**Originally written for Ciao on Pancake Day 2012** Maple Pancakes is a USA exclusive scent from Yankee Candle. It is available in various sized candle jars, votive samplers and wax tarts. I am reviewing the Maple Pancakes Wax Tart which is a disc of scented wax. The tart is a golden brown colour and features a label illustrating a stack of pancakes drizzled with maple syrup. The tart should be placed in the bowl of a tart burner and when a tea light is placed underneath, it will melt and release the scent. Each tart is said to hold around 8 hours of scent can be re-used. Maple Pancakes is described as.. 'Like sunshine on a country morning, this pure, buttery sweet maple aroma warms the heart and soul' ~Price and Availability~ The tart can be purchased from eBay priced at £1.55. Alternatively, it is available from www.yankeescents4.com priced at £1.75. A sampler can be bought for £1.80 and the large jar is priced at £25.99. ~Celebrating Pancake Day!~ If you are reading this review on Ciao (will be posted on dooyoo at a later date) then you will be aware that today is Pancake Day. What better way to celebrate than by eating some yummy pancakes and reading a review of Maple Pancakes wax tart! Like the pancakes we will be having this evening, I didn't make this myself - I bought it from eBay and used it for the first time a few days ago. Today, I decided to melt this tart again and get the most scent I could from it. Once melted, this tart forms a pool of deep, golden brown liquid which looks like real maple syrup. Maple Pancakes has incredibly strength in solid form and once melted. It is powerful enough to circle around our flat, filling every room with a delactable sweetness. Maple Pancakes gives my home a welcoming, relaxed ambience and the overall scent promotes fond memories of me making pancakes with my Granny. I can never seem to get the batter right so this is the closest scent I have to 'real' pancakes and syrup - the shop bought pancakes just cannot compete! ~One Pancake Or Two?~ I would say Yankee have captured Maple Pancakes in their finest form. The initial scent reminds me of freshly made pancakes - pancakes which are just off the griddle and cooling on a wired rack. This is a very homely smell and on a completely different level from other baking type scents that Yankee offer including Vanilla Cupcake and Christmas Cookies. After 10 minutes or so, the scent is boosted by a deep, fufilling maple syrup aroma. I love it! The maple syrup is very realistic and extremely sweet. I love sweet aromas so this isn't an issue for me but if you aren't keen then don't buy this. The syrup is bursting with flavour - very sweet and sugary. The scent changes a little with a creamy, buttery blend being noticeable and it reminds me of fudge but without the addition of vanilla. The overall scent is very warm and cosy. The first time I melted the tart, I used two tealights as I was so enveloped in the delicious aroma. After the 2nd tealight went out, the scent lingered for an hour or so before whispering away. The solid tart still had plenty of life left in it and I have melted it for a few hours today and it is only just starting to fade. ~Conclusion~ Given that I have experienced over 10 hours of amazing, realistic scent, I have no complaints about this wax tart. It is incredibly rich, mouthwatering and makes my home smell divine. Maple Pancakes is perfect for burning any time but due to how warm and rich it is, I would keep it for cold evenings. Top marks all round. Thanks for reading.
