      Recommended site, a great service

I bought forza motorsport 4 from these guys and i have to say credit where credit is due (given the financial "credit" crisis they are in) they were bang on what i'd expect from a video game retailer. I had to have Forza Motorsport on the day of release, and the only way i could get the pre-order pack was to pre order for post, not pick up in store. Normally i'd go into the store on release day and guarantee myself a copy there and then but i took the risk and it paid off. It arrived on the date of delivery as requested.

It was sent in a very well packaged box, arrived undamaged and actually had some air pillow pad things to protect it. Given the postage was free i'd say that's pretty much what i'd expect from them. Their website is very easy to navigate, you can contact them for help if needed and the latest releases are all there on the site, not a single game missed. Certificates are displayed on all banners for games, next to them on the page in massive clear text and you can get more information about the game.

When you pre order they wont take money until they ship. You can cancel at any time before they shop, and they wont charge you. Refunds are dealt simply by returning to to them and letting them know why it was returned. The site has the games categorised by genre but sometimes they can get muddled, and this can sometimes be a matter of opinion, for example, WWE is a sports game, others say its an Action game. Simple things like that so to overcome them i'd put it in both categories.

The support team are very friendly and reply within a couple of working days. They also have an email subscription service so if you want to keep up to date with the latest games they will gove you links to the products on the website and you can get the game you want there and then without searching.

Overall my experience with these guys has been fantastic, i was skeptical about getting a pre order on release day but actually it pulled off alright, and turned out to be an exceptional service.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I wouldn't buy from their site until properly fixed

Update: SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG
since my last review of game.co.uk a month ago (Give or take) it has become apparent that although game have begun to return to their normal behavior of good games, good prices and a good customer service, there are still a few problems with there new site for example they have fixed all apparent and major glitches but at this time there customer services are still behind on emails and catching up with phone calls and there are still a few glitches with there site such as sometimes a game is advertised at one price and you get charged more or the product is in stock then you go to buy it and its out of stock etc.

as of yet i have still not received my money back from the game for the transaction that i didn't do and talks with customer services have lead to nothing but a small sorry and £5 refund which considering they took a lot more from my account doesn't relate to much (Think i may be going to contact my bank again so that they can put me through to the void transaction people).
overall although i have yet to receive my money it was a trying time for game and so i cant blame them to much for the system failure that they had. to that end I have changed the star rating to 3 saying yes it is safe to shop with them again but they still need to fix some mistakes that they shouldn't have had in the first place maybe next time they will think twice before fixing something that didn't need fixing.

      (OLD)
I see that no one has done a review on GAME.co.uk since their website update in late august so i will do one for it as it stands now and will update it in a month to see how they have recovered from this disaster that they have gotten themselves into.

I'l start from the beginning, around the 25th of august Game .co.uk updated their website to offer more community based tools and to change the look of the 2010 site. this eneded in a disaster on the first day of release when no one could get onto the site. this was quickly fixed and another disaster accured when no one could log onto their accounts (also fairly quickly resolved) just before the next disaster when only a few people could see the site the way that game intended it to look everyone else could only see huge text and the pre-orders were not showing up in the order tracker this took a long time and is only partially resolved now (10-09-11), in order to fix this they made it so that no one could cancel their orders, or amend them. this was also a disaster as many people did not get their copies of driver 2, or deus Ex on time and now the Dead Island game that came out yesterday (09-09-11) which many have still not received.
It has also come to my attention today when i got my bank statement through that on the 27th of august £39.99 was taken out of my account by game even though i hadn't ordered anything for that price since last november. (I gather that this happened due to me changing my card details on the same day that the money was taken out.
since this all happened games customer services have been poor (fair enough with all the emails and phone calls coming in) but when you have paid to be on hold for 4 hours you dont want an answer of we will phone you back when we can or you'r pre-order is on the way, and then two hours later getting an email saying that you'r order has been canceled.

