My daughter, aged 5 is a bit of a ballet nut! She has been taking ballet class since she was just 3 and, thanks to watching programmes such as Angelina Ballerina, knows most of the proper French terms for the ballet moves!
As an avid fan of Angelina Ballerina, I decided to keep an eye out for related books for her. I was fortunate enough to fin this particular book in our local PDSA charity shop, where all children's books are £0.10 - worth a punt I thought!
This is one of those fascinatingly interactive books that all little children seem to love - full of envelopes that open, posters to take out and read and even a surprise gift at the end - in this case it was a children's ballet slipper necklace, although ours was broken due to it being a second hand book.
The story revolves around Angelina Mousling winning 2 tickets to the Cindermouse ballet via her ballet school, and her quest to find someone to go with her. The book includes a series of letters addressed to her friends and relations, each of which explaining why each person is unable to go with her - birthday party invites, doctor's appointments etc.
In the end, Angelina receives a letter form the very ballet company she has won tickets to go and see, explaining that one of their dancers has been injured and would Angelina like to come and DANCE in the performance, as opposed to watching it! Angelina accepts and it means she can give her 2 tickets to her parents to come and watch. Just before the performance Angelina receives a good luck card from her parents, containing the necklace lucky charm, a replica of which is of course included within the book for the reader.
In summary, the illustrations are pretty, colourful and a winner with all little girls. The interactive letters, invites and necklace keepsake make this a thought provoking book and one which truly involves the reader.
If your little girl is anything like mine, this book will be read and re-read and got out on every possible occasion, and will be a firm favourite for years to come.
I wanted to write a review on this Angelina Ballerina book due to the fact it is such an interesting and interactive book.
I bought this book for my daughter as a treat,(she is doing exceptionally well at school and very cleverly persuaded me to get reward her accordingly!!!).
The book is a lovely combination of storybook and interactive storytelling.
The story (as always), is beautifully written, almost in the style of a child, if Angelina is upset or happy you can feel the emotion coming off the page at you. Watching the expression on my six year old daughters face makes or breaks a story for me, and as i read this story to her you can see her become absorbed into the book.
The illustrations are colourful, very pink!!!!. The pictures are also very detailed and are a joy to look at, every time i look i see something that i had missed the time previously.
The story,(in a nutshell), starts with Angelina winning tickets to the "Cindermouse", ballet, she spends the story trying to decide who she will take with her. Will she go or will she be part of the entertainment!!!!
On every page the story is elaborated and added to with a letter or invitation for the child reader to take out and read.
There are six letters included in the book in total, two tickets (to the ball), a good luck letter, a poster advertising the Cindermouse ballet and a free gift for the child, a gold star necklace,( also written into the story as it is a good luck present for Angelina from her mum and dad).

I would recommend this book to any parent of young girls!!! This character epitomises all that most young girls aspire to be. This character,(apart from being a soon to be prima ballerina), is portrayed as a strong, feisty and determined young girl who overcomes many problems to achieve her dream, of being a ballerina.
Even if this character is a mouse, with those sort of traits i am more than happy for my daughter to aspire to be her!!!!
Thanks for reading my review!
Imagine Angelina's delight when she wins two tickets to the gala performance of Cindermouse...and then her disappointment as friend after friend has received an invitation to something else that day. At the last minute, however, Angelina is called by the Royal Ballet's director to fill in for an injured ballerina and she gives her two tickets to her parents. There are six envelopes in all with cards and letters to open up and read as well as a special lucky star pendant in the last envelope.
