This laptop is the best I have ever had. It's sleek, stylish look go well with the feel of the keyboard and the laptop itself. The laptop does have a 'plastic' feel, which surprised me at first. However, after getting used to the feel of it (it was totally different to my last laptop) I have realized that it is in-fact better this way. The laptop doesn't scratch easily, is smooth and has an intelligent layout. The input ports (USB, HDMI, Ethernet etc) are spread out across the sides of the laptop so overheating is less likely to occur. The laptop has a touchpad lock (which is good if you want to use a mouse, flicking the touchpad can be incredibly annoying!). The keyboard has a light touch to it, very easy to 'touch type' as they aren't heavy at all. The performance will depend on the specification. My laptop was a mid-range model. It is now 13 months old and is still performing well. The larger screen model (~17") is of course bigger but for its size it is an incredibly light laptop (my 17" laptop is lighter than most of my friends 15.6"). The graphics are decent, not incredible but they will be adequate for most gamers. On the whole, I would rate this laptop as 5 stars.
The Samsung R780 is a good all-round laptop for either the novice computer user or the more experienced who may want a little more out of their computing experience. The red casing makes it stand out from the crowd and the 17.3" screen size is large and clear. The battery life is good and the sound and screen brightness are easily adjusted. The DVD drive works quickly and efficiently at both playing and burning to DVD and the laptop does not suffer from overheating (as many others do!) The keyboard is of a good size and having the extra number pad on the right is very useful if you do a lot of typing as it is more like a keyboard. The hard drive is huge with plenty of speed through the processors and I have run a number of high usage programs simultaneously without any major problems or stalling. Although this can be a little pricey it is definately worth paying that little bit extra. I have found it to be reliable, quick and very easy to use. The only problem I have with it is that my teenage sons now want to replace their laptops with mine and there is no way I am letting this one go in a hurry so will just have to get saving.
This laptop is definatley near the top of the range at the moment and the price may put a few people off. However if you can afford to spend a little bit more then this laptop is deifnatley worth it. To start with it looks nice and is a relativley small size, although some people may be put off by the red colour. The processor and Ram make sure that everything is done at top speed. Browsing the internet and copy files is done at lightening speed and is a refreshing change if you're used to using an older laptop! I found connecting to the internet easy and you can connect wirelessly or by an ethernet cable. I'm not a big gamer, but i expect that you'd be able to play any game to maximum effect with the graphics card and processor that comes with the laptop. It comes with windows 7 and this is the first time i've used it. So far there doesn't seem to be many software conflicts and it has some nice new features. The laptop has a massive hard disk drive, so you don't need to worry about storing all of your favourite music and photos. The battery life seems ok at the moment, although i generally use it on the mains anyway. I'm yet to try the DVD writer but it is another useful feature to have on the laptop. For now i don't think there are too many better laptops out there and i expect this one will last for a good couple of years.
