When you do DIY projects you often find that you need extension leads in order for you to have your drill or light in the more awkward of places. I own the masterplug reel for times when I am decorating or even when I am trying to vacuum my car with the household vacuum! I have owned previous none branded items of this nature but they are not as reliable as this one.
==Price and availability==
The masterplug extension kit costs £15.56 and you can buy it from Amazon. I bought mine from a DIY shop local for £14.00. You can pay quite a lot of money for items such as this so I consider it quite chops value for money.
==Description and directions==
The masterplug cassette reel consists of a frame that is blue and black plastic. Inside there is an 8 meter flex lead attached to a heavy duty robust three pin plug. The device is helpful because it has space for four plugs. It has safety features such as thermal cut out and it has a reset button. The best thing is that inside it has 8 m of wiring attached to a plug that sticks out of the end. You can unravel the lead by winding a little handle on the outside. The external frame of the case is quite cheap feeling and it feels like thin plastic however the winding handle has not broken and it feels sturdy compared to the rest of it. As you turn the handle you can reel back in the lead which makes for a very tidy, neat looking device. There is also a little indent where your fingers can sit so you can hold the device whilst you wind out the handle.
When you use the device you need to make sure the lead is wound out fully as it can overheat in the case. The lead is thick and good quality and I am pleased with the length of the cable. The device is useful for so many reasons; I needed a light into the attic so I used the device to see as there are no plug sockets up there. I have also used the lead with a corded drill whilst trying to put a coat hanger up in the utility cupboard. I find the device easy to wind up and I tend to just pull on the plug to wind it out quickly with ease. I have used the lead outside with the vacuum so that I can use a good quality household vacuum on my car. I Find the device useful and necessary, the externals are quite flimsy but I consider the lead really good quality and seems like it will be long lasting. I have yet to find an occasion where I need 4 electrical items working simultaneous yet I feel confident that it will be able to perform this request, if I did ever find the need.
I would recommend this for the money, it is rather good value.
