Great bleach for all your household needs

This review is for Domestos Extended Germ Kill Bleach.

The cost of this bleach is normally around £1.50 for a 750ml bottle, it is however regularly in offer for £1 in lots of hight street stores. The bottle is blue with a red pouring spout and clear lid. The lid is child proof, you have to squeeze the two sides together and twist to open. Even I struggle on occasions.

The bottle tells me that this original bleach kills all known germs dead and nothing protects as long.

I find the pouring spout very good for getting underneath toilet rims as it is quite thin and long. There is no particular odour to the original bleach just your regular bleach smell, which I actually love as I think it smells clean and sterile. I use this bleach for absolutely everything from cleaning the toilets and sinks to mopping the floors and it gives me the confidence I need that my home is clean and germ free.

Great multi purpose product and a brand that I trust.

      Disadvantages

      Well recommended

I have to admit to having a bleach obsession. I used to laugh at my mum, because she would bleach everything and I would only have to walk into a room and sniff and she'd laugh knowing I was making a point about the smell of bleach in the air.

Domestos is a brand of bleach, and I would go out on a limb and say it is the most popular brand of bleach out there, and it certainly is within this family. I have tested other brands, including supermarket own brands but none seem to do the job as thoroughly as Domestos.

Whilst Domestos do sell different varieties I prefer the original one as it is un-fragranced and entitled "Extended Germ Kill". The bottle itself is blue, and I buy the 750ml bottle as it fits in the gap down the side of the toilet (that's the bathroom one - I have one downstairs in the kitchen cupboard. The bottle is very clear to read with no confusing graphics obscuring the essential information. The brand Domestos" is written across the middle within a logo and underneath it states " Extended Germ-Kill Original Bleach" and "Nothing Protects as Long" Which I wholeheartedly agree with. I like the fact that the bottle packaging is very clear and precise with no superfluous information meaning you have to read oodles of marketing nonsense just to find out what the product actually is, let alone what it does. The back is equally as clear with the "directions for use" clear and concise, precautions, ingredients, and the warnings that it is indeed an irritant.

The Directions are simple. First of all the getting the lid off; the lid is a child resistant safety lid, so to open you need to push down on the cap and turn anti clockwise. To use on toilets, sinks etc simply direct the nozzle and squeeze directing the nozzle where you want the bleach. These places where obviously there are the most germs the product can be used undiluted. With the toilet I ensure I do down the toilet and round the rim and leave overnight. For the sinks in both kitchen and bathroom, though the latter part applies mainly to the kitchen sink; I squeeze the bleach down the plug hole, then put the plug in, squirt more bleach into the basin, and half fill with warm water. I generally leave this overnight. I have a stainless steel sink, so it just ensures that any germs have been killed. What I often do is put the washing up bowl in the basin also, as the bottom of the bowl usually can get a bit grim when things are poured down the sink which also then go under the bowl. I then half fill the washing up bowl with warm water add a little bleach and put in the dishcloth to soak overnight, By morning everything is clean, and germ free - ready to be rinsed out.

I have two dogs, as many of you will have seen from my other reviews, so from time to time rather than just use ordinary floor cleaner, I substitute this for bleach, just to ensure that any germs lurking are killed. I also Have rabbits and use a diluted bleach solution to wash the inside of their shed - again just making sure any germs are killed.

One thing my mum did teach me was bleach can also be good for anything is tea-stained. Courtesy of her upbringing we are all big tea-drinkers and so from time to time you notice that the tea-pot which is stainless steel, has a copper colouring to its inside. I also find that cups can also develop a copper tinge either round the bottom or eve up the cup so again I use a diluted bleach solution (bleach and water) and leave them to soak overnight. It's amazing how white and clean they come up. They then get rinsed out and washed in washing up liquid.

The precautions for use are as you would expect and involve not using on certain materials and fabrics, such as wool. I am always careful not to splash what I am wearing as otherwise the splash turns the material white. And always wash your hands after use - though to be honest you would do anyway just to get rid of the smell.

I can honestly say that if were stranded on a desert island, and could only have one cleaning product - it would be bleach- but it would have to be domestos.