My advice to anyone either new to GAME.co.uk or old DONT BUY FROM THEM for at least the next month. give them a chance to fix the bugs with their website and customer service that way you can buy with confidence that you'r pre-order or any order will get to you with more efficiency than what game are offering at the moment and if something does go wrong you will not have to wait weeks for a reply.
although i dont mind the new websites layout i did prefer the older one and to be honest game shouldnt have tried to fix something that wasnt broke.

please see this as my opinion and a WARNING
No i wouldnt recommend at this point in time

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        try it out

When you go onto Game.co.uk you will see that it uses the household colours which is a kind of shocking purple which are also the colours you will see inside of the Game stores.

Their site is easy to navigate your way around. Going down the left hand side of the page there are a number of different categories which will help you find what you want, for example if you want to find games for the Wii then you click on Wii under the platform category.

In the middle of the page are all their latest offers and savings so you dont have too look too far to find deals which could save you money. You can also use your reward card and collect your points with online purchases so you dont miss out from buy online. If you are after a certain game then there is a search bar where you can type the name of the game in which will save you alot of time.

They offer free delivery so this will save a trip to their stores if you want a game but the only downfall is that you will have to wait for the item to be delivered so if you want to play the game instantly then this wont really suit you.

Overall I would say the online prices are cheaper than the instore prices. Ive seen games that have had £15 of their instore price. Also you will be able to pick up better deal online compared to instore.

Inconclusion Game.co.uk is cheaper than going in their stores and saves the hastle of queing up.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Don't usually offer the best prices but worth checking out anyway

Game isn't the website that I visit most often when looking for any type of computer game to buy as they don't offer the cheapest rates either online or offline. I usually find that play.com and hmv.co.uk are both quite a bit cheaper than game so I very rarely buy things online from here. I have occasionally found a cheaper product on the game website though and the products online are cheaper than buying from the Game store and with the free delivery they offer it's still worth checking out.

The great thing about game is that they have the biggest range of games as this is obviously the only thing they sell. If I can't find something I'm looking for anywhere else online they'll almost always have it on game.

When looking up a product you can see everything you need to know about it including a picture and description, whether it's in stock or not, reviews on the products and they even sometimes have a little trailer showing what happens in a game.

I've bought a few things from here and the whole process is very easy and quick through choosing a product, adding it to your basket and paying for it. I've only ever waited a few days for something to be delivered. The Christmas before last I purchased a couple of last minute games from here less than a week before Christmas and I was so surprised and very happy that they actually turned up a couple of days later with plenty of time to spare before Christmas day.

As I said, game isn't a website that I regularly use as their prices are generally more than other websites, but for the odd cheaper purchase and just for looking up information about a game, this site is great.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        have a look

Game.co.uk is the online version of the Game stores but alot of their prices are cheaper than in store.

When you first go onto Game.co.uk you will see that its well layed out. They have the different categories at the left hand side of the page For example they have the category 'plat form' with all the different platforms underneath such as Xbox 360, playstation 3 and wii. In the middle of the page they advertise all their lastest deals and offers so you dont have to hunt too hard to find the good deals.

Game.co.uk offeres free delivery on any of their items so its much more convenient to shop online because you can get what you want without having to que up. You can even use your reward card online when you make your purchases so you dont miss out.

Their online prices are alot cheaper then their instore prices. You get about £5 of but have seem some really cheap things on here such as the game 'bully' for the Wii, online they were selling it for just £7.99 and their instore price was about £15.

They aso sell products such as clothes and toys so you dont hae to use this site just to purchase games.

In conclusion Game.co.uk is much better to shop on than their stores as you will find better prices and is more convenient.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A very good online retailer who I will have no problem dealing with in the future

I'm a big fan of online retailers. I have 2 jobs, work 6 days a week & only ever really get to go shopping on Sundays. Online retailers help me buy the things I want & get it delivered to my home. Plus video games can be considerably cheaper online.

