I like this lap top. I have the white one, so it looks a bit more stylish than the one in the photo. I like the wide screen and there is more than enough memory on the thing for my needs.
My only criticism is Windows 8. I can not stand it. I think it was meant for touch screens rather than ordinary lap tops. But this is not a criticism of Windows 8 as that has nothing to do with the actual machine.
The machine itself is fast and reliable. It is large, but it is still relatively light. That means that I can use it anywhere- literally on my lap, sitting on my bed, or at my desk. As a freelancer, this works well for me because I am often working away from my desk, so I nee a reliable, quick machine, which is light and easy to carry around. The width of it makes it slightly awkward at times, but that small inconvenience is outweighed by the fact that it is light, fast and relatively powerful.
I only use it for researching my projects, writing, surfing, emailing and some light photo editing. I can not comment on what it would be like for more heavy duty users. But for my purposes, five months in and it is perfect so far.
I bought this PC for myself whilst browsing for a replacement for old and dated laptop, and this definitely replace my old laptop.
CPU: The i5 2.6 GHZ CPU can preform most tasks you put it through, except of course extreme 3D rendering, but this laptop was not designed for that. It is designed for simple tasks to be preformed and it certainly does that. 2.6 GHZ CPU in this laptop make it a powerful machine.
RAM: The 4GB of ram in this machine will do most tasks like word and power point, no problem and can even handle some games as well, like Minecraft and some simulators. Although as it is not up to the 8GB i usually like in computers it still preforms tasks fine.
Intel HD Graphics: The only thing I did not like about this machine was the fact it had CPU internal graphics. I would of much prefered a separate GPU like a HD Raedon, like the HP pavilion G6 has to offer, but this game was not intended for HD games so it didn't surprise me.
500GB hard drive: Lots of space in this machine as this hard drive will store all of your things for years. It doesn't have an SSD to run windows 8 super fast but this hard drive will do
This is not a review about windows 8 but to put it shortly, i would of much preferred it if windows 7 would of come with this machine as windows 8 user interface is not my preferred style.
I really like this Laptop, great for office and home work, no problems yet!
Received my Toshiba laptop last week and have finally got the hang of this new Windows 8. This slim line laptop is so light and easy to carry around that I often forget it is on my shoulder. The screen seems huge at the side of my old 12 inch one.
It has a touch screen action so I can drag and drop and make the images or text bigger or smaller just by running my fingers across the screen. The mouse pad is quite sensitive and I had to get used to it because it is so easy to accidentally open new windows by mistake.
The windows 8 operating system that came with it took a great deal of getting used but now I love it. My desktop has 'buttons' for all my favourite programmes. I can run my mouse to the side of the screen and move between windows that I have open.
The graphics are wonderful, really clear and watching movies on it is no problem at all. My wi- fi connection is very fast and doesn't drop out like my old laptop did.
The keyboard is very robust and feels quite solid under my fingers.
I love this machine!
I have been a happy Toshiba owner for years now and I wouldn't dream of owning a different brand of laptop. I have never had a problem with a Toshiba laptop and always recommend them to colleagues and friends.
I purchased the laptop for £450 from Amazon. I could have got a cheaper laptop with similar specs, but I would always pay more for a Toshiba.
The tiled keyboard looks great, it doesn't work great however. I don't like how it feels unfortunately. I do use a wireless keyboard the majority of the time so this wasn't an issue for me. I'm sure if I used the build in keyboard I would grow to like it but at the minute it isn't for me!
The laptop looks great, the first thing I noticed was the speaker integration. It looks very stylish and definitely something you could show off to friends or colleagues.
With 4GB RAM and a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor this laptop is extremely responsive. It runs smoothly and is very quick at day to day tasks. I also like the fact that their is a webcam built in so I can Skype with my family without the need to purchase an external webcam.
The lack of USB ports (2!!) is the only fault I can find with the features of this laptop. I would prefer two on each side. When I insert a USB drive into the laptop, I have to remove my wireless mouse and keyboard receiver which isn't ideal.
I have heard horror stories about Windows 8 but after using it for a few weeks, I love it. It makes my laptop better than I could have wished for. The new design of Windows feels fresh and I for one am looking forward to synchronisation between the new Xbox and my home laptop in the future.
I have to be extremely picky to find a fault. For me, the only fault is the battery. If the battery life was better, this would be the perfect laptop. This isn't a massive problem for me as I always carry a spare charged battery with me. I get around 3 hours battery life fully charged but my laptop is hammered constantly, I always have iTunes and multiple browsers running and I like to have the screen quite bright.
