      One of the nicest tarts I've tried!

      ~~~~~~~~ Yankee fan ~~~~~~~~ I have recently become a big fan of Yankee wax tarts having first been introduced to them by the reviews on this very website! I bulk-bought tarts from ebay a while back and have been gradually working my way through them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ About Yankee candles ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For those of you who aren't very familiar with Yankee candles, here is a little background. The company was founded in the US in 1969 when 16 year old Michael Kittredge made his mother a candle from melted crayons. And with that simple gesture, Yankee Candles was born! There is a huge range of fragrances available, and the range is always changing and expanding, with new scents released for different seasons. ~~~~~~~~~~ Using the tarts ~~~~~~~~~~ Candles are available in different sizes, and some come in jars, but the one I am reviewing here is a wax tart, which actually has no wick. All you need to do is unwrap the tart and place it into a tart burner, light the tealight underneath, and wait for the scent to be released. They cost around the £1 mark, but prices do vary so shop around online! All wax tarts come shrink wrapped, and this particular tart is a deep orange colour, and I could smell the very intense fragrance before opening the tart. I would say that I could detect more of a mango scent than peach, and it has a very nice sweetness to it. Once my oil burner was lit, it took a while for the scent to kick in, but when it did I have to say I really liked it. As a lover of fruity fragrances, this was a good choice for me and the mango is definitely the most prominent of the two scents. It is very sweet and quite strong, but to me it isn't at all unpleasant. And best of all for me was that the scent lingered even for hours after the candle had been blown out. Of all the tarts I have tried, this is the scent that lasts the longest once the candle has been blown out, making it even better value for money! I am still using this tart and have probably had it burning for around five or six hours altogether, and I do feel it is now coming to the end of its life. But I think the fact that the scent lingers after use makes this a great choice of wax tart, and one of the best I've used so far. ~~~~~~~~~~ In summary ... ~~~~~~~~~~ For lovers of fruity fragrances, and of mango in particular, this is a great choice of wax tart. It has a gorgeous, sweet scent that lingers long after the candle has been extinguished. Overall I would say this is great value for money and a great choice of wax tart.
        This is a beautiful tart from Yankee Candle
        WHAT IS IT? A candle in a jar from Yankee Candle with a fruity mango and peach fragrance.  I have got the large jar and it has got a 150 hour promised burn time. THE FRAGRANCE This is a beautiful fragrance.  It is one of the most fruity Yankee Candle fragrances that I have tried.  The main smell is a rich and sweet mango but under that is the peach and that gives the fragrance a very juicy fragrance that reminds me of the summer. WHAT I THINK This is a beautiful fragrance and I am very happy I bought the jar because it is so strong and fruity.  When I light the candle it doesn't take very long until I can smell the rich and quite soapy smell of mangoes, it appears very quickly and as soon as I notice it I can smell it all the time.  The peach fragrance occurs a little bit later and that makes the mango smell smoother but also sweeter. The fragrance is so strong that when my candle has been burning for half an hour I can smell it all over my home, it is strongest in the lounge where I keep my candle and I love it when I go into the garden or to the front door because when I come back in it smells stronger than ever.  After I blow my candle out after about three hours the mango and peach fragrance stays very apparent for longer than an hour and then fades slowly so that if I burn it in the early evening the smell lasts until the end of the night. What I like about this candle as well is the way it neutralises bad smells, I think that is because of the strong mango but it stops bad smells instead of just masking them. When I am changing my baby's nappy it does not smell as bad to me or other people in the room if I am burning this candle at the same time. ANYTHING ELSE You can buy Mango Peach Salsa in three jar sizes that are between £9 and £15 or it is available as a tart for £1.30 each and that has a burning time of 8 hours. 5 Dooyoo Stars.
          Another quality wax tart from Yankee.
          Mango Peach Salsa is one of the Yankee wax tarts my daughter has bought for me. She often treats me to a couple of wax tarts when she is out shopping and although she often buys me my favourite fragrances, she sometimes surprises me with one I haven't tried but thinks I will enjoy. Knowing I enjoy fruity fragrances, she thought this one would appeal to me and she was right. Mango Peach Salsa is a strong and peachy-smelling fragrance, its sweet scent quite evident whilst it is still in its packaging. The wax itself is also peach in colour and with the mango and peaches on the label, there is no doubt this an aptly named fragrance - believe me, some are not! Yankee describe Mango Peach Salsa as 'sweet and zesty' with juicy mango and peach livened with citrus, ginger flowers and pink pepper. I am fond of burning the woody, spicy, fresh or fruity citrus fragrances more than the floral ones and so I was looking forward to this one. Before I came to use the wax tart, I popped it in my underwear drawer as these tarts also make lovely drawer scenters. When I came to use the tart I placed it into the deep well in my burner and lit a tealight underneath. As soon as the wax began to melt, the fruity aroma began to fill the room with a strong peach fragrance. After a further couple of minutes I could detect some other notes creeping in and the mango fragrance was evident along with a subtle hint of spice, which was probably the ginger flowers and pink pepper. The fragrance from my wax tart filled my downstairs rooms and out into the hallway and up the stairs. My daughter could smell the scent in her bedroom and although strong, it was not overpowering or sickly in any way. I am also pleased to report that fragrance also hangs in the air for a long time after you extinguish the tealight or when it has burned out too. In terms of longevity, I found the fragrance released from this wax tart exceeded the eight hours suggested by Yankee and I found I achieved around nine hours of strong fragrance from this wax tart before the fragrance began to fade, which is a bonus. I have experienced some wax tarts which appear strong in fragrance at first but then quickly disappear. This wasn't the case here, as the fragrance slowly faded and I was able to eke out around twelve hours overall before the scent finally disappeared. By buying these wax tarts or even the tealights or votive candles, it is a cheap way to sample the many fragrances Yankee offer. The fragrances are also available in glass jar formats and these are considerably more expensive to buy, so I personally find buying these wax tarts which are priced between 99p - £1.20 each, an ideal way to find out if you like the fragrance before spending more on a glass jar candle. Mango Peach Salsa is one I will definitely purchase again. It is not my favourite fruity fragrance by Yankee, but one I still really enjoyed and in terms of longevity and strength of fragrance it cannot be faulted. Yankee advise that you try mixing and matching the scents to create your own unique fragrance and this is something I keep meaning to try at some point too. It is easy to slice the wax tarts into half or smaller segments, which is something you would have to do anyway if the well in your burner is not deep enough to hold a whole tart, but also by doing this you could mix with a segment of another wax tart and see what happens, thus creating your own fragrance. Yankee wax tarts and the other candles in the range are available to buy at branches of Clinton cards, Debenhams and Collectables as well as other card and gift shops and can also be found online at many retailers including Amazon and YankeeDoodle.co.uk.
