After much deliberation, I finally decided that the Acer Aspire 5810TG was the most value for money within my budget. It was very reasonably priced at £500 and the specifications were superior to others in the same price range.
In terms of looks, this laptop is pretty stylish. Its thin and fairly light, and keeps cool even when a number of jobs are being processed thanks to the cooling system it has. Its battery life is also a huge benefit. It easily outlasts my Samsung Laptop by atleast double.
However, in terms of performance, it is extremely disappointing. From my experience, the frequency of crashes is staggering. Each time there was no way of unfreezing it bar holding the power button. Half the time I was using it in fear of what I may lose, saving documents every 5-10minutes. It was also incredibly slow running. Although the processor power was not particularly high (I didn't expect wonders) I expected it to be able to load two windows in internet explorer within a minute! (It sometimes took more like 2-3mins)
Altogether, the Acer is pretty pleasing on the eye, and the specs are decent for the price paid. However performance wise, it is very disappointing.
