Good all round laptop for home use.

I have had a HP laptop previously, with no problems, so when I needed to renew I decided on another mid priced HP laptop. The HP pavilion G6-2245 was the one we decided on. It is pretty basic and not as ''fashionable'' as some, nor is it as thin as the modern ones. Ours is black and it does exactly what it says on the box. We have now had it for just under a year and have had no problems with it. This particular one now has windows 7 installed.
We tend only to use it for personal use and not for business. The layout is as normal, keys are not too small and are easy to use. The mouse (track pad) is easy to use and is fairly sensitive, it has has an in built scroll on it which is easy to use.
I will not bore you with all the ''techy'' stuff as this can be seen on the product information.
It is robust and hard wearing, it has withstood 3 grand horrors under the age of 10 using it for the past 12 months, so it has to be pretty robust!
I do not do a lot of gaming on it, but the kids do play Minecraft and Civilisation type games on it without any problems ? everything seems to keep up with everything!
The sound quality is not the best, but the picture quality, for this price range, is very good.
It has various USB ports and an SD card slot with various other video type ports. The battery life is average, but, value for money wise, a good buy.

      Excellent great performing affordable laptop

I bought this laptop for myself two years ago now. I did not really have any particular requirements when choosing, but ended up deciding on this model as it was on offer and came in a nice range of colours. All that I really wanted was a decent laptop, as my desktop PC was running rather slow, and I thought it would be handy to have a portable laptop to just quickly whip out to browse the web, watch videos online, and access email, with the occasional gaming.

ergonomically speaking, this model has a good sized screen and keyboard which makes for ease of use when typing, and has handy quick keys along the top. The track pad is very easy to use, sensitive, grippy and an easy-to-use side scroller.

When I bought my laptop it came with Windows 7, which I always found very user-friendly, and it also came with Microsoft Office Starter Pack which, whilst not great for someone who uses Office programs a lot, is great for anyone who wants to create the occasional word document or spreadsheet, without having to pay for the software.

2 years later, it still performs very well - I have never had any problems with it, internet speeds are good, it can be a little slow for gaming, especially MMORPGs and the like, but this can be said for any affordable laptop.

All in all a great purchase and I have never regretted buying it.

      Great Laptop All Round

I Recently bought this laptop for myself in May this year from Curries/PC world. And i know that i can safely say that I don't regret my purchase one bit. I did actually want this laptop in purple, But it was sold out and i wasn't really to bothered about the color more about the laptop and how good it was.

When i first brought this product i never knew how good or bad it was as i never read any reviews on it.

But luckily this laptop has been fantastic since buying it and i can honestly say its really easy to use, looks great, it's fast and has a lot of space on the laptop its self without adding an extra hard drive. I have so far downloaded alot of the Sims 3 expansion packs to it and it's still running as smoothly as it did in the first place, the graphic are great aswell

The only problem i had for a few weeks and even sometimes now, is the windows 8 which if you don't know how to use it, it can be a bit challenging at first. other than that its a great product, worth the money as it's not even that dear and most places have great deals on these days.

I honestly do recommend this Laptop to anyone in need of a laptop whether its for at home and playing games or if its simply just for work purposes only... its fantastic!

Would recommend for the average user who likes a bit of game-playing from time to time

In August of last year I was in the market for a laptop as I was about to start university in September. I needed something to use for writing essays, browsing the Internet, watching the occasional movie and even play a game or two, without the high price tag. The HP Pavilion G6-2245ea was the perfect choice for that!

        -Appearance-

Overall it's a good-looking laptop - something that, surprisingly, isn't found often in the cheaper range. The colour is very appealing, as well as the size of the display and keyboard. Personally, I needed some time getting used to working with the track pad but now requires no effort on my part. The lid is plastic and reflective so it has to be swiped regularly as there can be some finger prints left. I'd recommend buying a case or a sleeve if you're going to carry it outside of your home as you might scratch it. One thing I dislike is the position of the fan, which sometimes prevents me from putting it on a bed or a couch (for those lazy Internet-surfing days!). It can be a bit heavy but I've had no problems with that.

        -Price-
The price is perfectly reasonable. Disk space, RAM size, graphics card and overall performance are perfect for the average user's needs so you get a really good value for your money. Mine came with Windows 8 pre-installed so I managed to save on that as well! Windows 8 also has its own protection software so you don't need to purchase an anti-virus program on top of everything.