Whilst this bottle is usually fairly cheap in Supermarkets, about £1.50 you can also find it for £1 in most pound shops and the supermarkets sometimes have it on offer too. For what it does, and for the piece of mind - I would say it is well worth every penny.

      Disadvantages

      Fantastic cleaner

I don't really use a lot of bleach as I think it is generally too harsh however I do really like using bleach when cleaning the toilet as I feel it is really the only thing to give a really hygienic clean and we all know what germs end up in the toilet. I also like to use bleach when giving my dogs cage a full clean although of course it needs to be diluted for this purpose and rinsed thoroughly to prevent the dogs digesting it by licking the cage floor.

I am not too fussy over which bleach I use but do always go for whichever branded one is the best price as this is one of a handful of products that I feel the supermarket version is not as good. Domestos is available in a 750ml bottle or a 2 litre bottle and you can buy it in original, citrus, lime, ocean and sunfresh although to me no matter which one you buy they just smell of bleach. The 750ml bottle generally costs £1.75 and a 2 litre bottle costs £3 but I have only ever seen that size in the original, I tend to stock up on this bleach when Asda have their cleaning events as it is generally 2 for £2.

The product comes in a hard plastic bottle with a screw top child safe lid on it which hides a spout underneath making it easy to direct the product where you need it to be. The bottles are coloured depending on what fragrance you buy and they have the name of the product and fragrance on the front, o the back you have a list of warnings and ingredients.

To use the bleach you should always wear gloves as it is harsh, I personally use the bleach neat in my toilet bowl and as I am cleaning with a toilet brush for this purpose don't wear the gloves. I simply squirt the bleach around the bowl making sure I get right under the rim and then after 10 minutes I give it a good scrub with the toilet brush before flushing away. When I use the bleach on the dog cage I dilute it in a bucket and then clean the cage thoroughly before rinsing it twice to be sure to remove all traces.

I find that the bleach leaves my toilet gleaming and best of all I know that it is hygienically clean rather than just looking clean, the dog cage is an area that I am always concerned that excess germs could harbour but we have never had any problems and feel good knowing that I have bleached it and keep it as hygienic as I possibly can. I would rate this 5 stars as it is a fantastic cleaner and on 2 for £2 I think it is a decent price of course you must never leave it in reach of children but that should go without saying.

      Brilliant bleach

The Mrs requested that I buy some Domestos bleach for cleaning. I usually buy her Tesco's own which is usually a lot cheaper but I took my instruction and made sure I bought the one she asked for. I can see that it is a very good bleach although think it's not that different to the others.

We use bleach regularly. We mainly use it for cleaning the bathrooms but also sometimes use it on the kitchen sink to make sure it is as clean as possible.

The bottle is tall and dark blue. It has a label across the middle which states about how to use it and how dangerous it is. It should never get on your skin as it can burn. It has a red lid which is a safety cap, you need to squeeze it and turn it at the same time. this is difficult for me to do at times so there is no way our children could do it, saying that, however, we do make sure we keep it way out of reach just in case as this is a very dangerous product.

Domestos helps to kill germs which makes it an ideal cleaner for toilets. We use this in one of two ways; by adding it to water and using it to clean or by directly applying it to a surface. When we use it with water it tends to be when cleaning surfaces like the sink, the flooring etc. We add one large squirt to a bowl full of water and it bubbles quite a bit and then using rubber gloves we use a mop or a sponge to clean the surface we require. It is really easy to get out, it is a thick bleach but this doesn't seem to make it hard to squeeze out of the bottle. The bottle is quite rigid but we've never had a problem getting it out, even just turning the bottle upside down will make it come out although a little squeeze always helps it. When applying this direct to the toilet we tend to squirt it around the rim and then leave it for about an hour and then flush it away. It helps to remove the limescale and really does leave the toilet sparkling.

The smell of this is quite strong, the more you use the stronger it gets and at times it can make your eyes water which is why it's important to dilute it usually. The smell of bleach does linger, after flushing the toilet we find it is still in the air of the house for about an hour or so which I don't mind as it makes the hose smell nice and clean but it's not great if it's really strong as it's not a particularly nice smell.

