own version of this at home, but frankly I can't be bothered! To use, I take a very small amount of lip scrub and rub it gently over my lips to smooth them. After use I lick off any remaining scrub. It tastes utterly delicious, with a distinct salted caramel flavour which I love. I apply lip balm over the top and am left with beautifully soft, smooth lips, ideal to leave as they are or cover with lipstick. In the past, I've always preferred Lush's permanent lip scrubs rather than their festive limited editions, as the former tend to be more effective and the latter often contain gimmicky ingredients such as popping candy which lessen their effectiveness and mean that they get used up more quickly. This is not the case with Popcorn, however. Though it is supposed to contain popping candy - and I can see why, given the name - I can't detect any, and the caster sugar is fine enough to scrub effectively even though only a tiny amount is used. This is a fantastic lip scrub and luckily it has now been added to the permanent range, so it can be enjoyed all year round!
Lush is a company that produces handmade bath and cosmetic products, including but not limited to, 'bath bombs', 'bath melts', face masks, soaps, and fairly new to the brand - cosmetics. Lush are against animal cruelty and testing on animals, therefore are yummy smelling sweethearts - in my opinion. Imagine you're in the cinema, first date and you're going to go in for the kill! You pucker up your lips ready to smooch and 'oh darn! they're chipped' whip out your Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub, rub some on, lick your lips and ahh smooth and tasting delicious! At first, I was very much on the fence about the taste...first it's salty and you're like "oh dear lawwwwwd!" but then it's sweet - very much like popcorn. Even now I wince at the saltiness to start with, but I still adore it. I adore the lip scrub's in general...specifically Bubblegum but Popcorn was in one of my gift boxes at Christmas and I have to admit, I cannot choose between them! The lip scrub is made up of sugar and therefore you can lick it up off your lips without a nasty taste! I find their lip scrub's so useful before I apply my lipstick or even lip balm, it's a very serious routine for me as if you're wearing something like matte finish lipstick and you have dry cracked lips, your lipstick will bleed into the cracks of your lips! Scrub 'em nice and enjoy the taste, and you're set to go! You don't even have to use it before lipstick, use it on it's own and leave your lips natural - your lips will be soft and smelling and tasting luscious. I can't pick a flaw in this product, it's a major handbag essential for me!
For Christmas this year my lovely Sister very kindly (and rightly) got me a Lush gift card. When I walked into my nearest Lush store on Boxing day to spend this wonderful gift and found many items were half price, the biggest smile appeared on my face! Needless to say I bought an awful lot that day with one of those things being the Popcorn Lip Scrub. I had used the Bubblegum Lip Scrub from Lush before and absolutely loved it so when I found the Popcorn one half price I decided to buy myself a pot. Usually this 25g pot of scrub costs £5.25 which made it a nice little bargain at half price and less than £3! The scrub comes in a clear glass circular pot with black screw on lid. A sticker around the side of the pot provides us with all the relevant information whilst the black lip displays the Lush logo, product name and description. This a vegan friendly product which hasn't been tested on animals, wonderful! Unfortunately this lip scrub is limited edition and I assume that limited time has now come to an end with this being in the half price sale and it no longer being sold through the Lush website. I'm sure some stores will still have it stock if you hurry though and Ebay will probably have the odd pot from time to time too if you wish to buy one. Unscrewing the lid of this pot reveals the pale brown coloured scrub and its scent instantly hits you. It does smell like fresh sweet popcorn and is beautiful! The sent is very similar to the Let The Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser from Lush if you're familiar, it's very nice. To use the scrub I just press my index finger lightly into the scrub and a small amount with lift out with my finger. I then just rub this across my lips giving them a good scrub! The rough sugar in the scrub isn't too harsh my lips that it becomes uncomfortable or painful to use. The more pressure I apply when rubbing this over my lips the rougher the feeling I get but I've never doe it so hard that it's hurt or anything. Once you've given your lips a good scrub the really fun part comes. Stick out your tongue and lick the left over sugar off of your lips! Whilst the smell reminds me of popcorn so much unfortunately the taste does not. When you lick off the sugar you get the clear sweet kick from the sugar as well as quite a sickly buttery taste which I'm not too fond of myself. Where the bubblegum scrub did actually taste like bubblegum this one was quite disappointing! Still, the taste doesn't last in my mouth for long and the results it has on my lips are far more important I think. And thankfully those are good results. All the sugar comes off easily and quickly and my lips are left feeling amazing! Any dead skin and rough bits are completely removed and my lips are left as smooth as they can be, very soft and just healthy looking and feeling really! Applying a lip balm afterwards helps add a bit of moisture to the lips and applying lipstick after using this will give a wonderful result. If you're looking for soft, smooth and healthy lips then I completely recommend this or any other Lush Lip Scrub for that matter!
