“ Brand: Opia / Primark / Type: Ring „
Primark is one of those stores that you either love or hate. Fortunately for Primark the vast majority of fashion lovers flock to their store in their millions to grab and snatch at high fashion garments at a fraction of the price while the haters look on in anguish at the never ending queues of excitable women and moaning men. I am of the former: I love Primark. I will brave the queues for the latest fashions if it means I make a big saving in the long run. The reason I brave the big queues is for items like this- highly fashionable and on trend items like this retail for £10plus in other stores such as Miss Selfridge and Top Shop whereas this piece of costume jewellery set me back a measly £2.
This ring is a gold band and is quite chunky and thick it feels very sturdy when it is worn and comfortable providing that you select the correct size. The main feature of the ring is the huge stone which comes attached to the gold band. The stone is black and very shiny and has quite a 'grungy' look to it, around the edge of the stone is small gold beads that are also very shiny and make it look expensive. The whole look of the ring together makes it very versatile due to the simplicity of the design and colours it goes well with many, many outfits and is great for both day and night.
The ring came in 3 different sizes: small, medium and large. I would advise that if you wish to purchase this ring then you should try it on. This can cause some problems as the ring is attached to a plastic backing and usually has a plastic tie on it too so it is difficult to try it on! However, if you do find it is too big or too small you can always try it on different fingers as it looks great no matter how it is worn.
The downsides to this ring are that, obviously given the price, the ring is not gold and is an imitation metal instead, therefore it leaves a green/brown residue on my finger when I have been wearing it which does look unsightly but is easily washed off and is not visible when the ring is being worn. Another downside to the ring is that it is very big on the finger meaning that you can't wear any other rings on your hand or it looks too much! The size of the ring can also mean that it digs in to the skin near the knuckle which can be uncomfortable and irritating.
Overall, I really like wearing this ring and have worn is both day and night. For just £2 this ring has had a lot of wear out of it and still look in pristine condition. I would definitely recommend this item!
Every girl needs a favourite piece which never fails them! My mum bought me this in blue for my birthday to go with the other presents she got me. It was only £2 and looks great with anything! I'm such a big fan of avon costume jewellery no matter what your budget is you will always find something to wear with any outfit because after all the little things make a big difference to any outfit. And, might i say all of the products including their jewellery are looking so much more better than they used to. Not only do i wear it with blue but i also wear it which alot of my peach clothes it just adds abit of a unique flare and makes the outfit not look so obviously done up.
Its not like most big rings which get in the way all the time and often break after getting caught on something. Its sits perfectly over my knuckle and doesn't feel too tight leaves me with alot of room and is easy to wear all day and night. Obviously it isn't real gold but, It hasn't chipped or made my finger go green. The colour around it is a nice vintage bronzed look they also have alot to choose from to go with the ring. Earing, studs and also bracelets.
I wish i spotted it in black also!
My rating: 5/5 everytime!
I'm not a big wearer of costume jewellery; mainly because I have a few treasured pieces of jewellery that were gifts and these seem to be "safe" choices. However I decided to update my wardrobe and accessorise rather than spend a fortune on new outfits. I was shocked at the price of costume jewellery, some items costing in the region of £20 for rings and necklaces so I headed to Primark where I knew I could get some stylish pieces without breaking the bank. This is how I came about purchasing the Opia Black and Gold Chunky Ring
The Opia Black and Gold Chunky Ring is available in Primark and costs £1.99. Even by costume jewellery standards this is very cheap.
*** Opia Black and Gold Chunky Ring***
The Opia Black and Gold Chunky ring has a gold band ring with a large oval shaped black gem on top. The black oval shaped gem is about 1.5cm wide and about 2cm long. The gem is raised up to around 0.5cm. Around the gem there is a thin gold case which is holding the gem onto the ring.
The ring does not look like an expensive piece of jewellery however it does not look overly cheap or tacky. The gold band is shiny but not yellow or orange looking which makes this look like an average piece of fashion jewellery.
When worn the overall look is not for everyone. The ring is quite large then on your finger which is why I think it looks more balanced when worn on the middle finger. When on your finger it does slightly overlap your other two fingers alongside it. This does not restrict movement however or stop you bending your finger. It is heavy but not as heavy as it looks which makes it easy to wear. Because this is such a statement piece I do feel that it is best worn as a simple piece with quite plain outfits. Personally I feel that if it was worn with other rings or with a bracelet on the same hand it may cheapen the look. However those who are more daring fashion wise may feel it's more suited to wearing with other statement outfits or pieces of jewellery.