            A lovely sweet fruity smell but avoid the sampler
            - Why I Bought - Until recently I wouldn't have said I was particularly into candles, if I was given them as a gift I would happily have used them and I have sometimes bought them as gifts for other people but I had never bought any for myself. That was until I read review after review raving about the amazing Yankee Candle range. I simply had to try them for myself to see what all the fuss was about. I noticed a selection of these candles were half price in Clintons last month so I bought one of every scent available as I am new to the range. As I had just purchased a wax tart burner I would have preferred to buy the wax tarts but only one scent was available in the tart form so I bought this as well as seven sampler size candles. One of these was Mango Peach Salsa. - Yankee Candles - The candles come in a large variety of different sizes depending on how much you want to spend and how long you want the candle to burn for. The following information is taken from Yankee.co.uk Sampler candles - £1.80 per candle, burning for up to 15 hours Tea Lights - Pack of 12 £6.45, burning for 4-6 hours each Wax Tarts - £1.25 per tart, burning for up to eight hours Small Jar - £8.39 per candle, burning for 25-40 hours Medium Jar - £16.99 per candle, burning for 65-90 hours Large Jar - £19.99 per candle, burning for 110-150 hours Small Tumbler - £9.95 per candle, burning for 35-45 hours Medium Tumbler - £15.49 per candle, burning for 45-50 hours Large Tumbler - £19.15 per candle, burning for 70-90 hours Perfect Pillar - £14.99 per candle, burning for up to 95 hours - The Mango Peach Salsa Sampler - The sampler wouldn't have been my ideal choice as I have read that sometimes they aren't as strong as the wax tarts or jars. Having said that, my first experience of Yankee candles was with the Cinnamon Stick sampler and this had a good strength. I wanted to try all the reduced scents available but Mango Peach Salsa did really appeal to me anyway as I could smell the fresh fruity fragrance through the packaging. The sampler comes packaged in a cellophane wrapper with a label that clearly states the brand, name of the fragrance and has a picture of fruit. I was instantly impressed with the strong scent I could smell through the packaging. This fragrance is meant to smell 'sweet and zesty ... juicy mangoes and peaches livened with citrus, ginger flowers and pink pepper'. On first impressions I could smell the sweet fruit but I wasn't able to detect the ginger flowers or pink pepper. None the less it was a lovely smell. The candle is a warm yellow colour which goes well with the name and the scent. - Burning the Candle - I decided to light this small sampler candle one evening when I fancied trying one of my new candles. I gave my husband the choice and he chose this one over some of the more floral candles. I lit the candle in the living room while we were watching TV. After about twenty minutes I commented that I couldn't smell anything and my husband agreed. So I decided to go to the bathroom and have a good sniff when I came back. Still nothing! So I went closer to the candle and had another sniff. With my nose almost being burnt by the flame I could smell the same sweet fruity smell that I could smell when the candle was still in the cellophane. The scent didn't seem to be diffusing around the room at all. I was very disappointed, especially as what little scent I could smell smelt lovely! Our living room is of average size so I didn't think there would be any problem with the fragrance filling the room. However, the next day I tried it in our small bathroom and the results were only marginally better. As I could barely smell Mango Peach Salsa I can't really comment on the smell other than saying it is sweet and fruity. I really like the scent. The candle probably burned for around 12 hours which is good but slightly below the 15 hours it is meant to burn for. For me the main purpose of the candle is the fragrance and I got very little with this candle. However, the scent I could smell was lovely so it is one I would buy again but certainly not in the sampler form. Next time I will go for the wax tart. - Price and Availability - The standard price for a sampler is around £1.80. I think this is a very reasonable price but I managed to get mine for 87p in Clintons. A very good price as I like the scent but not worth it really as I couldn't smell it! Still not much money wasted and at least I learnt next time I should go for the wax tart. They are also available from Yankee.co.uk, Yankee Direct, Amazon and Ebay. It is worth shopping around as you definitely don't need to pay the RRP. - Would I Recommend? - I would recommend Mango Peach Salsa but not as a sampler. It is sweet, fresh and fruity which is lovely but the sampler did not perform well as I could barely smell it. Next time I will buy the wax tart.
