From a distance the Satellite L670-12J looks like yet another plain, black laptop. The Satellite has a 17.3in widescreen display. The resolution of 1,600x900 pixels is large enough for working on a pair of documents side by side or for watching high definition 720p video. Although it feels a bit spongier than other laptop keyboards we've seen, the keys are responsive and fine for typing long documents. In terms of build quality, the Satellite is up to Toshiba's usual robust standards.Surprisingly for such a large laptop, there are only three USB ports. The Satellite isn't brimming with bundled software, but a useful program is Toshiba's own ReelTime application. Combined with Windows 7 Home Premium's search capabilities, there's no excuse for losing your files.
i found this to be a lot better than my last laptop which was a dell. This laptop is simple to use, and i found the design was slim and light and so much easier to transport than my old laptop which was a lot of energy to lug around, so if you have need to take your laptop with you places, this one would be a pretty good laptop to go for. It has a webcam built in which is pretty good, not amazing quality but as i wasnt aware of this for a good week of owning the laptop it was a nice little bonus, the speakers are pretty clear although i found that to attatch other speakers gave me a much better sound quality. If you watch films on your lap top then you will like this, the screen seems bigger when opened up than you first expect, a nice laptop all in all, the keys are nice and big so you dont end up typing all your words wrong (a particular issue for me as i seem terrible at typing) and an affordable and reasonable price, this laptop can be picked up for around £400, so if your looking to buy a new laptop this is one i would suggest you concider.
My company owns this laptop, but it has been assigned to me for 5 months now. I work with graphics alot of the time so for me, it is essential to have top quality picture and colour. I use it everyday for about 4 hours a day, and i have never had any problems with it so this will be a positive review!
The first time i started using it the whole thing was very complicated and hard to get used to, since i didn't have much experience with laptops before, although the manual that came with this was given to me, and it wa extremely helpful, and at the back there are contact numbers for customer support, and web links. It took 10 minutes to set up and start work.
The keys are chunky and dont push down very much which annoys me because i have to keep checking the screen to make sure i really did just press the right key, and it does make you typo a lot. As i say though, graphics is the main reason it was given to me, as i specifically asked for an HD one with good colour range, and it has 16.4 million colours and 1080p HD screen which is incredibly detailed when watching hd movies or dealing with vector graphics.
If you defrag it regularly and keep it virus clean it will run pretty smoothly. I did a test for this review, and it loads to password logon screen in 8 seconds!!
It comes with windows 7 which isn't the nicest peice of software to use since i prefer linux, but it has made life easier, and since the laptop is designed for W7 in the first place, you rarely get errors, faults and crashes, so just dont change the software, and its a great laptop!
