This computer packs a punch, to put it bluntly. While it's no longer the best in the room, it still offers a mobile high end gaming solution for gamers on the go. I attend uni by plane, so I want to bring my power with me when whether I am at uni or home for the holidays. The i7 processor gives you 4 real cores hyperthreaded to simulate 8 cores. In effect, this is 8 "virtual cores."
I've thrown Oblivion maxed out and then some, Shogun II Total War, Empire Total War, Far Cry 2, and Fallout 3 at this baby and it eats them all. I can't wait for TES: Skyrim, as I expect my dear friend to run that at near maximum settings as well. LIFE IS GOOD when this is your gaming machine.
The older variants of the G73 did suffer some minor issues relating to faulty drivers used by Asus. As a counterweight, Asus fixed these bugs in time, while one must consider that Asus manufactures some of the highest quality computer parts available to the typical consumer. Because of this, Asus delivers something of a discount for its in-house part production and assembly of the computer. Don't bother with Alienware. It's shiny with a "cool" brand, but you're paying a much higher price per unit of computing power. Also, note the short battery life. However, it's a bloody gaming laptop, so you're not buying this for its power efficiency.
I'll meet you on the field...of CoD!