              Peach Salsa the Yankee way
              Introduction Due to the number of wax tarts I get through I generally buy bulk orders now when it comes to stocking up my stash and have found that both amazon and Ebay are great places to buy collections from. For a little under £10.00 inclusive of postage I can either select 10 wax tarts of my own choosing or buy a put-together pack of similar types of fragrance which work out cheaper than if I were to buy them separately. Normally I choose the wax tarts I want but from time to time I'll let the seller decide what they're going to send me as it often gives me the chance to try a fragrance that's new to me. The Mango Peach Salsa wax tart was a recent inclusion in a collection I bought and although I'd seen the wax tart before in Yankee stockists it wasn't a fragrance that I had tried so eager to see what this one was going to be like it was the first tart in my latest batch that I tried. Wax Tarts By now the majority of regular readers of my reviews will know that a wax tart is a piece of fragrance-infused wax that when melted produces a room-filling aroma. Yankee produce dozens of different scents in a number of different formats and the wax tart range is the cheapest way to get an idea of the fragrances on offer and providing around 8 hours of scent they often represent excellent value for money when you consider that they tend to cost just over a pound each. I'm a fan of Yankee and their products as the number of reviews I've written about them will testify and constantly top up my collection of wax tarts as I find them to be a great way of providing a pleasant fragrance around my home which I find creates a welcoming and warming atmosphere. Wax tarts are unlike traditional candles in that they don't have a wick, instead they are placed into the well of a tart burner and melted from beneath by a lit tea light. I find that they are easy to remove and replace once the wax has solidified and they are my favoured choice when it comes to Yankee's range of products as they allow me to sample the various fragrances that are on offer without having to spend a lot of money. Mango Peach Salsa was a new fragrance to me as mentioned and I imagined that this was going to offer a mouth-wateringly juicy fragrance full of fruit and interest so did it live up to my expectations? Mango Peach Salsa Pale Yellow in colour and complete with a bright illustrative sticker I knew from the moment I unwrapped the Mango Peach Salsa wax tart from its confines that this was going to be one that I was going to enjoy. It had a strong fruity aroma even in its solid state and after only a few minutes of melting its presence became noticeable. It's an exotic fragrance, packed with fruity and sweet highlights and really lives up to its Salsa name with it being a fragrance-packed wax tart with plenty of impact. It's a delicious aroma, very obvious and in-your-face and really brightened up my room when it was being melted, there's a lot of depth to the fragrance with citrus undertones that support the bright Peach and Mango inclusions and to me smelled like an exotic fruit salad or cocktail. Definitely evoking the feelings of Summer when it's warm outside and vaguely reminiscent of holidays abroad this is a bright fruity fragrance that doesn't hold back. If anything Yankee might have gone a touch overboard with Mango Peach Salsa as it ever so slightly shifts from being authentic smelling to slightly oversweet and synthetic and I'm sure that many people would find this one a little too fragrance-filled as it doesn't hold back in it's intensity, It's definitely too strong for a small room and would more than likely overpower a bathroom or small kitchen but for a living room or hallway I think it's ideal. I had mine melting in the middle of my coffee table in my living room and after an hour or so could detect it all round my home, it's a fragrance that travels well and really fills a room with its sweet, uplifting fragrance so do be warned that it's going to be noticeable. I could even smell this one on the outside approach to my home after having my dog out for a walk which really goes to show just how powerful this one is when it's had chance to melt for a couple of hours. For anyone who is fond of the Fruit fragrances that Yankee produce they should find plenty to enjoy with this one and whilst it can be slightly overpowering at its peak it does slowly start to die down in intesity and remains something that is noticeable throughout its life span. I easily exceeded 8 hours of fragrance from my wax tart, I had it melting on and off over the course of a couple of days and even in its final hours it still remained noticeable in my living room. As far as value for money goes I think you get plenty for your money with this one and for me it has been one of the strongest smelling Fruit fragrances I've had from Yankee which is easily up there with some of my other favourites, my only regret with this one is that I left it so long before discovering it for myself as I've overlooked this one in the past and favoured other choices. Conclusion I have no complaints whatsoever with Mango Peach Salsa and this would be a fragrance I buy again in a larger, longer-lasting format as I do think it would suit the Housewarmer jars that are also available. Wax tarts are great at introducing a scent to Yankee enthusiasts and whilst this format is very strong I do think it would benefit from the weaker smelling jar format as well as I imagine it would be nice to have this consistently burning over a longer period of time. Many might find the intensity of this particular wax tart to be too strong though so do be warned that it's one that you won't fail to notice if you buy it so if the subtle fragrances are more appealing then this probably won't be one for you. Needless to say I loved mine and it's one that I will definitely buy again, thanks for reading my review.
                Lovely this really is once again from Yankee!