This is a great cleaning product which gives you peace of mind that your house is well cleaned. It does leave a good sparkle afterwards which lasts longer than other anti bacterial products.

I use Domestos Bleach to help keep my house clean. I don't enjoy cleaning but I do enjoy knowing that my house is as clean as it can be and I find that bleach is a product which makes me feel as though the house is as clean as possible because it is so strong.

I use Domestos because I find it is a better quality than other brands. I have tried some cheaper brands but found they didn't clean as well so now just stick to using Domestos.

Bleach is dangerous, it can burn and so it should always be used whilst wearing rubber gloves and should be kept well out of rich of children.

Domestos bleach comes in a variety of 'flavours'. I go for their original one which has quite a strong bleach smell with a subtle smell of freshness behind it but mainly it is the bleach you can smell.

I use this when cleaning the bathrooms and toilets to make sure that bacteria is killed. I also use it when cleaning the kitchen sink and other more hard cleaning jobs. I don't use it for just wiping down kitchen surfaces. I tend to use it diluted when using in the bathroom but use it pure in the kitchen sink.

The lid has a safety catch so you need to squeeze it whilst you twist. This can be a little difficult but usually I can manage it fine. It squirts out if you tip it up and squeeze the bottle a little. It is quite thick but comes out easily.

I always rinse it off after using to make sure there isn't any left so nobody will be burnt from it.

I find after using bleach the area looks much more sparkly and clean. The smell does linger so your house will smell nice and clean. I really rate this bleach.

      Domestos toilet cleaner.

      The Product
      = = = = = =
The product I am reviewing is by Domestos which is a Unilever product. Domestos are part of a well known cleaning range, in which all their products contain bleach to help clean and kill all germs. The cleaning power of Domestos is better than most other products due to its high availability of chlorine. The product helps to kill germs and keep them away after very flush of the toilet. Most germs usually comes back after your toilet is flushed by domestos with Extended Germ Kill helps to keep them away for longer after every flush. The product comes in a dark blue bottle and has a bright red lid which is a child safety cap so smaller children cannot get into the bottle easily. On the front of the bottle it states what the product is and has Domestos in large white letters across the front of the bottle. On the back of the bottle it has some information about the product and how to use it. It also gives you some warning information about the product as well. When buying a new product I always read this information.

      Price/Availability
      = = = = = = = =
I purchased this from my local Poundland store for . . . yes you guessed it £1.00. You can also buy this from most supermarkets such as Sainsbury's, Asda and Tesco and it can also be purchased from some small local shops, how-ever prices may vary. The product is available in 750ml bottles and comes in Original (blue), Pink Power, Aqua Blast, Sun fresh, Citrus Fresh. You can also purchase a 2litre bottle; how-ever this is only available in the Original (blue).

      Using the Product
      = = = = = = = = =
To remove the lid from the bottle you need to squeeze the sides and twist at the same time. This is a safety lid to ensure children can't open the bottle easily. You will see that the lid on the bottle has a tip to it. Ensuring the tip to the bottle was under the rim I squeezed it and moved it around the rim ensuring the product was around the whole of the toilet bowl. The bleach was clear and I could see it slightly as it ran down the inside of the toilet bowl. The smell of the product is quite strong and does has the obvious smell of bleach so when applying the product and leaving over-night I tend to keep the toilet door shut and open the window a little to let the room air. When flushing the toilet for the first time in the morning there is a build up of bubbles and foam but this doesn't really last long. The toilet appeared to look much cleaner and the bowl itself looked much shinier than it had done before. As the room still smelt slightly of bleach it also gave it a very clean feeling to the toilet. Although this makes the toilet look shiny & clean it doesn't really work very well on lime scale and touch stains. Sometimes I apply the product, leave it over-night and then use the toilet brush to scrub the stains a little, which helps to remove the stains a bit better rather than leaving the bleach to do it.

