“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Fabric Softener / Category: Laundry „
I have used Bold washing gel for as long as I can remember and whilst it contains a built in fabric conditioner I also like to add my own to create more fragrance and to further soften my laundry. I've been purchasing Tesco Ambience Pink Diamond for many months and tend to alternate with Lenor dependent upon price. However, during a shop several months ago our nearest Tesco store had run out of the Pink Diamond, so the only choice available to me was their Black Pearl, which is from the same Tesco Ambience range, so I decided to give it a try. I cannot admit that I find the packaging at all appealing and to match its fragrance name, the bottle is totally black. I find it totally uninspiring as it does not give me the impression of clean and fresh. We are advised that the sturdy plastic bottle contains 1.47 litres of concentrated conditioner, which is sufficient for 42 washes and through my experience of using the Pink Diamond I would agree with this statement. The bottle cap will enable 36 ml of product to be poured inside, which is sufficient for one normal size load. However, to save time I no longer use bottle caps to measure and tend to guess the amount and I seem to be pretty accurate having carried out the laundry chores for so long. When I initially made my purchase I removed the cap in store to witness its aroma, which I would describe as a rather strong floral. However, this did not deter me, particularly as when combined with water the scent normally weakens offering a more delicate aroma. However, this is not the case with Black Pearl, as the fragrance seems to alter during the laundry process and I cannot admit to the aroma being that desirable. Whilst the scent isn't what I would describe as offensive, I did not find it resembling the aroma that I was initially able to witness and I found it really disappointing when making a comparison with Pink Diamond. In terms of providing softness to my laundry and reducing static, the product receives top marks, but due to the reasons discussed above I will not repurchase and am thankful that I finished using the bottle last week. I am more than satisfied with Pink Diamond, particularly as its aroma is absolutely stunning, but unfortunately, the scent release capabilities of the Ambience range means that the aroma is long lasting and this is a real negative as far as Black Pearl is concerned. The Ambience range Tesco own brand is currently discounted and at the time of writing you can purchase the 750 ml bottle for £1 or two of the 1.47 ml bottles for £3. However, after 20 August 2012 the larger bottles will return to their normal price of £2.39 each. I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading
Recently I've been trying the Tesco Ambiance Fabric Conditioner range. The one Im using at the moment is the Tesco Ambiance Black Pearl. The name Black Pearl gives no indication of the fragrance of the softener so a good sniff is required in store before you buy. The bottle is black with a silver/grey lid. It has a black plastic wrap around label. The front of the label has 2 big white flowers on it. The label has Tesco Ambiance Black Pearl written on it, it also informs the customer that they are getting 21 washes for their money and the softener has " scent release". The back if the label is very similar, it tells us that by using the product we will be " immersing our senses with the Ambiance collection and discovering a world of gorgeous fragrances and luxurious softness" A tall order for a fabric softener! The instructions are on the side of the bottle along with some of the ingredients and a few standard warnings. Keep away from children Don't get the liquid in your eyes Wash your hands if the softener comes into contact with them Don't pour softener directly onto clothes. The instructions advise that 1 full capful (lid) is sufficient for 1 regular wash. The softener is white and quite runny. It has a faint floral smell and what I thought was a perfume type fragrance, however when I took my laundry from the machine I thought it was definitely less floral and more like a nice aftershave. The smell aside though, my washing did smell nice and fresh. It was very soft, especially the towels. I don't have a tumble drier so I have to rely on radiators and a clothes horse. While the washing the drying it really smelt like a nice after shave although it was very subtle. Once the washing was dry the smell had all but gone. I was disappointed. The laundry still felt soft but there was no fragrance. My skin does tend to be on the sensitive side but I had no problems with this one. I'm not sure I would buy this one again, it made my laundry feel very soft but I do like it to smell nice when its dry, particularly towels and bed linen. A 750ml bottle of this will cost you £1.53, however its on offer at the moment, 2 for £2.50. According to Tesco website this offer runs until 2012.
