“ Brand: Avon / Type: Room & Linen Spray / Category: Home Fragrance „
I like the rooms sprays from Avon and have been buying them since I was an Avon rep a few years ago initially buying them on demo. Whenever there is a new fragrance I always give it a try to see if I can find a new favourite.
In my house I have 2 children and a number of animals so I actually use quite a lot of air fresheners but I like these sprays as they can be used on fabric too so they really help to freshen up the furniture too.
I only ever buy Avon products when they are on offer as firstly I don't see the point in paying more than needed for an item but also because Avon's offers are so good that they provide great savings. The products are £4 each but I bought 4 for £5 recently which is a £11 saving so as you can see there are great savings to be had.
The product comes in a see through plastic bottle which holds 125mls of product, the top of the bottle has a pump action top and then a little plastic cap which fits over the top of it, to be honest the little lid generally goes in the bin rather than chancing it getting lost with youngster in the house.
I love the scent of this product just like the rest of the linen sprays I think Avon have managed to get some lovely scents which you would want your living areas to smell like. The scent is really strong to begin with but after a couple of minutes the smell eases and then smells really fruity and sweet, the smell lingers for ages and even a few hours after spraying it you can still detect it when you walk in a room.
I really like this product and have a few bottles of it in different rooms of the house, this scent is really pretty and lasts for ages which is great and is a much better smell than kids and dogs. I would recommend the product and this scent but would never buy it at full price.
As part of my Christmas box my friend (who is an avon rep), gave me a lovely set of seasonally scented products, of which this room/ body spray was one of them.
I have tried almost all the other scents within this range, and i love how they can be used for not only freshening up the scent of a room, scenting and reviving bed clothes between washes, but is also suitable as a bodyspray, this product gives a whole new meaning to multi tasking!
This particular one (as a i mentioned earlier), is classed as a seasonal scent, with the obvious meaning of "sugarplum" pertaining to Christmas, though before use i wasn't really sure as to how this would actually smell.
When i did actually smell it i thought it was lovely and fresh, with a real sweet and fruity layer to it, but was dissapointed that it wasn't more Chrissmassy smelling (ie with the inclusion of cinnamen or such like).
The scent lasts reasonably well when used, though tends to linger longer on fabrics than on myself, with this really freshening up my bedclothes after use.
Fabrics wise i have never had a problem with staining when being used, though as this is a pump spray rather than a aerosol mist spray, care has to be taken to not over saturate the fabric being sprayed (particularly before bedtime, i sprayed my bed once only to find that it was still damp when we went to bed, my husband was not amused!).
The bottle itself holds 125ml of liquid, which (even with daily use) should last a good month, as a little goes a long way.
This particular scent )if im being honest) was nice, but by no means my favourite, with it being a little too fresh and light for my tastes, though my 11 year old daughter loves it, and i do prefer her to have lighter scented sprays due to her tender age.
This scent is available sporadically via your local avon representative, or from www.avonshop.co.uk, though i do tend to hold out for the offers, as full price you can pay upto the £3.00 mark for this, so i wait until it's available at £1.00 a bottle.....then stock up!
Thanks for reading x
~ Avon Sugar Plum & Vanilla Room & Linen Spray ~
As I have mentioned in previous reviews I have a regular Avon lady who brings along a brochure to my house for me to have a look at at my leisure, it was probably this time last year that I bought this and after my first original purchase I stocked up by buying a further five bottles as I liked the scent so much, which I didn't think I would do as I usually give anything containing vanilla a very wide berth but it was the Sugar Plum part that really sold it to me!
The bottle is comes in is a slim clear plastic bottle, on top of which is a little pump action sprayer (spritz) lid, the sprayer also has it's own little clear plastic lid too.
The bottle holds 125ml of liquid and this too is clear in colour, it simply looks like a bottle of water! The bottle has a label on the front holding all the relevent information and also a picture showing glistening sugar plums.
Whilst looking through the book it was the label of the bottle that first caught my eye and I thought it looked like it would be a nice sweet scent, then I spotted the vanilla in the scent and had a brief change of heart, before going back and writing the information required on my Avon order form. After doing that and handing the form back to my rep I simply had to wait for delivery which came approximately a week later.