                As a fan of anything Yankee the other day I bought one of these Mango Peach Salsa wax tarts as my parents were coming to visit me for a couple of days and after a major clean up and kick out I wanted my home to smell fresh and inviting cos I have a problem in my flat with damp and have 4 hamsters a mad mate and dog we share so I do get a bit paranoid about nasty whiffs and it would never do seeing as my parents are very houseproud! This cost me £1.20 from a local garden centre and I smelt it in its wrapper and thought it smelt super fruity, natural fresh but above all strong in its fragrance and this one had a lovely orangy, yellow colour to it to. My tart came in a see through plastic wrapper with a photograph of peaches and mangos on it and we are clearly told that it is indeed a Yankee Candle Product and that it is as I have already stated Mango Peach Salsa and then on the back of it we are shown via diagrams do's and don't and contact details for Yankee Candles are given. The wrapper peels off with ease and all we are left to do is to pop either all of it or some of it into an oil burner and to light a tealight under it to get it to melt and thus release the aroma of it and Yankee say this should be a room fragrancer for about 8 hours however this does come in a variety of sized candles too if you'd prefer those but I like being able to chop and change the aromas in my home and think that these offer superb value and I even have a couple of wax tart chopped up in my underwear drawers! The Tart: Well this is the usual sized Yankee candle tart with fluted edges and if you need to split it you can do that easily by hand and when popped over a flame it simply melts from a solid wax to a liquid that becomes hot and gives off the aroma. I found the fragrance of this one to be wonderful and strong and to start almost straight away and I loved the juiciness and fruitiness of this one loads. Although strong it wasn't overpowering, sickly or too sweet and mainly to me smelt of mangos in a very natural way with just a hint of the peach weaving its way through my home as anm afterthought. I burnt this in my dining room on and off for about 8ish hours and got continious fragrance for that time and it actually fragranced all of my rather large flat and even my mother liked this one who is known for being finicky about unnatural aromas! This really is a wonderfully uplifting tart! This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
                  Disadvantages
                  A nice way to test Yankee fragrances
                  My review is about the Mango Peach Salsa Sampler Candle. I am a big fan of any candle type products especially the Yankee range, I have worked my way through quite a lot of the different fragrances but an always on the look out for new ones to try, I usually end up buying the wax tarts as they make excellent room fresheners and are also reasonably cheap, so if you do not like a new fragrance you have not wasted a lot of money. However from time to time I do buy the actual candles, especially the Yankee Sampler candles, again these are a bit different to the wax tarts, but they still make you house smell lovely and fresh and are not overly expensive, so again you do not waste a lot of money if you do not like a particular fragrance that you have bought to try for the first time. One of the Yankee Samplers I recently purchased was the Mango Peach Salsa Sampler Candle, I opted for the candle version of this as I love the smell of mango so I was pretty sure that I was going to like this fragrance ad I fancied something a bit different to the regular wax tarts that I usually buy. The Mango peach Salsa Sampler Yankee candle comes tightly wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper, similar to that of the wax tart this allows you to see the colour of the candle inside. On the front of the Yankee Sampler candle is a small square label, again similar to that of the wax tarts, in the case of the Mango Peach Salsa candle the label is mainly an orange colour, it has the words Yankee Candle written at the top in black writing and the fragrance of the candle written within a white rectangle at the bottom. The rest of the label is take up with a picture which reflects the fragrance of the candle which in this case is a picture of mangos and peaches. There is no other information of the packaging other than a small label on the bottom which gives various warning in symbol form which in my opinion is not always very clear. The Yankee Mango Peach Salsa Sampler Candle is a bright orange colour, it measure just over an inch high and is a few centimetres wide, the candle is a little thinner towards the bottom and gets wider further up, the candle has a small white wick in the centre of it which is stuck down to the wax when you purchase the candle. When I first purchased this candle I imagined it have a very fruity fragrance which would be fresh and perfect for the warmer summer months, as I have said I love the smell of mango so I was hoping that this candle was not going to have an artificial fruity smell to it. The sampler candles do not come with anything to burn them in so you do need to put the candle in a holder before burning it, I have several candle holders around the house of different sizes so I selected one which was the right size for the small sampler candle, lit the wick and left the candle to burn. The candle hadn't been alight for that long before I started to smell the fragrance around the room. As the fragrance began it spread I could definitely detect the fragrance of both peaches and mangos, the candle really did have a fruity smell to it, this also had a hint of sweetness mixed in too, this didn't make it smell artificial though it blended in nicely and did not overpower the actual fragrance of mango and peaches, these in my opinion were certainly the most dominant fragrances. I have since read about this candle online and the fragrance is described as having hints of ginger flower and pink pepper, personally I could not detect much ginger, there was a slightly spiciness about the fragrance of the candle which I can only assume was the ginger, but I have to admit I really do not know what pink pepper smells like so cannot comment on whether this fragrance was present or not. Although there was a very slight hint of ginger I still think that the mango and peach fragrance was the most dominant and the ones which I could smell the most. In my opinion this particular Yankee sampler candle is ideal for the summer months, the fruity fragrances combined together gives a lovely clean fresh fragrance one which in my opinion is perfect for a warm summers day. I purchased my Yankee Mango Peach Salsa sampler from a local gift shop which sells different Yankee products and the small candle cost be just £1.50, this in my opinion is excellent value for money, they can also be purchased from various other shops which sell Yankee products as well as online, however the price may vary a little depending on where you purchase it from. The sampler candles are a little more expensive as they are larger than the wax tarts and I do think that you get slightly more burn time from a sampler candle compared to the wax tarts. In my opinion I would certainly say that the Yankee Sampler candles are good value for money, the Mango Peach Salsa one so far has proved to be very long lasting and has done an excellent job of keeping its fragrance despite being used on several occasions. I would certainly recommend the Yankee Mango Peach Salsa Sampler Candle, it has a lovely fruity fragrance combined with a slightly sweet yet spicy tone, the candle has quite a strong fragrance yet not over powering and does an excellent job at keeping your room smelling fresh. You get a very long burn time with these candles, I have used mine for several hours and the fragrance still has not faded. In my opinion the sampler candles are another excellent way to test out new fragrances without spending out a lot of money and they are perfect if you want something a bit different to the Yankee wax tarts. Personally I feel that the Mango Peach Salsa is more of a summery fragrance however there is no reason why you cannot use this all year round. This is yet another of the Yankee products I would recommend and one I will certainly be buying again in the future.
                    A fruity wax tart that leaves a fabulous aroma!