      Overall Opinion
      = = = = = = = =
I purchased this bleach to use in the toilets at work as there is a total of 4 different toilets, and seeing as I work with men the toilets can become rather dirty and a bit grubby so at the end of each day I use the bleach on each of the toilets to help get rid of stains and germs. The product is great at leaving the toilet smelling clean and fresh and also does a good job of leaving the bowl shiny and looking clean. As I paid just £1.00 for this product I can't really complain about anything as it does the job it's supposed to. I would recommend this product to others and I would also be very tempted to try some of the other products in the Domestos range as this one was so good.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        My first choice

When my now husband and I first moved in together, one of his first observations on me was that he thought I was obsessed with bleach. I think on our first supermarket shop I bought loads of the stuff, for the toilets in the house and general cleaning duties. Prior to living with him I had lived in a dirty student hole with other beasts and the only thing we cleaned with was bleach and so this was really all I knew.

        My choice of cleaner

For general cleaning in bathrooms I tend to use a big bottle of Domestos bleach, watered down or sometimes neat and this tends to result in clean sinks, showers and drains. I must admit I find the bottles with angled necks easier for using down the toilet but I always have this strong concentrated bleach in for heavy duty cleaning tasks. I am not really bothered about getting nice smelling products as for me the cleanest smell is bleach anyway!

        In use
I always don the rubber gloves before using this product as it is really strong and not kind to hands and it can be lethal if you get it in your mouth or eye. Now we have children, I make sure it is not accessible to little hands and always keep it out of reach. In the kitchen I use bleach to clean the sink and soak any kitchen cloths. When we mop the floor which is a laminate wood, I use this in the water to make sure the floor is germ free too. I use the bleach watered down for cleaning outside the house, doors and windowsils and any other dirty jobs that require cleaning in the garden, for example when I strip our vaccum cleaner down and clean the inside of the Dyson dirt collector. The Domestos bleach is mainly used in the bathroom though which makes our white tiles, sink, bath and shower nice and shiny. We regularly bleach the toilet using Domestos with the squirty lid.

        What's it like?
Used neat, this bleach is really thick and is great for tackling any stains in the sink or shower floor. I usually water it down for cleaning and a big bottle lasts ages. For me the best bit is the smell though, I love the smell of bleach, it is such a clean smell to me and I think it is far nicer than any floral counterparts!

        Price
You can buy Domestos in all sorts of shapes and sizes. The big two litre bottle (pictured by this review) retails in Tesco for £3 which is reasonable as it lasts ages. A smaller 750 'toilet style' Domestos with a squirty top retails at £1.75 and you can sometimes pick up multiple items for a discount. The bleach comes in different formulas like lime and coloured bottles but my preference is for the original formula.

        My thoughts
Having young children and pets is always something that will make dirt seem more dangerous in your house so it's important to use the right cleaning products to stay on top of things. I favour the Domestos brand, especially for cleaning and have always got a bottle in the house. It is vital to wear gloves when using this product though and be careful about skin contact as it is strong and can damage skin and eyes not to mention the horrific thought of it being swallowed. Another thing to beware of is if it gets on clothing neat it can ruin things and rots away the colour, I must admit my husband's favourite tshirt was bleached by accident when I threw a flannel in the laundry basket that was covered with bleach (not thinking), I don't think he has ever forgiven me for that!

        Final word
Whilst there are a lot of other cleaning products on the market which I have tried over the years, I always return to Domestos bleach as my staple product. My husband has his own favourites in the cleaning lines and I do buy shops own bleach sometimes when it is on offer so I do use other brands but as Domestos is not that expensive to start off with I don't mind paying a bit extra really.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Will buy this if it is on offer

          ==Overview==

Domestos is probably one of the best known brands of bleach available. It is a thick, clear, light yellow bleach which can be used for a variety of purposes. The picture shows the 2 litre bleach bottle which is probably better value for money than buying a 750ml bottle. 2 litres is approximately £3 whilst 750ml is about £1.20. According to the website Domestos is the only bleach to have been accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.