I was in Lush a few weeks ago buying some presents for my nieces and some friends and of course I decided to treat myself to some things at the same time. One of the things that I treated myself to was some new lip scrubs. I was really looking forward to trying the popcorn one as it was one of the few lip scrubs in Lush that I hadn't previously tried. I think that I might have become addicted to lip balm as my lips become so dry and chapped without it and with the cold weather and central heating I need to take better care of them in the winter. This year they seem to have become even drier so I was looking forward to trying out this scrub and getting them looking their best for the festive season. Popcorn lip scrub costs £5.25 for a 25g pot and for me it was worth every penny as it works exactly as it is supposed to and left my lips looking and feeling in tip top condition. The scrub contains caster sugar, jojoba oil, sea salt, polenta, coconut oil and popping candy. It was the popping candy that originally caught my eye as it is such an unusual ingredient to find in a beauty product. You use this scrub on your lips just as you would with any sort of exfoliator in small circular movements. It is easy to apply as the scrub has a thick consistency and I found it easy to get some on to my finger and then use the circular movements to scrub my lips and remove any flakes of dry skin that I had. I thought this was fantastic. I am usually a big fan of all things Lush but this has leaped straight to the top of the list of Lush products that I particularly like. It tastes lovely and has a wonderful aroma of coconut and sweetness. The taste is a little weird as it is both salty and sweet at the same time but it is really delicious and I had to make sure not to just like it off my lips when I was using it. It worked amazingly well. I thought my lips were already in pretty good condition but this left them looking and feeling even better. It is just rough enough that it removes all traces of dry flakes of skin but it isn't so rough that it hurts to use. The oils in the scrub left my lips really moisturised and looking soft and sleek. My lips were left slightly tingling after using this which was a slightly weird but also a quite nice sensation and the condition of my lips was improved loads. The day I used it I was going to a works night out afterwards and my lipstick went on so much better than it usually does and it didn't make my lips look or feel as dry as normal and the scrub just made them perfectly prepped for putting on lipstick. You might only get a little pot with this scrub but like all the other lip scrubs from Lush it will last you for ages before you need to buy a new one. I have already used mine quite a few times but I still have loads of it left and I imagine I won't need to buy a new one again for a few weeks as you only need such a tiny amount for it to do its job and make your lips feel and look sensational.