                    I had never even heard of Yankee candles until I started reading people's reviews of them on Dooyoo. Like most people I love for my home to smell nice and also have a love of scented candles but I am often left disappointed by the lack of fragrance that actually comes from most of them. The first Yankee candle wax tart that I treated myself to was Christmas Eve which was just wonderful. But recently with the weather taking a turn towards Spring I thought I would look for a more fruity fragrance. So at the weekend whilst shopping in a small town quite local to where I live I was surprised to find an independent card shop selling a small range of Yankee candles. Before I had even looked at what fragrances they stocked I had decided that I was going to purchase one. There were a few different fragrances that I had previously heard of and wanted to try but the one that jumped out the most was the Mango Peach Salsa, as soon as I picked it up I could smell the wonderful fruity fragrance through the wrapper and just had to buy it. Yankee candles can be purchased in a variety of different sizes starting with the little wax tarts and going right up to large jars. The current prices on www.yankee.co.uk are as follows: - Wax tart - £1.20 - Sampler - £1.75 - Tea light (pack of 12) - £6.25 - Small Jar - £7.99 - Medium Jar - £15.99 - Large Jar - £18.99 - Small Tumbler - £9.45 - Medium Tumbler - £14.75 - Large Tumbler - £18.25 - Perfect Pillar- £14.99 The candle can also be purchased from various other websites including eBay and amazon. You can also find them in many department stores, Clintons cards and some independent stores. The Mango Peach Salsa wax tarts comes packaged in the same way as all the wax tarts do, in a clear plastic wrapper which is wrapped tightly around the fluted disc of wax. There is a sticker both on the front and the back of the wrapper, the front sticker has a picture of Mangoes and Peaches on to reflect the fragrance. On the back sticker there are instructions of how to use the tart in pictures and it states that the wax tart has a 8 hour burn time and weighs 22g. The wax tart is easy to remove from the packaging by using a pair of scissors to snip the plastic allowing the tart to be taken out. The tart is a light orangey/yellow colour and is approx half an in deep and two inches across. I could actually smell the fruit fragrance of this tart through the wrapper before I had begun to remove it. The fragrance is just wonderfully fresh and fruity with a slight sweetness. As the wax tarts are just discs of wax and do not have a wick like a candle then you need to use a tart burner to melt them to allow the fragrance to be released. You can purchase the tart burners from the above website or from most Yankee stockists. The Mango and Peach Salsa tart as I stated before it quite a strong fragrance so almost as soon as the tart begins to melt you can smell the mixture of the mango and peach fragrance starting to waft through the room. Even my husband who is not normally very struck on fragranced candles or room fragrances commented on how nice the tart smelt. Yankee wax tarts are made with natural fruit extracts so do smell quite natural and not overly artificial. I live in an apartment which has quite a large open plan living area and the fragrance from the tart quickly spreads throughout the whole room leaving it smelling wonderful. I started to burn this tart last night and this morning I could still lightly smell the fragrance. Although the tart states that the burning time is 8 hours I find that with the stronger fragrances such as this do last a while longer. Once your tea light goes out or you extinguish it the wax will start to solidify again, I generally burn one tart for around four nights for a few hours until I begin to notice the scent fading, so I find the tarts very good value as well as great smelling. Overall this is so far one of my favourite Yankee scents and one that I will certainly recommend and re-purchase. It's wonderful fresh, fruity fragrance is uplifting and makes my home smell fantastic.
                      Mango peach salsa candle
                      My new favourite flavour from the Yankee Candle company is mango peach salsa. I was firstly attracted to this smell because this is something I would eat in a nice Mexican restaurant with some corn chips, gorgeous, so I thought in a candle it would be nice too! I bought some tea lights just before Christmas and loved them and then I splurged in the January sales and bought one of the Yankee Candle jars in this flavour because I liked it so much. I say splurge because a 14.5 oz jar cost me £14.99 which I think is quite expensive for a candle. However, having said that these candles are really good quality and the jar is actually a really nice home decoration as well as being a candle.  The fragrance is described by Yankee Candle as containing, "Sweet and zesty juicy mangoes and peaches livened with citrus, ginger flowers and pink pepper." this candle has a lovely fruity smell to it but they you also get this lovely warm, peppery after smell which is something a bit different that just a regular fruity smell.  The jar that this candle comes in is made of a thick sturdy glass. The glass is see through as are all the Yankee Candle jars. I really like this aspect because each fragrance is then a different colour and you can use them to decorate your home with depending on your colour scheme. This candle is a nice yellow colour and to me is the exact shade of yellow as mango. I think it's quite clever that they have achieved pretty much the same lovely yellow colour. On the front of the jar is a label that has a lovely picture of some peaches and mangoes so you can tell exactly what this fragrance will be. One of the mangoes on the front is sliced in half and diced up like it would be in a salsa and it looks amazingly delicious!  The jar comes with a thick glass lid as well which had a seal around it so when you have it on the top of the candle it keeps the smell in. If you use the candle like this all the time and just have it as a pretty decoration then the fragrance really will last for years. I have a number of Yankee Candle jars in different flavours that I have had for years, stored with the lid on and the fragrance is just as strong as the day I bought it.  That's what I really like about these candles as well, that the fragrance is very strong and lasts for such a long time. I have taken the lid off of this one and just placed it in my room and coming back into the room later the fragrance really did fill the air with a lovely fruity fragrance.  The candle in the medium jar is said to last for between 45-90 hours which I think is really good value for this candle. When you burn it it does give off an even stronger smell and then after you blow out the flame the wax just melts back into the jar which I think is the reason why it lasts so long.  A lovely warm fruity candle!
