When my daughters clubbed together to buy me an expensive coffee machine at Christmas I was over the moon, as I had fancied one for a while and when my eldest daughter bought one last year, it was even more appealing having seen and sampled coffee from her machine. My daughter had explained to me at the time of purchasing her coffee machine and whilst demonstrating to me how it worked, that you need to purchase a separate stainless steel milk jug and a milk frothing thermometer. Therefore I was very pleased to notice on receiving my coffee machine at Christmas, that my daughters had not forgotten to also purchase a stainless steel milk jug and milk frothing thermometer for my machine. I really do think however, that it would be great if the manufacturers of the coffee machines supplied both jug and thermometer with their machine, as it is a bit of a pain to buy something then realise you need to make further purchases in order to be able to use it properly. Whilst it is possible to 'get by' without these items, making a hot frothy latte for instance is far easier when having these items to hand. This milk frothing thermometer is made by Kitchen Craft and mine was purchased online from Amazon, where is it can be purchased for as little as 41p, however postage charges for these thermometers do seem to be quite expensive when purchasing these from some traders on Amazon, so it may pay to shop around. The thermometer itself is good quality and made of stainless steel. It has a handy clip which clips onto your milk jug securely, so your hands are free to hold the jug and operate the milk frother on your coffee machine without having to worry about fiddly thermometers. I simply pour the milk into the jug, clip the thermometer on and begin frothing my milk. It is easy to see the temperature begin to rise on the dial and there is also a shaded red area between 65 and 70 degrees on the dial, which is the recommended temperature for your milk. By shading this area red, it ensures it is really easy to see when your milk is at the correct temperature. Much easier than guessing or having to keep stopping the frothing process to check how warm the milk is. Washing the thermometer is simple, just rinse the stem under the tap and dry, but do not emerge the entire thermometer in water, as the dial is not waterproof. I have used my thermometer many times now and it is a very useful and essential item when making frothy coffees, lattes etc. If you intend to purchase a coffee machine with a milk frother then I highly recommend you purchase one of these thermometers. It makes frothing your milk to the required temperature a simple process and ensures the correct temperature is achieved quickly and easily.