Having run out of my favourite Lush bubblegum Lip Scrub, I found myself in Covent Garden having had a coffee with some friends and lo and behold, there is a small Lush shop. I needed to get some more Snow Fairy shower gel anyway, that is one thing I don't want to be running out of and I decided to grab some lip scrub whilst I was there, only to my horror they had run out... having asked an assistant if they had any stock and being told no, I went back to the shelves and saw a different Lip scrub called 'Popcorn' and decided to buy that instead. At this time of the year with Halloween and Bonfire Night, its freezing cold but you don't want to stay in, you want to be out enjoying yourself, but you also need to take extra care of your skin and especially your lips because you don't want to be having dry, chapped lips. So I have stocked up on lip balm, replacing the ones that had run out or had almost run out and now I am fully prepared for winter. I am back once again after a trip to my favourite Lush shop in Victoria and writing once again about something which annoys me more than a lot of things - chapped lips! As some of you regular readers might have notices lip care is quite an important part of my beauty regime and the reason for that is because I spend a lot of my working day not only dealing with ordinary members of the public but also business clients and other professionals within my work place. So to have well a manicured hand and a smart suit for me isn't enough, there is a little bit more to it and that. I am a huge fan of lip scrubs, some of my reviews have been about previous Lush lip scrubs that I have used and this one is about Popcorn, a new lip scrub which recently became available from Lush. I like these products because they do what they intend to do and that is to act as an exfoliator for your lips, removing dead and dry skin cells which are really not very attractive. It has also become increasingly difficult to find a decent lip scrub at a reasonable price rather than some exorbitant price which leaves you weeping as you leave the checkout, there are many other varieties out there, but for me, Lush have the best products. Popcorn Lip Scrub is an alternative to the other flavours in the Lush section Bubblegum, Mint Julips and Sweet Lips Lip Scrubs. I have tried all three of those products and they are all brilliant, I'm just more of a fan of the Bubblegum one because it fits in with my favourite products from Lush in the Snow Fairy range. Like the other Lip Scrubs, Popcorn, is designed to keep your lips kissable, smooth, conditioned and dry, flaky skin free. So, whenever the weather changes so rapidly your skin can look dry and tired and sometimes you feel washed out and use a treatment or lotion to combat this making you feel much better and more confident, so why not do the exact same thing with your lips? When your lips are dry and chapped it can be quite painful to try and remove the dry skin and it can be quite difficult and before I spotted these type of products I had in the past used an old toothbrush to remove such skin from my lips, not that it was very easy to do or as successful as using something especially designed like this. Popcorn Lip Scrub comes packaged just like the other two products within this range and that is in a small round glass tub with a black lid which screws on and off the pot in a very easy motion. On the jar of this product are the words Popcorn on both the lid and surrounding label along with the most important two words which are lip and scrub. The pot itself is see-through behind the label and through the pot you can see a Creamy coloured sparkly looking scrub. Also on the lid of the tub is a brief blurb which says "Be a blockbuster success and have them queuing up for the sequel", yes well we will see wont we! It retails at £5.25 for a 25g jar which is the exact same price as the other products within this range and whilst it does sound expensive, I actually find the product really good value for money. My last tub lasted over a year and I used it at least once a week. Now it will come as no surprise that I think this is a fantastic product, it does everything that I had anticipated it would do and makes your lips feel fantastically smooth. Once the lid has been removed, inside the tub the sugary cream I described as being creamy coloured is caster sugar which gives it the rough texture you need to act as the exfoliator on your lips which will work to remove all of the dead skins cells from your lips. The other main ingredient included is Jojoba Oil can be used on all skin types but is especially used as a moisturising ingredient for dry, flaky skin. Sea Salt is also present and it helps to condition your lips and act as an exfoliating agent to remove dead skin cells and dry skin. Coconut Oil comes next and for me this is one of the main aromas, it is wonderful and more so for your skin because it helps moisturise the skin keeping it soft and smooth and it also help your lips from cracking and becoming chapped. Then comes a bit of a surprise ingredient with Popping Candy and you'll find once you have finished rubbing this across your lips there will be a tingling sensation which, whilst pleasant is a bit of an odd feeling. Unlike other Lush products this one doesn't come with a long list of other ingredients it's a simple product with a simple ingredient list. When it comes to using this Lip Scrub, it is exactly the same as I mentioned in my previous review, but got the benefit of those people who haven't read it yet. One of the first things you need to do is to remove any traces of products such as lip gloss, lip balm or lipstick which you might have applied and this is to ensure your lips are as bare as they can possibly be and as clean as they