“ Brand: Wilkinsons / Type: Wallpaper „
Before moving house I had this wallpaper applied to the chimney breast in my living room. I will admit that I am a decorating fanatic and I am forever changing the colour schemes in my home but this lasted a good nine months or so and then we moved. Before this wallpaper I had a silver and black flowered paper on the chimney breast which got damaged when my old gas fire was removed, so I needed to redecorate. I looked in Wilko's in my town center and spotted this and quite liked it so I decided purple was the way to go. I have also used this paper in the lime and teal in this house (albeit very briefly) and my mum has the sliver, black and white version in her kitchen. My local Wilkinson store has a good range of decorating equipment which includes paints, glosses, wallpaper, and anything else involved with decorating, so I always like to have a browse at what they have had in so I can satisfy my decorating obsession! When I bought this wallpaper I did actually need to redecorate but I didn't have any certain colour in mind and was looking forward to a change. I knew I wanted a change of colour so I looked at the brighter wallpaper rather than the neutrals and in the end chose the Plum Starburst wallpaper. There was a roll already open so I pulled it out to have a look and was happy with the pattern and the mix of colours in the paper. The main colour of the paper is a deep purple, and on it is contrasting colours of a pinky/purple, dark purple, white and gold. The paper is covered in a lovely pattern which consists of a dandelion like pattern (when they are fluffy and ready to blow!) these all start with the darker purple stem and leafs and the flower (weed!!!) heads are in the contrasting colours mentioned above. As I was papering just the chimney breast I only needed to purchase two rolls and these cost me £8.47 each, I applied them to the wall using Solvite wallpaper paste and it went up nice and easily. I find wallpapering quite a simple task anyway, but this caused no difficulties at all. From each roll I got 4 strips which went floor to ceiling with a little left over. When up on the wall this wallpaper looks really classy and nice, I had cream walls so this really stood out very well. I bought ornaments and cushion covers in the colours from the wallpaper and it really made my living room look really classy. This wallpaper is also available in the following colours ~ Lime/Teal - The main colour of this is cream with the contrasting colours on top, this is very neutral and I found it too light and too plain, I like a bit more colour! Grey/Black - I wouldn't really say this is a flat grey but more of a silver as it has a sheen. Red/Gold - Not used this one but the back colour is red with contrasting black, gold and white. With having four children, one of them at sometime or another will end up putting their dirty, sticky hands on my wallpaper but I found that this paper wipes over well and wiping it never ruined it. I have just been on www.wilkinsonplus.com to check the price and it is currently in an offer which will give an additional 20% off the price.