Game.co.uk is the online store of the High Street Retailer of the same name. The company was founded in 1991 & purchased by the American company Electronics Boutique in 1999. Their online store sells hardware & software for all the current gaming platforms. Sony, Nintendo & Microsoft all have their consoles sold on this website along with games, accessories & some other gaming related items. The website sell both new & pre-owned consoles & games at competitive prices & their site is easy to navigate. It has clear pricing & stock availability listings & it's search option seems to work well & display the item that you are searching for.

I have used them a few times & have never had a problem (so I can't comment on how good their service is when things go wrong). Whenever I have used them I have always received my item quickly, well packed as as ordered (new & sealed when ordering new or slight scratches on pre-owned). The last time I used them, I ordered a stock item at 12.00 p.m. It was sent out the same day 1st class & was received the next day. The carriage for this was even free.

If you buy video games online I would highly recommend checking out the item you are considering buying on here. It may well be cheaper than the website that you are looking at & their service is very good.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Well made, easy to navigate site

Game have a really well laid out site, it is extremely easy to navigate around and has a clean layout.

Below the search bar at the top of the page the different store sections are separated in a vertical bar. These are all image rollovers so you know when you are hovering over the button as it changes colour.

If these navigation categories are not broken down enough then on the left hand side of the page there are subcategories such as platform, product type, price, Article Types and What's New sections. On the right hand side of the page there are sections for the shopping cart, game rewards and downloads section.

At the moment the center of the page has sale section, but below this there are columns containing information on news, reviews and help.

The basket section is really easy to navigate too. It begins with '1. Your Basket' follwed by '2. Delivery & Payment', then there is '3. Review & Confirm' and the final stage is '4.All Done!' which s just really a confirmation page. These are the only steps needed to complete a checkout.

There is store finder on the site too, all you need to do is enter your postcode and it will tell you the nearest store located near you.

The member section is very useful. The best thing about it is the wish list feature where you can store your most favourite / most wanted products so you can purchase them at a later date!

The help section of the site is very in depth and there is a lot of information store there, but if you require any extra help you can always just contact game.

I think overall this is a very good site with a clean layout and it is easy to navigate around. I personally prefer Play.com 's layout and functionality hence why i shop there more online.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        They're RARELY the cheapest

This review of GAME's website isn't so much an examination of their website as it is really is them as a company, because it's hard to argue against the well designed site, and it's mostly decent prices, but it is easy to knock them as a company that simply doesn't know how to juggle online and offline trading well, in a way that's surely only going to hurt them as a company.

The site is very well laid out; it separates all of the different sections, such as games, accessories, DVDs, and other knick-nacks, as well as having many sub-levels such as different gaming platforms. It relies on a lot of pictures which means you need to ensure your net is working well to get the full benefit, but it is a nice looking site that pops visually and stands out to the viewer.

They're a strange company for pricing, though, and here's where my criticism comes in. In store, I VERY rarely use GAME, as I find their prices (often £44.99) for a game to be archaic and extortionate given that other stores online such as Gameplay and Play.com will often sell for £5-10 cheaper. Online, however, they are a bit better and have had a few pretty good deals (I just the other day bought Guitar Hero World Tour for a friend for £7.99 when it is £15-20 most places), but still they're hardly the cheapest game merchant online and in fact one of the priciest generally. However, they seem to do well and they're a brand that everyone knows.

I do like their stores and their site design-wise, and I do go to both quite a lot, but it's rare that I ever buy anything in either.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        3 stars

GAME are arguably the biggest game and console retailer in the UK, their website allows you to purchase things from the company without having to actually goto the shops.

        ==== Range of goods ====

The range of goods available at Game.co.uk is pretty good, all the big realeases will be available, sometimes it may not have what you are looking for but chances are this is because you are looking for a fairly obscure game, in which case the only chance you have is if someone has traded it in allowing you to buy it pre-owned.

        ==== Prices ====

This is the major problem with the GAME company, their prices tend to be more expensive than online retailers, for example Fifa 10 is available for £39.99 from Game.co.uk but you can get it for £34.99 from Amazon. I find the prices for games that have been around for quite a while to still be expensive and in that respect would consider them a rip off. Sometimes whilst browsing the pre-owned section on the website I have found the pre-owned games to be only £1 or £2 cheaper than the game "new" this is quite simply unacceptable and would sometimes prevent me from using them.