        -Durability-
I've had this laptop for almost a year now and it's as good as new! It has successfully survived my first year of university and everything that comes with your average student accommodation. I've also carried it often with me to the library and to friends' places and there's not even a single scratch. The keyboard has remained the same as well (that is, no letter fading) despite extensive writing of essays.

        -Performance-
I'm more that happy with this laptop's speed. It does amazingly well with different Internet browsers, office packages (both Microsoft Office and open ones), music and video playes (e.g. Spotify and VLC) and Skype. I've also been able to play a number of games (e.g. Diablo 3) on it and I've had no problems with those either! Booting and turning off are quick as well.
The battery life is also good. I get a good 4 hours with browsing, listening to music and chatting with friends on Skype. Often I turn off the Internet when I don't need it and reduce screen brightness so I get at least another hour of usage.
Windows 8 works perfectly on this laptop, as well as Linux (latest version of Ubuntu). It doesn't have a touch screen, though, so you might not get maximum usage of the apps (e.g. drawings app).

        -Overall-
This is a very good laptop if you need something with which to perform normal daily tasks and have a bit of a budget! I'd recommend it to fellow university students if they're in the market for a laptop for the upcoming year.

          Disadvantages

This producy is great for anyone looking for a laptop with great specs for little money.

I bought this laptop for myself a few months ago from a store, and I can safely say that I don't regret it even slightly. Even though I originally wanted this laptop in purple, I am glad that I decided to go for a different colour rather than a completely different laptop.

          *Appearance*
Even just the little things make this certain piece of technology aesthetically pleasing such as the white LEDs rather than the usual green, and the chrome 'HP' logo on the top right of the laptop lid. The only thing that I dont like about the appearance of this laptop is the speaker which is a long, wide strip above the keyboard, and this is because it is easy for little bits of dust and crumbs to settle in, and stay in. They are hard to get out unless you have a very small pin or needle.

          *Price*
When I bought this laptop, I bought it as a package with Norton 360 Gold and Windows 8 from a Currys superstore. The laptop alone worked out to be around £320, which was alot cheaper than other laptops with similar specs. For example, this particular laptop has 8BG DDR3 Memory and 1TB SATA Hard Drive. For those of you who arent good with computers, this is alot of memory and a huge hard drive. For another laptop with similar specs to those, I was looking at around £400. However, on top of that £400 price tag I would have also have had to pay for Norton and the Windows 8 back up disc since the back up disc is something you must buy, and the Norton 360 is optional, but highly recommended if you don't already have it with a previous laptop/computer. The battery life is another pro that can be associated with this laptop. I hardly ever have to charge the HP Pavilion, and I use it most of the day for gaming and surfing the web. Is the price of £320 a good one for a laptop of these specs? Definitely!

          *Durability*
I couldnt fault the durability of this laptop one bit. I have a one year old daughter and she is constantly climbing/standing on things she shouldnt alot lately. This includes the HP Pavilion g6 that I own. 5 times so far she has stood (and even danced) on my laptop, and in all honesty, I expect to open it up and for everything to be smashed and broken or even just for certain things to not work, but each time it has happened, my laptop has been in the condition I bought it in, and all of its functions have continued to work the way they should.

          *Store*
Now this is the only problem that I have with this laptops functions. I say the laptop, but really it is just Windows 8. There isnt very much of a variety of apps on the store, and the ones that are there, are fiddly to use and dont have all the functions youd expect it to. I downloaded and installed all the usual apps such as Facebook, Skype, Twitter etc straight away, and once I opened the Facebook app I was very confused, and quite annoyed. Alot of the functions that you would usually find on Facebook just werent there, and those that were, were laid out strangely. I couldnt get the hang of the application, and so I uninstalled it, and now instead use the web version on Google Chrome.

          *Speed*
As a very impatient person, I have found in the past that I get annoyed with my laptops easily when they dont work fast enough. In the few months that I have owned the HP Pavilion G6 I haven't had this problem once. It is always very fast at everything it does including downloading apps, opening web pages, and even starting up. The start up itself only takes around 18 seconds, which I find very useful when I need to do something online fast.

          *Overall Summary*
Is the HP Pavilion G6 a great laptop? YES! Is the HP Pavilion G6 worth the money? DEFINITELY! Would I recommend this product to a friend? I already have done, and they love it too!
