“ Brand: Annabel Karmel / Product Type: Measuring Spoon „
If you have babies/children then no doubt you have heard of Annabel Karmel. According to the back of one of her book, she is a mother of three young children, is an international best selling author of ten books and is a respected authority on child nutrition. I have a number of her books and do respect her and the information she gets through in her books. She also has a range of kitchen equipment in order to make your babys food such as bowls, spoon, mills etc. The range is cleverly entitled "Make your Own" and she also does a range of chilled ready meals. Due to the fact that I am using her cook books at the moment to make my babys food I have researched some of her cooking products and decided to buy a number of different items from her range. One of the products I bought was her measuring spoons. Now, I know I could have probably got the same product elsewhere for probably half the price as there really is nothing special about them as she has just put her name to them but hey, I decided to get them anyway as I didn't have any spoons and I needed them for lots of recipes. The spoons are stainless steel so in my opinion they will last quite a while and not really get dirty as I find them quite easy to keep clean. They also seem quite good quality to me, well made and easy to use. There are a number of different spoons in the bundle in all the different sizes you would need. There are a 15ml tablespoon, a 10ml dessertspoon, a 5ml teaspoon, a 2.5ml 1/2 teaspoon and a 1.25ml 1/4 teaspoon. I found the smaller one especially useful as when I am making baby food sometimes the ingredients are in such small amounts that you do not need very much at all and so need a smaller spoon than usual to measure out what you want. In conclusion these are good spoons and handy if you are making baby food.
To be honest I got these spoons for free when I bought the Annabel Karmel food cube trays from Boots. I don't think I would have bought them and I certainly don't think they are worth £8. They are very handy and I do use them everyday since weaning began (6 months ago). I didn't own any measuring spoons so I was really pleased when I got them for free. I have the Annabel Karmel Baby and Toddler Meal planner and most of the recipes require one tablespoon of this or 1 teaspoon of that. The start of weaning is a stressful time and every mum wants to get everything exactly right - that's why these spoons are useful. We all own normal teaspoons but when a recipe calls for a teaspoon of something it is hard to judge - this is where these measuring spoons come in handy. The actual spoon part is deep so it is easy to measure an exact amount. As advertised they are slim so they fit in every recepticle. They are held together with a metal ring but this can screw apart so the spoons can come off singly - this makes it easy for cleaning (or shoving in the dishwasher!) I've only really used the teaspoon and tablespoon from the set.
Slim line measuring spoons are ideal for getting into narrow neck jars, especially baby food jars!