What surprised me most about the ring was how durable it was and that it did not leave any marks on my finger like some costume jewellery does. For £1.99 I was expecting only to get a few wears out of the ring before it fell apart or was green and tarnished. I purchased this ring about 6 months ago and have worn it around 8 times now and it still looks as new. There are a few scratches on the top of the ring but nothing that spoils the ring or means that it can't be worn anymore.
The Opia Black and Gold Chunky Ring is available in three sizes; Small, medium and large. I purchased this to wear on my middle finger which is a ring size L. Primark does not state the specific ring sizes however the small was slightly too small for my middle finger but too large for my ring finger (which is an I) therefore I feel the small is approximately a ring size K. I purchased a medium which was a little too large so this is most likely a ring size M therefore based on this logic a large would equate to ring size O. However it is probably worth trying the ring on.
I purchased the ring in a medium which I did feel was a little loose on my middle finger therefore the ring was not as comfortable as I would have liked. I was able to squeeze the ring and bend the metal to make it more narrow which fit my finger better and made the ring feel more secure. As the band of the ring is quite flimsy I was able to do this easily.
For £1.99 I do not think you can expect this to be a high quality piece of jewellery but as far as costume jewellery goes it certainly was more durable than I expected. It is quite a statement ring and not to everyone's taste. I find that rather than wearing lots of jewellery with this ring (i.e other rings or a bracelet) I wear it as a statement piece matched with other black items and outfits. Otherwise I think the overall look could be quite cheap and tacky.
I might not have struck gold with this one but I do think I found a hidden gem!
When it comes to buying costume jewellery I like to buy a few pieces to match each outfit and probably a few random pieces so its very odd when I find something that literally matches every single thing I own. But that is what happened when I bought this 'Opia Black & Gold Chunky Ring' - but I have to admit I have no idea why I bought it in the first place because I didnt even like it - I think I only bought it because it was dirt cheap and I must have known somewhere deep in my mind that Id get a lot of use out of it one day. Anyway now Ive owned this ring (well technically 2 rings but more on that later!) I absolutely adore it and its probably the piece of jewellery that I wear most often because it really does match with everything I own.
Stockists: Primark & it can be found on eBay.
Other Info: Available in sizes Small, Medium & Large - do try it on before you buy it. Available in Black, White, Pink & Leopard Print - thats the only shades Ive seen them in anyway.
*As I said I pesonally own the Black & Gold coloured ring and I had to buy this in size 'Medium' as the Small was far too tiny - DEFINITELY try this on in the store though because the sizing for Primark rings does vary.*
This ring in reality does look a lot like the ring in the image - although admittedly thats not a great picture. This is a very chunky ring so for those of you who dont like big, statement jewellery you will not like this one. I couldnt tell you the exact measurements but the black oval part of the ring that is surrounded by the gold band goes about half way up my finger and slightly overlaps the 2 fingers either side - some might find that uncomfortable but I dont think it is because I can still do my everyday tasks without this restricting my movement or weighing my fingers down so I dont find it a problem. The back of the ring is also reinforced with another gold band that is slightly groved and that coverd the whole back of the ring - then you have the small gold band at the back overall its a pretty simple design yet its actually a gorgeous ring.
The reason I like the simple design as I mentioned is because it ensures it matches with any style, colours or patterns - Ive never found anything that this ring doesnt match with. I wear this literally all the time because its so comfy and it looks really great with casual or going out clothes and people are always commenting on it and asking where I bought it from so Im not the only one sold on the simple yet classic design obviously! I also dont get the green mess from this ring - sometimes when I wear costume jewellery it leaves a green, bruise like mark on my finger if Ive been wearing it for a while but Ive not had a problem with this one so far.
I am going to say that this ring is very high quality because I have never had a problem but this is my 2nd ring of the same design - I borrowed it to a friend and god knows how but she managed to break it. I literally have no idea how because this ring to me seems really sturday and strong and pretty much unbreakable so unless your superwoman like my friend must be to break this I think this ring should last you a really long time. Ive owned my 2nd ring for about 6 months now and there are literally no scratches or wear marks on it all which really is shocking considering how much I wear it so surprisingly Primark have made a really great quality ring here. One that I would fully recommend to everyone - whether this is your usual style or not because I guarantee you will love it - its become a wardrobe staple for me! Get your as soon as possible!