          ==Sizes==

The 2litre bottle does not have the same design as the 750ml bottle, the latter has a small nozzle on it which is much better for getting around the rim of the toilet. I wouldn't advise trying to top up a 750ml bottle with the 2litre style as it could be quite messy so if you want the flexibility of the 750ml bottle, buy that size, if you want the value of the 2 litre, buy that size. I think for the longevity of the product, it is good value at these prices and of course supermarkets regularly have offers on so you can pick it up cheaper. Both have a safety cap on them so it isn't that easy for small children to open the bottles and have a nasty accident.

          ==Uses==

The bleach can be used for a variety of purposes. The two most common uses for me are bleaching the toilet and bleaching the dishcloth every so often. Because it is thick bleach it runs down the side of the toilet slowly and has better coverage than a liquid that is more viscous so from that respect it is good.

          == Compared to other bleaches==

This is where I find it difficult to know if it is worth the extra money to buy Domestos or is any thick bleach just as good? Domestos claims to kill germs, my cheaper Aldi bleach doesn't say anything like that but still gets my dishcloths white and still clings to the side of the loo in the same way that Domestos does. It is hard to know if the claims made by Domestos are true. I haven't had any trouble with my cheaper version of bleach but in both cases I can't see if germs are in fact being killed or not. I guess the accreditation from the Royal Society of Public health should put a mind at ease but I will only buy it now if it is on offer.

          ==Overall==

Domestos is a good bleach, how much better than other thick and cheaper bleaches? I'm really not sure because I can't see the evidence for myself.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A good quality bleach at a value for money price.

This is a bleach. A bleach with twice as much chlorine in it than other household bleaches. The brand's long standing slogan is 'kills all known germs dead'.

          Does it?

I don't have a biochemistry lab in my bathroom but I do know that more chlorine must kill more germs and that when I use it on my toilet I do get a cleaner toilet bowl.

But it will not get rid of limescale. It does contain detergent as well as strong bleaching agents so it will make the toilet look a lot cleaner, but unless you remove the limescale the germs cling to and breed on you will still have germ factories in your loo.

This is a great bleach for soft water areas where limescale is either no problem or easily removed with some scrubbing and the appropriate product. The bleach is visibly thicker than generic bleaches and so clings longer to the sides of the bowl and, therefore, has longer contact time to let its stronger chlorine content kill those germs dead.

For hard water areas it is still a great bleach. But you will have to remove the limescale first using other products or you will just be making the toilet look better rather be healthier. Looking great is important but health and hygiene comes first. This product will bleach your limescale but it will not dissolve it. Domestos has a place and an important one in making your toilet and drains as healthy as they can be and in some areas will be enough on its own. In hard water areas this is not the case even though this is still a really good bleach.

And one that comes at a reasonable price for a quality product. My 750ml bottle set me back £1.12 at Sainsbury's. As it is so thick and clinging you don't need to use as much as you will with store brands making it great value for money.

The bottle the bleach comes in is a strong blue plastic one, shaped with curved spout to make application under the rim as easy as possible. There is a childproof top but like other bleaches Domestos should be kept away from children. Caution should also be taken to avoid inhaling the fumes.

Use is the usual apply under the rim and leave for 15 minutes, though for a more thorough result you should leave it overnight. The bleach can also be used on drains to kill germs and down sinks and bathroom plugholes to disinfect and give a deep clean to your drains.

          All at a reasonable price.

            Domestos bleach

Domestos has been around since 1929 when it was sold by door to door salesmen, who would dispense the bleach into stone jars. Today the product is made by the giant unilver and widely available from all supermarkets. Domestos now comes in several variants including original in a blue bottle, pink power and sun fresh. I like to buy the original. There are of course several cheaper brands of bleach on the market;all claiming to do the same job as Domestos. So is it worth paying extra for this branded make?

I would say most definitely yes! I mainly use Domestos for cleaning and disinfecting my toilets. I am not keen on the powerful smell of bleach ,but find that bleach is the only product that removes stains in the toilet. I pour a little Domestos down my loo and then leave for as long as possible before flushing. If possible it is best to leave Domestos to do its work overnight. The result is a spotlessly clean looking and smelling loo!

