Does your little girl dream of being a ballerina just like Angelina Ballerina? If so then this book is for you. Angelina Ballerina, full name, Angelina Jeanette Mouseling is a little mouse who loves to dance and dreams of becoming a famous ballerina. She lives in a village of Chipping Cheddar in London, England. She is a very endearing little mouse and has a very sweet personality. There have been many books written about Angelina and she appears in her own televisions series too which my little girl absolutely loves. When it comes on we have to dance around the living room and pretend to be ballerinas just like her too. Angelina likes to wear ballerina clothes too and you often see her in a pink tutu and leotard with her ballet slippers on!
The famous ballerina Darcey Bussell, OBE calls her, "a magical character who fulfils every little girl's dreams." I bought this book at the start of the year for my little girl to celebrate The Royal `wedding although this book does not have any connections to the actual royal wedding of William and Catherine. In this book we can read the plot on the back. "Angelina is full of excitement. She and Princess Sophie are to be bridesmaids at the most important event in all of Mouseland - the royal wedding! But when the big day arrives, Angelina and Sophie are so busy dancing and exploring that they accidentally get stuck in the old tower in the palace gardens.! Who will come to their rescue and will they ever get to the wedding on time?"
This is such a lovely story and features a lot of built up to the big day such as Angelina receiving her invitation to the wedding in the post to her trying on her bridesmaid dress and having it made for her especially. Like all the other Angelina books, Angelina often gets to show off her dance moves too as she likes to do them pretty much all the time wherever she is but in this book she actually gets to do a special dance, a bridesmaid ballet to all of the wedding guests.
The illustrations done by Helen Craig in this book are absolutely beautiful and are quite intricate pencil drawings with lots of colour and detail and they really bring Angelina and her world to life.
I definitely recommend this book for all little girls. I have mine in a nice hardbound version and it has an ISBN number of 978-0-141-32824-9