                        Disadvantages
                        Worth every penny
                        I've really missed writing my Yankee Candle reviews recently. I've just been so busy but I haven't stopped using and experimenting with Yankee Candles and now have a whole wealth of variations to review! The first is this Mango Peach Salsa Yankee tart. I never get tired of having a Yankee Candle burning in my home, although I have found some scents to be less pleasing I've always enjoyed trying new ones and can often go a little crazy buying new variations online! I always buy my tarts from ebay as that is where they seem to be the best price. In particular I buy a mix and match set of 10 tarts for £8.95 including postage so each tart works out at 89p approximately. This is great especially because the high street retailers sell the tarts for anything between £1 and £1.40 so it's a great saving when you buy as many as I do. When I recieved this particular tart I was pleasantly suprised with it's scent, even through the wrapping. Sometimes you can get the wrong impression of a tart while it's still wrapped so I do try not to base my opinion on it's scent until much later but I did note that the scent was lovely and sweet at this stage. The tart itself is a creamy golden colour, very tropical and it matches the label on the front showing mango's and peaches. The overall impression for it's packaging is very good, it's appealing and unlike some of the labels it's not boring and makes you excited to try it out. As with always I recommend that you remove the plastic wrapper over the bin or sink with scissors. This is because when you remove the plastic the tart will always shed flakes of wax which are a real pain to remove from tables and work surfaces, so it's easier to avoid this. After removing the packaging the tarts go in to the burner and after approximately 30 minutes your tart should be fully melted. With this particular variation I had been able to smell it within about ten minutes of burning time. It had begun to release a very sweet and tropical scent very early on and as it continued to burn the depth of the scent intensified and it became very rich. As the tart continued to burn it filled the kitchen very evenly and continued to spread through the house. I like the fact that some of the Yankee tarts are powerful enough to scent my entire house and after an hour of so I could even smell this from upstairs in my home, which for 89p is great value for money. The strength wasn't as powerful but still traceable though. Tropical is the best word to describe this scent. Just as the colour and label imply this tart is very sweet and tropical, and very strong too! It releases high levels of scent which to be honest I don't know if I could sit in permanently but because I was pottering around the scent didn't become too much for me. If you sat in the same room as the tart though for long I'm sure it would get in your throat a little and make it less appealing. However for general use it smelt lovely and although tropical it's scent wasn't 'summery' so I didn't feel like I couldn't use it in the winter. In fact quite the opposite, it made a nice change to the dreary weather outside! Yankee Candle say their tarts have approximately 8 hours of scent time. However I find this to be very approximate as some have more and some have less. This particular tart burnt with the same high ntensity for 16 hours and is still scenting the kitchen moderately, although not as well now on it's fifth tea light (each tea light has about 4 hours of life). I did also enjoy the scent and I always rate tarts highly if they can scent the house not just one room so there I am giving it four stars out of five. I can't give it any more though because although the scent was nice there were no notable traces of peach or mango in it for me so it was a little decieving. If it was re-named to somehting ofthe tropical variety then it would deffinately get the extra star from me. My advice if your a Yankee lover is to try this out, it's quite simple very pleasant to be around (but not for long periods if your sitting in it!)
                        Advantages
                        Disadvantages
                        A strong, fruity, sugary fragrance that might not be to everyone's taste.
                        I am now a regular customer of Yankee candles and have been buying many different fragrances in their range of candles over the past few months. They have been very helpful in creating a pleasant smelling home which is essential for me as I have three indoor dogs. I also hate any cooking smells so I like to get rid of them but after having used the Yankee range for a while I've also realised that these candles can help create different kinds of atmosphere for each room of the house. They do this not only by releasing their amazing scent but also by their colours and the way they gently burn and glow. I bought this particular candle, called the 'Mango Peach Salsa' because I thought a fruity fragrance would be a strong but pleasant fragrance to have in my living room. The candle is a orange-yellow colour and is actually a little bit gaudy - like Bart Simpson yellow. It's bright and cheery though but is much more suited to summertime or bright modern decor. I bought the sampler size candle as I already have my own candle holders which accommodate this size of candle (you can buy these holders from Yankee too). The size of these 'sampler' or 'votive' candles is approximately 5 centimetres tall. They are slightly more narrow at their base having a 3 ½ centimetre diameter which widens to 4 ½ near the top. They have a centre wick which has a metal base at the bottom of the candle. They are called sampler candles because Yankee make much larger versions of the same fragranced candles. You can also get tiny tartlet size candles which are like tealights. I personally think the sampler candles are the perfect size and they burn for up to fifteen hours which is plenty for me. The candles come individually wrapped in clear plastic and have a picture on the front which represents their fragrance. This one shows a hollowed out mango skin filled with fruit pieces and a lot of peaches and ripe mangoes around it. It looks like something you would eat whilst on honeymoon in some tropical isle and looks delicious and fresh. Yankee actually describe the fragrance as being like "mangoes and peaches livened with citrus, ginger flowers and pink pepper". When I smell the candle before lighting it the wax smells peachy and fruity and reminds me of fruit juice cocktails. It's a mouth watering smell. The fragrance is slightly different when the candle burns. Then it becomes warmer and more sugary. It smells like someone is heating up fruit in a pan, trying making a fruit pie or something but burning the fruit in the bottom of the pan! I quite liked the smell at first but after a while it becomes sickly and stomache churning. The fragrance is quite quick to waft up into the air and envelop the atmosphere of your room. I have used this in the living room but think it might be more appropriate to use in a kitchen. It is definitely effective in smothering those nasty dog and cooking smells such as sunflower oil, veggie steam and onions but I am not comfortable having to smell the sticky warm peach all of the time so have actually reduced how long I burn this one for. Although I don't hate it and it has been praised by other family members I don't think I will be choosing this fragrance again in the future as I just don't enjoy the smell of burning fruit. You can buy this online or in selected homeware stores. It cost me £1.45. www.yankee.co.uk