Domestos can be used for a whole range of cleaning jobs .When diluted it can be used to wash floors, clean the kitchen, wash outside paths and dustbins. I have used a little diluted in an empty spray bottle when I run out of my favourite flash with bleach spray. I have also used neat Domestos to pour down drains. A little neat Domestos is also a great way to get my white porcelain sink stain free. You do of course, need to be careful when using bleach as it will remove colour from clothing . I also waer rubber gloves when using Domestos.

Unlike other cheaper brands I have tried,Domestos is much thicker and therefore I find I need less to achieve good results. I use Domestos to clean my toilets on daily basis and it really does leave them looking spotless! Domestos contains sodium hypochlorite; a chemical used to clean and disinfect swimming pools. It is a well known chemical that kills germs and leaves a clean * bleached* finish. Bleach can be dangerous in the wrong hands and Domestos has a child proof safety cap that can be a bit tricky to open!

Domestos is presently on offer in Tesco at £1 for a 750ml plastic bottle.

I'm not really loyal to any paticular brand in home cleaning products and sometimes find that store brand products work just as well as the more expensive branded products. I bought a bottle of this from Asda for just £1.00 for 750ml. It feels like you might as well get the branded product when Asda's own is 90p anyway.

Domestos is probably the most popular brand of domestic bleach as it's been around for donkeys years now. They've done a variety of home-cleaning products including different varieties of bleach, toilet cleaners, spray cleaners and limescale remover. The variety of bleach that I buy depends on my mood but I normally go for the yellow bottle which is citrus fresh or the original blue which comes in a dark blue bottle.

The bottles are easy to recognise with the curved bottle shape, bold colour and red lid. The logo is clearly displayed on the front of the bottle along with the basic product information. There's further information and instructions for use on the back of the bottle too. The lid is child proof so you have to give it a litle squeeze before you open it which gives you a bit of peace of mind if you leave it in the bathroom but it isn't very hard to open so I tend to keep it out of reach just in case.

The bleach itself has a thick consistency and is yellow in colour. It doesn't paticularly smell nice, just like standard bleach if your'e using the original. The citrus one does have a hint of lemon freshness to it but the bleach chemicals are strong and you can still smell them.

I use this bleach for a variety of household cleaning including cleaning the loo, cleaning floors and whitening cups. You can use it neat in the bathroom and in the toilet. I just squirt some in, give it a brush around and leave it for a while then flush and it leaves it clean and smelling fresh. When I clean the floor i dilute it in the mop bucket along with boiling water and whatever other cleaning products I can get my hands on like floor cleaner and windowlene. I don't measure how much I dilute but I put a fair bit in and it leaves the house smelling very sterile and clean for hours after I've mopped. I use bleach for the cups that are used for tea and coffee as they often get stained and brown insde over time. I fill each cup with boiling water and add a couple of drops of bleach which leaves the cups lovely and white and clean, just be sure to give them a really good rinse afterwards!

Bleach is irritant so it's always recommended that you use rubber gloves when you're using it but I've never had a bad reaction from this if it comes into contact with my skin.

I always get good results when I've used this bleach and never have to go over or clean things again afterwards so that's a good sign. It leaves things smelling fresh and clean so it definitely does the job. I'd definitely recommend it as it's a good brand that isn't much more expensive than the store brands and it does what it says on the bottle!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

A great bleach which prices itself out of my basket

I use a lot of bleach when cleaning, and Domestos is the brand name that most people go for. But is it any better than your own brand thick bleach?

              **Price and Availability**

A 750ml bottle of Domestos Bleach is priced at £1.20, however can often be found on offer for £1.

It's available in the top five supermarkets and most smaller ones, too, as well as Boots, Superdrug, Wilkinsons and even DIY stores.

How does this compare to the value version? Well I can buy a bottle of 'Domestos-Alike' in B&M Bargains for 39p, so a 61p saving!

              **Bottle**

The bottle is blue (for the standard original bleach scent) with a screw top red lid and a label around the centre with the Domestos logo and instructions / warnings on it. Very standard and very recognisable as bleach.