==== So why shop at Game? ====

Ok, so there are some advantages to shopping with Game.co.uk for example if you have a Game reward card then you can use that to earn points without visiting the shop, this will allow you to gain money off future purchases. Now I know the "rewards" you get from the card aren't great but it's better than nothing.

The postage is also free like most online retailers I have found them to be fairly swift at dispatching orders which is another bonus, there is nothing worse than having to wait around forever for a game or film to be delivered to you.

        ==== Overall thoughts on Game.co.uk ====

Overall game.co.uk isn't bad for buying games and consoles but they aren't great either, as mentioned previously they are usually slightly more expensive for things than a lot of other online retailers and as money talks they will not be my first stop when looking for something, if however they have a product for the same price as someone like play.com or amazon then I would use them as at least I would earn the reward points.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Why bother with the shops when the website is this good?!

Game.co.uk is the website for the high street chain Game whose shops have got absolutely everywhere. Most town centres now actually have two or three!

I actually choose to use the website over the shops everytime for the following reasons.

Price are actually either the same or cheaper on the website.

You get free delivery on everything.

You can still but preowned games etc. for a fraction of the new price.

You earn reward points on all your purchases to get money off any further purchases.

The website is really easy to use and navigate.

There is plenty of information and even honest consumer reviews on all their products which you can't get in the shops.

Even with prices the same as the shops you can still earn cashback through cashback sites such as Topcashback (see seperate review) which makes the prices between three and five percent cheaper!

Delivery is by first class mail so if you can wait two days for your purchase it is well worth uusing the website instead of the shops.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Would not recommend

Game.co.uk is the online internet site that is operated by the Game store to sell games online. The store is very much similar to companies stores.

The main homepage of the site gives the very latest offers and pre orders available games, games that are more likely to generate more income for the company. Along with these offers on the homepage, on the side of the screen is a list of areas that can be found on the site, an index, to areas such as each different computer console. Along the top of the screen is the ability to log into your user account.

When you click on the index on the side, you are taken to a sub home page for each console, such as the PS3 and Xbox 360. From there you have the ability to search console bundles, games or accessories. It is easy to search through the menu system to search for a particular item, such as a genre of game, but it is more difficult to use the menu system if you are looking for a particular game.

Therefore it is easier to use the search system, this can be found at the top of the screen and it will usually bring up the game that you want. Although on occasions I have found that I have had to look through a number of pages of search results to find the actual game or product I was looking for.

When you search for games, you are given basic information about the game, with possible of a review of the game. One thing that I do not like about the site is the lack of user input and reviews about the game. On rivals sites such as Amazon.co.uk and Play.com, users give their own opinion on the game and while they may not always be the most useful, they are at least a start.

In terms of ordering on line, the system is a standard online ordering service that does not take too long to go through. Although in terms of delivery I have noticed that it does take longer than other sites such as Amazon, normal about a day or two slower.

There have been a couple of new features on the site, such as the ability to download certain games from the site and the ability to rent certain games, but so far I have not used this service.

Another feature is the ability to purchase pre owned games from the site, just as you would from a physical shop. I would have problems with using this service, as you have no idea about the condition of the medium that the game is on. As when you purchase the game while you are in one of Game's store you have the ability to inspect the condition of the game before you purchase it.

One final problem that I still have with the site is the cost of games, which are the same price that you would pay within a store. I find this weird as it has been shown that it costs a business less to sell products online, and the only explanation is that Game want to ring as much profit out of you as possible. I am surprised that many people actually use the site as it is so more expensive that other online sites.

Overall I would not recommend Game.co.uk as the game on the site are overpriced and the delivery of the games are not the quickest, so I would recommend another sites such as Play.com or Amazon.

great online store, great for game freaks!

I love the game website! love been the main word here!

On the website you can buy a huge variety of games for every console, just as in the shops. Such as play station games, pc games and wii games. On the site you are also able to buy accessories, sale items, pre-owned games and download games to play!