                          A really sweet smell but i like it
                          ==The Purchase== In the grand scheme of things I am relatively new to the world of Yankee Candles, I came across then by accident and have loved them since. In August when myself and my family were on holiday I had bought a couple of new tarts and as I have recently starting burning a new one I thought I would tell you about it. ==The Invention== Yankee Candles were created in 1969 when Mike Kittredge melted down some crayons trying to make his mother a gift, after someone saw what he had done they bought it off him and he then bought my wax to make some more and Yankee Candles were born. ==The Range== There are a great range of different Yankee Candles and a great difference in price and burning time to boot, Wax Tartlets - £1.20 - 8 hours burning time Tea Lights - £6.45 for 12 - 4-6 hours burning time Sampler - £1.75 - 15 hours burning time Small Jars - £7.99 - 25-40 hours burning time Medium Jars - £15.99 - 65-90 hours burning time Large Jars - £18.99 - 110-150 hours burning time Small Tumbler - £9.45 - 35-45 hours burning time Medium Tumbler - £14.75 - 45-50 hours burning time Large Tumbler - £18.25 - 70-90 hours burning time There are over 100 different fragrance options and I like the fact that they bring out new fragrances for the different occasions through the year and that no matter what your budget you can enjoy the range. ==The Package== One of my latest purchases was the Mango Peach Salsa which cost me £1.10 for a small tartlet, the colour of the tart is a deep yellowy orange and it sort of jumped off the shelf at me. On the front of the tart is a small rectangular sticker which has the name of the company at the top and the name of the fragrance at the bottom, in the middle there is a picture showing chopped fruit in a bowl and it is surrounded by whole fruits. The label is coloured in the same hues as the tart itself and so looks really attractive and it also has a small bronze border around the picture which has a metallic shine to it and really shimmers when it catches the light. The tart is fluted around the edges just like a jam tarts pastry casing would be and it comes wrapped in a soft plastic so you need to try not to drop the product as it doesn't have anything to protect it. On the rear there is another small label in white this time, this label shows some warnings in little pictures which is probably because the same amount of information in words simply wouldn't fit. The information on the back is (as far as I can tell) Don't melt in a frying pan - who is really that stupid? The tart is 22g and will burn for 8 hours - I believe some of these burn for more than 8 hours and some lose their smell before the 8 hours is up. Do not use with electric Do not leave unattended Do not use near curtains Keep 10cm between candles Keep away from children There is one more picture but I really have no idea what it is trying to tell you. I like the way the information is portrayed and I think that more people will pay attention to the pictures than if there was written warnings on the back. ==My Thoughts== My darling daughter managed to knock this tart onto our radiator whilst it was on so I can tell you that the heat from a radiator allows the smell to fill the room although I wouldn't advise this since it is wrapped in plastic. The tartlet was easy to open as where the plastic is joined it pulls away quite easily, I personally use a Yankee burner for these but a normal oil burner would work just as well and you simply place the tart in the top and then place a lit tealight underneath. This tart smells very sweet and I would say it may be too sweet for some people's tastes but I love it, it smells very fruity and reminds me of Robinsons orange and mango juice. We tend to burn the tarts for around 2 hours a night but don't put them on every night, I have numerous animals and 2 children so these are great for covering up the many smells that fill my house at times. I like that I can still smell the tart when I come down the stairs the morning after burning so the smell does last really well. I totally intend to work my way through all the tarts that my local shop has to offer, I like the tarts as they are cheap and it allows me to try all the different types which I couldn't afford to do if I had to buy the bigger candles. I would recommend this tart to people who like sweet smells and I would recommend the Yankee range as a whole, there is a fragrance available for all.
                            for when you can't afford a holiday - this captures the memory for you
                            Yankee Candle is an American company who specialise in various fragranced goodies for the home. ~Mango Peach Salsa~ The Mango Peach Salsa (shortened now to MPS) falls under the fruit scent category from Yankee. The scent can be experienced in various sized candle jars, votives and tealights. MPS claims to offer a "sweet and zesty" scent which is owed to a strong blend of mangoes and peach. The scent also offers undertones of pink pepper, ginger flowers and citrus. This review discusses the MPS scent in wax tart form. If you aren't familiar with the Yankee Candle range, a wax tart is a small piece of wax which is infused with at least 8 hours of the specified scent. It should be placed into an oil burner with a tealight underneath and as it melts, the scent will be released into the air. Once the tealight has been blown out, the melted wax will turn solid and can be used again. Wax tarts can be used alone or with other scents to create individual scents. ~Price~ The MPS wax tart is an all year round scent so is widely available. Stores such as Clintons and House of Fraser often stock the tarts for around £1.10. Alternatively, try Amazon and sites such as www.yankeecandle.co.uk. ~My Thoughts~ I panicked that my stock of Yankee tarts was rapidly decreasing recently and had a snoop around ebay to see what I could find. One seller was offering various little lots of tarts on auction and whilst I did bid on quite a few, I only won one lot! I managed to purchase 3 x Mango Peach Salsa tarts for 99p and 99p postage so a bargain really! The scent named appealed to me as I love fruity scents and this sounded very exotic. I have wax tarts for various occasions but my main aim is to fill my home with a natural, welcoming aroma. This little, individually sealed tart, is a delightful light orange colour which signifies summery freshness. Before unwrapping, I can detect quite a strong, fruity aroma which is very mouthwatering. I unwrapped it and took great pleasure in sniffing this natural smelling tart and popped it into my burner. I tend to burn my tarts for a few hours at a time and on this occasion, I popped the full tart into the burner. I burned one of my tarts over a few days and have came to the conclusion, MPS is the perfect chilled out, day time scent. ~Exotic Freshness~ The tart melts quickly into a bold, orange pool of wax and doesn't waste any time when it comes to making its scent known. I burned my tarts in a little alcove in the corner