              **The Bleach, and Use**

The bleach is nice and thick and as close to clear in colour as you can get. It has a very strong bleach smell which I don't mind, but I do open the windows and don't use it near my baby daughter.

It has so many uses around the house -

              - in the loo
              - in the plugholes, in the kitchen and bathroom sinks and in the bath
              - around the taps, to bleach any residue
              - a thin solution to bleach cleaning cloths back to white
              - a very thin solution to clean the kitchen and bathroom floors

and so much more. You need to be careful when using bleach as obviously it does take the colour out of materials but when used sensibly it's great for a 100% clean.

But how does this compare to the value version? Personally, I can't tell the difference..

              **Domestos over Value Brand?**

To be honest as much as Domestos is a great product in itself it prices itself too high for me and I use the Domestos alike for 39p without noticing the difference at all.

              **Overall**

Overall I think that Domestos is a good bleach - it works well, smells good and is easy to use. But when there is an alternative out there which is exactly the same in my eyes which is 61p cheaper then I simply can't give Domestos five out of five because I'd always go for the cheaper option. I guess the extra cost with Domestos goes into the TV advertising and print advertising, which I don't feel that I need to buy a basic bleach anyway. So for me I do think it's a good bleach and I do recommend it in terms of use but if you can get your hands on the cheaper version then obviously I'd say go for that because for the price of the brand you can buy three bottles of the value!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

This is the very best bleach

              WHAT IS IT?

Liquid bleach that is available in a range of bottle sizes.

              HOW DO YOU USE IT?

You can either use Domestos neat to wipe surfaces or clean your toilet, or dilute it for use as a floor cleaner.  I usually dilute some and pour it into a spray bottle for when I am cleaning the bathroom because that makes it a lot easier to use than when it is neat.  The bottles have a child proof cap and are very hard even for adults to open sometimes.

              WHAT I THINK

Domestos is my favourite bleach because it's so thick and it clings to the toilet bowl and sink when I am giving them a proper clean.  The bleach has got a very strong bleach smell and hasn't been perfumed to disguise this, I like the clean smell of it because whenever I use it the room smells freshly cleaned.  I sometimes use it when my husband has been to the toilet because it neutralises that sort of smell effectively   I aim the bleach underneath the rim of the toilet and let it drip down the sides then leave it for half an hour, when I go back and flush the toilet it always looks very clean without me having to scrub it.

I don't buy floor cleaner very often now because Domestos works just as well and all you are losing is the fragrance of the cleaner.  I don't like having too many brightly coloured bottles of cleaner in my home because I think it is too tempting for children so I love that I can use Domestos in place of many different products.  You only need two caps of Domestos mixed with a bucket of water to clean your floor and the bleach not only removes all visible marks but also leaves my floor looking shiny.

I bleach my daughters school shirts every two weeks to remove any stains and freshen the collars up.  I just put them in the sink and fill it up with cold water then add a cap of Domestos and leave them to soak for an hour before washing them as normal, their shirts always look fresh and crisply white and that stands out when they stand next to their friends sometimes and it makes me proud to see them looking so smart.  This is because Domestos is so effective, I bleached my white jeans with it once though and they were ruined because the colour went very patchy and parts of the fabric turned a funny yellow colour.

              5 Dooyoo Stars.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              A good quality bleach

Bleach is a necessity for households and i always have at least one bottle in my cupboards. It is multi purpose- it cleans, disinfects, and kills germs. Although I often buy supermarket own brands nowadays, domestos is still my favorite. I would definitely buy it every week, but I just find it a little too expensive.

              *Price and availability*

Domestos Bleach is available at most supermarkets and comes in a variety of sizes. A 750ml bottle costs around £1.50. When you can buy other brands for less than half this price, I think it is a little expensive.

              *Description*

The bleach comes in a blue bottle with a red child safe cap. Under the cap is a nozzle that is angled so you can squirt it in the awkward to reach places around the toilet. To dispence the bleach, you need to squirt the bottle.

The bottle contains 750 ml of bleach. This bleach is a yellow colour and smells like a strong disinfectant. It gets up the nose a little bit but does make whatever you are cleaning smell fresh. It is extremely thick, so much I find that it has a gel like consistency. You do not need much of the product which is good as a bottle does last an awful lot longer than any other bleach.