When it arrived I sprayed a squirt into the air and gave a sniff and I have to say I was delighted by the sweet scrummy scent, so much so I went around the house and sprayed the stairs carpet, the curtains and any other fabric items around the house (apart from clothing!). I was instantly taken with the scent so I checked out the new brochure that the Rep had left with me for the next time and saw that Avin had them on offer at 99p, and that is when I ordered a further five bottles.
My son really liked the scent and asked if I would get him one for his room, so when I had then next Avon delievery I put a bottle of the spray on his unit and told him to just give the curtains and bedding a quick spray each morning.
My whole upstairs was scented with this delightful scent and I was very happy with it.
The only disappointing factor with this is that the scent doesn't seem to linger for very long, an hour or two maximum and then nothing. It is worth spraying this just before guests arrive as it does leave a fab scent.
It also does not leave fabrics wet as it is a light mist that comes out of the spray nozzle.
The scent is really lovely, it's a swee candy scent, but it is no way overpowering. I really love it!
Thanks for reading :o) x
---Why I Buy This---
I am not an avid user of air fresheners or room sprays, preferring to use Yankee wax tarts - or better still fresh air.
However as I have access to Avon catalogues this seemed like a very good product to try when it was on offer - and it is always handy having a bottle of something that you can use quickly to freshen up the place if visitors are arriving or in the bathroom when it needs a little help to smell 'fresh'.
Previously I had been given a Bluebell spray from the National Trust which I kept on a bookcase shelf for ease of use whenever necessary in the living room.
From Avon Naturals range which focuses on fruity and natural aromas.
Clear plastic pump action spray bottle.
Clear pull off stopper.
Transparent front and back labels with images of sugar plums.
125 mls Sugar Plum & Vanilla Room and Linen Spray.
Made in Poland.
Flammable - do not spray directly onto wooden surfaces or your face.
Keep away from heat or flame and children.
Spray two or three times towards the centre of the room.
Full price is £4 but I got recently on offer as 4 for £5 so £1.25 each.
This looks quite attractive, having clear liquid in a clear bottle.
The writing on the labels is kept to a minimum and if this bottle was left standing in your living room or bathroom would be indistinguishable from a body spray bottle.
Regardless of the instructions on the bottle I would only use one short squirt of the spray. It has a very fruity aroma - not unlike a fruit yoghurt smell - slightly sweet but not too sickly and overpowering - although vanilla is mentioned in the title there is no smell of it - not noticeable to me anyway.
If used in the bathroom if would just linger and leave an impression of perfume having been used.
This definitely does not smell like 'air freshener' - more as if you were using perfume or body spray.
One spray is enough to give a faint aroma without being overpowering and as it is pump action one spray can be quite short.
I have not tried the shower gel but the hand and body lotion smells identical.
Not something I would use every day but very nice to freshen up the place when people come calling.
Also it is handy to have a spare bottle in the bathroom when it needs a fresher atmosphere.
I believe this was brought our more for the Christmas period but although I suppose sugar plum is meant to be festive it does not evoke Christmas for me and I think it could be used through the year so long as you like the smell - it does not seem to 'heavy' or spicy.
On checking it seems that this will be discontinued after campaign 8 so time to stock up if this is a favourite.
Personally I have not used this to spray either towels or sheets.
Towels because I do not want chemicals sprayed onto an item I will use on my face and sheets because I live with men and they would not appreciate plum smelling bed linen.
---Would I Recommend?---
This scent came out not long before Christmas and I think it was pitched at a christmas kind of scent. I wouldn't say the scent is Christmassy, but I wasn't fussed I just had to try it. I do like the Avon Naturals range and also like to try new scents so I bought this scent in this room spray as well as the Shower Gel and Body Lotion.
I think when I bought them they were on a 3 for £4. As with Avon there is often offers on, and although this costs £4 normally for the 125ml bottle this can be bought for as low as 99p. The bad news is that this is now getting discontinued in the main book but no doubt this will pop up in sale books now and again.