of my living room and allow the scent to travel around and if it feels the urge to, seep into my hallway and kitchen. From the moment this tart began to melt, a full bodied and very smooth aroma started to come alive and quickly seeped around my living room. MPS offers a very welcoming aroma and cancels out any lingering smells within my home. It is without a doubt, a strong sweet aroma but the exotic edge evens the sweetness out a little and makes for a delicious, rich scent. I personally feel it offers a resemblence to a full flavoured exotic juice from the likes of Rubicon or Tropicana but of course, more concentrated. It is all very natural and there isn't a hint of chemical present thanks to the essential oils used to create the scent. The uplifting nature of MPS allows me to capture a few different scents used. The mango and peach are blended together very well although the peach is slightly more noticeable and offers itself as the main sweetness within the scent. There is a slight orange undertone which adds to the exotic explosion and if I get close to the burner, I can pick up hints of spiciness but this isn't all that strong and in no way detracts from the fruity sweetness of the tart. The strength of MPS allowed the scent to intoxicate my living room but only travelled a little further and was much more diluted in my hall way. I found this scent to be ideal for when I had finished cleaning the house and wanted to chill out during the day when my son was out with his Gran. I found that burning this tart for a few hours at a time, allowed me to gain around 9 or so hours scent overall. ~Conclusion~ Mango Peach Salsa is a highly exotic, tempting scent which evokes summery, holiday memories for me. It has a decent concentration for this type of scent and allows my home to smell gorgeous. The tart is of a high quality and sampling in wax tart form allows me to try out various scents at a low cost. Really, there is nothing unappealing about this scent so it receives a full 5 star recommendation from me. Thanks for reading :)
                              A nice tart
                              It was from reading various reviews on dooyoo and ciao regarding yankee candle wax tarts that made me think that I would like to try some for my home as up until then I had never heard of a wax tart! I looked on ebay for a tart burner and found one at a very reasonable price and then set about buying some tarts to melt in it. I have tried various tarts now but the one I am reviewing today I received for my birthday and it is the mango peach salsa variety. The tart comes packaged in a tight plastic wrapper which fully encases the tart. On the front of the tart there is an orange sticker showing mangoes and peaches and of course we have the yankee candle name as well as the tarts name too. For me opening the tarts wrapper is usually best done with scissors as I once tried opening one with my teeth and got a bite of the candle too! When you open up the wrapper you are left with the orange coloured wax tart. For those of you who are not aware a wax tart has no wick or anything and is meant to be put into a tart burner where it will gradually be melted down into liquid wax giving off the aroma. Immediately after taking the tart out of the wrapper I can smell a somewhat sweet and fruity scent which is pleasant enough. I put it in to my tart burner and then place a lit tea light candle underneath which starts the melting process. As the wax tart begins to melt the aroma fills the room and this is what I just love about these tarts as I have a dog now and I am conscious there may be a "doggy" smell in the house! The aroma coming from the wax tart is indeed very fruity and will fill the room in which it is placed. I find with some of the tarts that the aroma can be quite strong and I need to leave the door open to let the it spread around a bit more but in this case the smell is pleasant and fruity and not too over bearing at all. We are told that you can get around eight hours of fragrance from each wax tart but in my experiences with all the tarts I have tried so far I have burned them for longer than this and can still get a decent amount of aroma from them. You can buy yankee candle wax tarts in many card shops such as Clintons as well as more independently run stores but you can also buy them online too. Prices range from around 95 pence to around £1.05. I do like this wax tart as I like the fruitiness of it. It is not overbearing yet it fills the area it is placed with a nice fragrance which lingers for a while after the tart has stopped burning until the wax has set again. Once the wax has set you will find that it is moulded to the shape of your burner but it is easily removed by just tapping the edges in my opinion. I then store them in a sandwich bag for subsequent uses as I like to change the fragrance I use regularly! Thank you for reading my review!
                                *Before I start, I'd just like to note, that I am reviewing the votive candle rather than the tart, but Dooyoo rejected my suggestion for the votive as they say this tart is pretty much the same thing which I guess is true* So, the latest Yankee Candle I have used is the Mango Peach Salsa variety. I chose to use this one because although I own quite a selection of the candles, many of them have deep, spicy scents and I thought this one sounded lighter and more appropriate for the summer. I bought the votive (or sampler) candle. These are small little candles that are a perfect way of sampling a Yankee Candle scent before you buy the full sized jar candles which can be fairly expensive. The mango peach salsa candle is a bright yellow colour, which again says summer to me. The candle is simply packaged in cellophane with a sticker on the front indicating its fragrance. I did notice when I removed the wrapper that some of the yellow colour had transferred onto the cellophane. When I removed the wrapper I was a little disappointed by the fragrance. It had a fruity scent to it, but it was very subtle and I couldn't really identify the scent of either mango or peach. I lit the candle and waited for the smell to filter around the room. Except it didn't. The first time I used it I burned it for over 3 hours, and the second time I burned it for over 5 hours, and I simply could not smell it at all. I thought perhaps I was too far away from it and if I got closer I'd start to smell it, so I moved it to the coffee table less than a foot away from me. Still nothing. Let me tell you, I was totally gutted. This was not what I would expect from a Yankee Candle at all, and I felt really let down. All I really got from this was a soft candlelight glow, and in fairness it did burn for around the full 15 hours, which isn't bad for the size of it. The reason I buy the candles is for the fragrance though, and if I just wanted candlelight I could have bought a bag of 25 tealights for £1 that would have given me the same effect! These votive candles cost £1.60. You can find them on the high street if you look hard enough - in the north east they are stocked by collectables - but if you want to buy online I'd recommend www.yankeedoodle.co.uk So to sum up, although it pains me to say it, this has to be the worst Yankee Candle that I have ever used. Although it did have a long burn time it seemed to have zero fragrance and I wouldn't recommend it at all.
