I don't but many scented candles but when I go on holiday I usually buy at least one or two or three ... . Last year was no exception and I bought the St Eval Sea Salt candle while we were holidaying in Cornwall.
St Eval are a Cornish company who make a range of hand made candles . I bought the Sea Salt candle in a tin which is one of their best sellers.
I like candles in tins as they are good to go, you don't need a holder and they are easy to transport.
I really like the simplicity of this tin , which is covered in what looks like brown paper with just the name and description printed on the label.
The tin is 80cm in diameter and height and weighs 0.3g. The candle will burn for around 45 hours.
They recommend burning for 3 to 4 hours , to place on a flat surface and never leave unattended. I usually trim the wick as that seems to stop any black flame or smokiness.
As the name suggests this candle smells of the ocean , they say it contains citrus scents, but I don't pick that up at all. It does smell slightly woody but really fresh , clean and sweet.
I think this is a beautiful fragrance and when I have the time , I burn this while I am having a bath making sure to light it while I run the bath and it absolutely fills the bathroom with an amazing sweet salty and fresh fragrance. It really does remind me of the beach and fresh clean seawater but with added fragrance.
I also burn this to fragrance my rooms downstairs and leave all the doors open and it scents the rooms and hallway easily.
I am nearly at the end of the candle and although I can't say exactly how long it has burnt for it is certainly long lasting. It has burnt evenly and has left no residue on the side of the tin, so no wax is wasted.
What is impressive is that the fragrance is still as fresh and strong as when I opened the tin , nearly 6 months ago.
You can really tell you are burning a scented candle , the scent appears immediately and then builds up becoming stronger, but not overpowering and remains after it is extinguished.
I paid around £9 for the candle and I think it was well worth the price, given how many times I have burnt this. I will definitely buy another in this fragrance, hopefully in Cornwall, but if not they are available on line from St Eval.
I would recommend this candle, it is a wonderful unique fragrance that does bring to mind the sea . It burns evenly, throws out a strong scent and fills the room. I have bought other candles that promise the scent of the ocean and have been disappointed , but not with this one.
5 stars from me