              *My experience*

The bleach is great for bathroom and kitchen use and I will be buying it again. When I used it on the toilet, the nozzle made it easy to get right under the rim of the toilet and was thick enough to cling to the side. It comes out like a thick gel like liquid and leaves a good covering round the loo that can even withstand a flush! When I did flush, it foamed up nicely leaving the toilet smelling clean and fresh. This foam also withstood a good few flushes and the bathroom smelt fresh for a long time.

I have also used the bleach on my surfaces in the kitchen and down the drain. I've used it on my kitchen floor by mixing a small cap full with a quantity of water. The floor has been disinfected and left smelling fresh. It dried without being sticky or leaving a filmy layer.

Even though I moaned the bleach was too expensive, it does by far outweigh the other bleaches on the market. Yes it may be expensive, but it lasts a lot longer and makes other bleaches that call themselves thick, laughable.

              *how does it work*

Bleach contains chlorine. Chlorine is a chemical that is used for killing germs in
pools and in our drinking water. So you can correctly assume that the chlorine in the bleach is also working to kill any germs that it comes in to contact with. It kills molds, bacteria, and even algae.

              *Uses*

You can use bleach by diluting it with water or use it neat. You can use it to clean the toilet, to sanitize bins, clean pathways, clean bathrooms, clean kitchens, get mold off of refrigerators, get mold off of your siding, sanitize cat litter boxes and sanitize children's toys.

You can also use bleach to whiten clothing. Clothing that may have been stained and not savable by using regular laundry detergent, can be brought back to life just by adding a cup of bleach to your washing machine. It can also be used to whiten trainers to make them look like new. If you don't want to take the colour out of items, you must be careful when using bleach, it can splash from time to time and it will take the colour out of any material. Don't let your expensive clothes or towels get ruined!

              *Ingredients*

              Less than 5% Nonionic Surfactant
              Anionic Surfactant
              Disinfectant,
              Perfume

              *Warnings*
Do not let the product come into contact with your eyes, do not consume, keep away from children and pets and wash your hands after use.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              A good bleach

When it comes to household products, bleach is something that I cannot live without. Although I tend to use a lot of supermarket own brand products, bleach is one thing that I will not compromise on. My choice of brand is Domestos as it is so well-known and trusted by so many people.

Although Domestos has a full range of different bleaches, the one I always go for is Original Blue. This is a product that can be bought at all supermarkets, sometimes a pound shop and corner shops etc. The price does vary depending on what you buy and where from but generally, a 750ml bottle of Original Blue will set you back around £1.

The packaging is the Domestos signature blue plastic bottle which is probably the most well-known bottle of bleach around. The bottle is thick and tough with the product information printed on the front. The lid is a red screw cap which comes off easily. The neck of the bottle and where the lid is, is a slightly different shape to the rest of the bottle but this makes it easier to hold.

When you squeeze the liquid out of the bottle, the strong smell of bleach does hit you immediately but I don't mind this at all. The smell isn't very nice but it does make you know that whatever you are cleaning is actually being cleaned and not just masking over a problem. The bleach is a thick liquid that is yellow in colour. The bottle is extremely easy to squeeze so the liquid is released easily.

Bleach can be used for a whole range of different household jobs but what I mainly buy it for is cleaning toilets. To do this, all I do is put the top of the bottle of bleach under the rim of the toilet, upright and squeeze the liquid all around. Using the bleach neat is the best way to clean toilets and it is safe to use neat, without having to dilute it at all. I tend to try and leave it there soaking for at least a couple of hours before flushing it away.

Other things this can be used for is cleaning kitchen surfaces and furniture. However, to do this the bleach needs to be diluted with water before use. As the liquid is so harsh, it could damage your surfaces if you try to use it neat. Also, be aware that bleach can ruin your clothes and leave massive stains so be very careful with it when using this around the home.

This Domestos bleach is a great household product which is a great cleaner. While I won't use it on everything, it is the only thing I'll use on my toilet.
