      Nice for a change

If you like very delicately scented candles or tea lights and enjoy the aroma of barely-there vanilla, then I suggest you opt for a pack from Wilko. A new branch has just opened up near to where I live and I find I like to pop in every now and again to just have a bit of a mooch about. It's a very large store, so that's my excuse for keep on going back, as I haven't covered all of it yet. I love candles and for only £1.69 for a pack of thirty vanilla-scented tea lights, I decided to try them to see what they were like. My husband isn't overly fond of scented candles (or unscented ones, come to that) but as I haven't been using them about the house lately, I decided I'd treat myself to some. These candles come in a sealed, transparent plastic pack and each candle is an 'average' size for a tea light. They are cream in colour, round in shape and they each come in a small silver and rather flexible, metallic little base. I like the fact that unlike the tea lights I also buy from Ikea, these candles doesn't actually drop out of its base and stay intact. Each tea light burns on average for around three to four hours. I find that they all vary quite a lot in how much burn time I actually get. They light well, first time and as the wick is extra long, it's always easy to light with a match or a lighter. They don't splutter and splat hot wax everywhere and they seem to burn down fairly regularly and evenly. Fragrance wise, I think they are barely noticeable as having any vanilla scent, to be honest. There is a very faint aroma of vanilla if you stand close to a whole display of them and sniff hard, but the smell certainly doesn't knock you sideways. I was perhaps a little bit disappointed with the lack of fragrance, if I am honest as I was hoping for something slightly more powerful, but as tea lights go, they are okay. I give them three out of five stars.

These are very good tealights and I will continue to buy them

WHAT ARE THEY? 30 tealights that are fragranced with vanilla. They are only available by shopping in the Wilkinson store. THE DESIGN These tealights are made of cream wax and they have all got longer wicks than the tealights that I usually buy from Sainsburys or Asda. They have all got silver foil cases and the vanilla fragrance is scented as soon as I open the bag to take out a tealight. WHAT I THINK I like these tealights very much because the vanilla fragrance is soft and very beautiful in my home. I use them with my wax tart burner and they make the fragrance of my wax tarts a little bit sweeter. I use them more in tealight holders and I like that because they have got a very strong flame comparing to the size of the candles so they give me a good light even though they are very small. I like the fragrance because it is sweet and I like that it is so light that it does not cover my whole room but is just in the air a little bit. The smell of vanilla is stronger than you think it's going to be and if I burn 3 or 4 at the same time and near to each other the smell is a surprise because it is a lot more rich than you would think with these tealight candles being so small. Each one lasts for about 2 hours and the fragrance lasts for the whole time that they are burning. ANYTHING ELSE A bag of 30 tealights costs £2 but they are on special price promotion a lot of times. 5 Dooyoo Stars.

        5 stars

My daughter bought me this bag of tea lights. I wasn't sure if I'd like them with them being scented but actually they are very nice. I use tea lights a lot around the house particularly in my oil burner and also to create atmosphere in the evenings. When my daughter bought me these I was disappointed to see that they were scented. Because I use these with my oil burner I didn't think scented ones would be okay as the smell of them would mingle with my oils so instead I just use these for other times; like creating atmosphere. They are really nice. I wasn't sure if I'd like vanilla but it's not actually that strong, it just gives a gentle scent which is sweet and not over powering so that it doesn't make a big impact. It just gives a really nice, sweet smell in the air the whole time it is alight. Once all the wax has melted the candle goes out which is good, that's why I like tea lights, they are very practical and neat as it's very rare that wax will drip out of it's little metal pot that it comes in. Occasionally it is difficult to light and will take two or three attempts but aside from this I can't really fault it. I was surprised that I liked them as I was dubious of it having a scent and now I'm glad I have them as the scent makes it a little different to ordinary tea lights.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        bargain tea lights

I always have candles lit around the flat, I normally use a yankee candle for scent but I like the light that candlight creates so I always have a few tea lights burning in pretty holders. I dont like spending a lot on tea lights however so Wilko's is my shop of choice to go to stock up. These normally cost £2 for 30 which works out at the bargain price of just over 6p per candle! They are easy to light and last around 2 hours and burn right down to the bottom, unlike some cheap tea lights that just get drowned in their own wax halfway through burning. The only downside to these is that the scent isnt too strong and doesnt really fill my home with the lovey smell of vanilla, but this doesnt bother me as I normally have a yankee candle burning somewhere that does the trick. Overall I would definitely recommend these for anyone who is after some tealights, they are cheap yet good quality and great value for money - I wouldnt get mine from anywhere else!

        Tea lights

Wilko vanilla tealights I was recently in Wilkinsons and given the price of the candles, I decided to stock up ready for the winter months. I like the smell of vanilla candles and since I go through a lot of tea lights, I thought I would try these. They come in a plastic sealed pack containing 30 tealights and all of the hazards are listed on the back. The tea lights are the usual size for this kind of product and as such are handy for tealight holders. They are cream in colour so no surprises there and unlikely to clash with many decors. When I break open the plastic there is a faint smell of vanilla but nothing over powering and certainly nothing suggesting that they will produce a really strong vanilla scent when burning. The information on the packaging tells me that each tea light will burn for 3.5 hours, which I think is a long time for a tea light as mine don't usually last for this long. The tea lights cost £2 for 30 but I got them for the reduced price of £1.75 for 30 of them, so even if they aren't the best, I wont have wasted a lot of money. They are available in Wilkonson stores and also online at www.wilkinsonplus.com. VERDICT... These are certainly good value. They light easily and unlike some cheaper tea lights I have had, the flame doesn't splutter out but rather they have all burnt to the very end. They don't have the strongest vanilla scent I have ever smelled, but I tend to burn a few at a time, and so I do get a nice vanilla smell in the house. I have also found that they don't seem to last as long as stated on the packaging but I wasn't expecting that long a burning time and 2 hours or so is fine by me. I would recommend these to anyone wanting tea lights. Thanks for reading Daniela xx

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Cheap candles

I'm a massive lover of candles, especially those which are vanilla scented. However, I hate paying a lot for candles so Wilkinson is always my first choice for stocking up. The product in question for this review is Wilko Vanilla Scented Tealights. As this is a Wilko product, you will only be able to find it in store or online. For only £1.50 (or £1.75 if they're full price) you can buy 30 vanilla scented tealight candles. The candles come in a clear plastic bag, with a grey swirly printed label on the front. On the printed label is the Wilko logo, the name of the product along with how many candles you get and it also states how long the candles burn for, which is 3.5 hours. The packaging is extremely plain but seeing as you will take the candles out of the bag anyway, I don't think that this matters too much. The candles themselves are housed in a round metal casing. The casing holds the wax safely and strongly, without the wax being able to move inside. The wax is white in colour, due to the candle being vanilla scented and has a small white wick in the middle. These candles are very much like any other tealight candle that you can find from other shops. Although the packaging states that each candle will burn for roughly 3.5 hours, I haven't found this to be true. At most, you will get about 2.5 hours out of each candle. If you're like me and have quite a few candles burning at any one time, you will be able to go through a bag of 30 tealights quite quickly. When burning, the candles do smell very nice although not too strongly. There could be more of the vanilla scent but then what can you really expect for £1.50. You can smell the vanilla while the candle is burning although not very much. These candles are good value for money and although they don't burn for too long or smell very strongly, they would be a nice addition to bigger candles with the same scent.