I find the site very easy to navigate around, a simple list with each section and a simple click and your on the essential page.

It is also possible to buy and use a reward card, costing £3 on the site. This is useful if you make a lot of purchases like myself. You earn points for every item you buy as well as the option of special offers with the card. This is useful, but only if you shop regularly with Game.

I have purchased a couple of pre-owned games, they have always been in perfect working order and with the instruction booklets. Personaly though, i feel pre-owned games are rather highly priced for been pre-owned, but this is similar to other high street shops.

I find you can always grab a good deal on the sale section of the website, some of these deals are also available in the Gamje shop on the high street. The overall prices online are very reasonable, and pretty much inline with other highstreet retailers.

When ordering online with the Game website, it is always a safe transaction and ive never had any difficulties in paying for games using a credit card. Delivery is also very speedy which is great!!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

GAME is a very good websites to buy video games and other gaming product.

I have always shopped at the GAME store in my town center for video games as I have always thought they have very reasonable prices and always have excellent deals on. The GAME website is no different.

The website is well designed making it so easy to navigate and find what you want. Its also really user friendly making it easy for anyone to use. The prices here are quite reasonable, although they are normally priced the same as most other gaming stores. However, GAME does have a really good reward system. You can purchase a GAME Rewards Card for only 4.99 and for every purchase after you have bought that card you will be rewarded with points. When you have gathered enough points you can then exchange them cash to be taken off your next purchase. Also, when you pre-order a game you get double the points you would usually get when just buying one.

Also, when buying games, the payment is quick and they normally arrive within the first 5 days of purchase. Also, they are also always securely wrapped to protect them.

Overall, I think GAME is a very good websites to buy video games and other gaming product.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Game.co.uk

Game has to be one of the top places to buy your self a console game or consoles from. Online on the site now you can actually even rent out games from the site! I just have started to rent out games from Game and got 21 free days trial and found the service to be very positive. I got my games on time and managed to cancel my free trial and avoid being charged anything at all.

Game online does actually offer cheaper prices than what you would get in store for the games. A good example of that would be the Ashes 2009 game coming out on Friday it is actually cheaper online plus you get more reward points for ordering it online.

I have ordered other games online and managed to get very fast delivery from GAME always. They usually end up sending the games to you in just the short time of 2 days. Having ordered online once they actually sent me the wrong game of Harry Potter. I had to contact customer services to sort the matter out which they did for me.

Rather shop online at Game as some sites even provide cash back for shopping through them. Game is a preferred choice for me rather than the store because of its lower prices online.

Game is surely the UK's biggest video game outlet; their shops seem to be everywhere you go when shopping. I always find their range of merchandise to be good and usually well priced, and their sales are not to be missed! Convenient then, specifically for us geeky gamers, that they offer a great online service.

I've bought from game many times on the high street, but I generally find that when I shop online there is a greater range (probably because you can only fit so many things on a floor shop). I decided to take a look at Game's sale a few months ago and found there to be a lot of choice at good prices. I ear marked a few things for my Wii and set off to price check elsewhere. I found that of the few items some were cheaper on Game and some cheaper elsewhere. Eventually I made a decision on 2 games, (one from game, one from another site). I purchased a wii game for just £9.99, and was happy to pay that with the logic that I wasn't going to be throwing money away if the game wasn't to my liking.

The £9.99 I paid for the game was the only money I spent on it as there were no extornionate delivery charges to get wound up about. I think it always helps and encourages customers when an online store offers free delivery (which game offers on everything). The game itself came well wrapped and delivery was three days; which I consider to be standard when ordering online.

The layout of their website was easy to use and navigate. I could easily go straight to the wii section, or do a quick search for a specific game. The prices are clearly laid out, and the price you see is the price you pay. I also found it helpful that each product had it's own page with a good description of what you were buying and you could see customer reviews of the product.

Overall, I was very happy with Game's online service; though I always think it's worth price checking (specifically with other Gaming giants such as gamestation).