can be as well. Then I would suggest cleaning your lips using water and a relevant facial cloth before using this lip scrub, just to ensure your lips are clean and that there is no chance any bits of dirt are left clinging to them. Then as this lip scrub is quite thick in consistency and because it is to be used on your lips you don't actually need to be using too much at a time. Like with most lip balms you apply this directly onto your lips, but instead of running your finger along your lips to get that smooth look, you will need to rub it into the skin on lips in small circles to remove all of the dead skin cells and any other impurities from your lips and once you have worked your way across your lips, using some slightly damp cotton wool you gently remove the left over product from your lips and then using your finger check your lips to make sure you haven't missed anything, if you have simply copy the actions you have just done. Once you have finished, what you will notice what effect this product has had on your lips because you will see traces of what has been removed and if your lips are really chapped you might find they sting a bit if you have pressed too harshly with this scrub, because although it is castor sugar which acts as the exfoliating agent, it is quite harsh on the skin, particularly as the skin on your lips is quite sensitive compared to the skin on other body part, so take extra care the first time you use this product. Once I had finished scrubbing my lips my first initial reaction was to see how smooth my lips felt, so I ran my tongue along them. When my lips become dry it is always tends to be in the same place and that is right in the middle of my top and bottom lip and once I had used this product my lips felt soft and smooth all the way along. The after feel should be a soft and smooth one, what I noticed was no sign of any hard or loose skin but soft smooth lips and because it is a scrub you will need to use a lip balm afterwards to ensure you keep your lips moisturised. I have since continued to use this scrub once a week since buying it and even though it isn't my favourite Lip Scrub, I still really like it. There is a contrast between tasting sweet and salty as you rub it across your lips and the slight buttery taste you associate with popcorn is also evident, but the best part if knowing it contains popping candy and therefore at some point you are going to feel that tingling sensation. Overall I am very impressed with this Popcorn lip scrub, it was easy to use, it smelled lovely and it has a lovely smell and feel to it which is an added bonus and price wise, I don't actually think it is expensive because it lasts a very long time, the last pot I had lasted over a year and I only bought another one because there was nothing at all left in my pot. For me these products are worth every penny and I sincerely hope they are here to stay amongst the Lush products.
My lips can get quite dry and flaky and it can look a bit unattractive, especially if I am applying lipstick on top. I have bought most of the lips scrubs by Lush but that doesn't stop me from buying some more... Especially when I found out about the new Popcorn one. What does the product do? The product contains sugar and salt particles which buff the lips removing all dry and dull skin from the lips leaving them looking in a better condition and feeling smooth. It also contains Jojoba Oil and Coconut Oil to soften, hydrate and nourish the lips. How do you use the product? A small amount of the product is to be massaged onto the lips using the finger in circular motions for a few minutes. This should be done over the sink as you can get in quite a mess. When the time is up, you can either rinse the product off or you can also lick it off again as the product is completely edible. Packaging and Price The product comes in a little glass jar that is transparent and you can see the product inside. The jar has a screw top lid and the lid has a sticker on it which gives a little bit more information about the product. The product will cost you about £5 for 25 grams which is quite expensive for a product which you can make at home for much cheaper but I wouldn't want the mess! It can be bought from your local Lush store or from its online website. Application and Performance The product has a golden colour to it that you would expect from a popcorn product. It smells a bit like popcorn, being buttery, salty and sweet. The application of the product can be a bit of a messy job which is why I apply it over the sink. You don't need to use much of the product, but what you do use can crumble away as you massage the product in. Despite the product having plenty of massaging particles, it doesn't hurt the skin on my lips but it still feels like it's doing a good job. The product tastes both salty and sweet so I lick most of it off and then rinse off the rest of the residue so that I feel clean again. Once the product has been rinsed off my lips are left feeling really smooth and the flaky dull skin is gone. They also feel nice and soft although I still apply a lip balm afterwards. The product hasn't caused me any irritations or discomfort. The only sensations that it gives me is a slight tingling after use and a little bit of stickiness. Other varieties Other flavours in the sugary lip scrub family including the chocolate Sweet Lips, the minty Mint Julips and the sweet Bubble Gum. Conclusion This is a good novelty product which does leave the lips feeling soft, smooth and conditioned. It is fun because it's edible, smells good and tastes good but it can be messy to use and is a little bit expensive for what the product is. I like it nevertheless and I'm sure I'll be first in line the next time that they release another flavour.