The bottle looks quite plain and is a simple clear plastic bottle with a stick on wrap around label on it. The picture on the front looks nice enough with a picture of a Plum on it.
The scent of this is nice. It is quite a strong scent and as soon as I sprayed this I could smell this even with just 1 squirt. It is a lovely scent and a nice Fruity scent which has a bit sweetness to it. It smells quite natural and I tend to squirt about 6-7 squirts of this to freshen a room up. This spray is safe to use on fabrics too so you can spray this on your Couch, bed etc. This spray doesn't eliminate scents like what Oust does, but this leaves a nice subtle scent later on in the day.
This smell is definitely 1 of my favourite scents out and just a shame that it hasn't been out all that long. Perhaps it will make an appearance this Christmas time but I will stock up on a few before it disappears and will buy some in the sale books if they pop up there too.
I think that everyone always ants a nice smelling house - the thought of a visitor turning up unannounced and then going away thinking that my house smells fills me with dread, so I have a constant supply of air fresheners in all sorts of formats at the ready. The latest addition to my collection is Avon Sugar Plum and Vanilla Room and Linen Spray which I received as a stocking filler this Christmas.
~*~ Packaging ~*~
The spray comes in a fully recyclable clear plastic bottle which stands at 14cm high and has a diameter of 6cm so I think that it is a perfect size to be inconspicuous in any room, but even if it is visible, it has an attractive picture on the front of the fruity ingredients which I think is fairly nice and the simplistic writing on the bottle is small and not in the slightest bit garish.
The bottle has a pump action dispenser which is very easy to use and which distributes a generous, yet fine mist into the air. As the contents are very clear watery in consistency, I would consider it very unlikely that this dispenser would ever clog. It is clearly visible that the tube from the dispenser into the bottle reaches all of the way to bottom which I really appreciate - it bothers me a lot when the tube doesn't reach and the last centimetre or so of the product is wasted. A clear cap covers the pump, but once the bottle is in use, I generally discard the cap as I find it surplus to requirements.
~*~ The product ~*~
I have had several experiences with Avon room sprays, in many different scents and I have been fairly impressed by all of them, but as far as aroma goes, I believe that this one has the most pleasant scent of the lot. The instructions state that two or three sprays should be pumped into the air, but I find that one spray is sufficient for the scent to be noticed. The first aroma that I can detect is undoubtedly the sugar plum. It is a sweet fruity smell that has just a touch of sourness to it, but it is extremely pleasant. The sourness very quickly fades and then the vanilla is clearly evident, coming to the front for a few seconds before all of the aromas mix leaving the room with a gorgeous perfume that is sweet and light, and not at all overpowering - imagine plum jam cooking slowly on an Aga and you wouldn't be too far wrong.
When used as a room spray, the scent lingers in the air for up to two hours, depending on the room size. I tend to keep this product in the downstairs cloakroom which is very small and I can smell it for a long time after it has been dispensed. As well as making the room smell fresh, it also covers bad odours very well, and lasts for long enough for the original smell to disperse. This scent is also a linen spray, and it also does a good job here too. I have sprayed it onto bedding and towels (it only takes a minute or so to dry) and the scent has remained for about 8 hours which I have been more than pleased with. Because it is a clear product, it does not stain, and it does not even leave a water mark which is always a bonus. Over the Christmas period we had guests virtually every day and I found that a squirt of this into the air in the morning and at lunchtime, alongside a liberal spray on the guest towel left the cloakroom beautifully scented all day - several guests even commented on the lovely aroma and asked what it was.
~*~ Price and availability ~*~
Avon Naturals sugar plum and vanilla room and linen spray (125ml) is only available from Avon; either online at avonshop.co.uk or via your local Avon Lady. It is currently (Jan '12) priced at just 99p, on promotion. The usual retail price is £4 which I think is quite a lot for such a product, but for 99p I think that it is a lovely product that I would highly recommend. If you really like the smell, there is also hand and body lotion and shower gel in the same scent. Avon have a habit of discontinuing products like this quickly, so if you fancy this one, I would snap it up now before it disappears.
