      Overall good

I don't generally buy air fresheners but on a trip without me to the supermarket, my fiancé decided to purchase an Ambi Pur 3volution air freshener because it was on offer in the Co-op and it came with 2 refills free. I wasn't totally amused because it has set him back £4.99!!

The fresher is a plug in air freshener which is inspired by three different fragrances, 'open windows', 'newly moan grass' and 'morning breeze'. The reason I don't normally bother with them is because you tend to get used to the same smell all the time and although there is always a can in our bathroom (for obvious reasons) I don't bother with a constant air freshener all the time. It was bought now so I couldn't take it back and he looked so pleased with his purchase, we all stood round as he unpacked it and plugged it in. Sniffing furiously we agreed that the smell was in fact quite pleasant. The fragrance rotates every 45 minutes so you get a new smell, which you actually notice. Indeed after 45 minutes, you do get a waft of a different scent floating round the room. With this air freshener there is no way of adjusting how much fragrance you get at each time, although I cannot tell which smell is meant to be which, there is one of the three that it quite overpowering and I am really not keen on, because of this for 2/3rds of the time the scent is quite pleasant but then you have the overpowering smell for 45 minutes.

Overall it is a good idea, the change in smells is nice and you do end up, in the middle of a program sniffing the air saying 'ohhh new smell'. They last a long time as well, even if you have them on every day, they last a good three months. Now we have a refill as well, we have a good six months left. I am intrigued to try out other varieties though.

      Sweet Smelling Home

I have recently quit smoking and have looked into many way of encouraging myself to stay quit. One of these ways is to remind myself of how nice the house smells without all the stale smoke clinging to the furniture. I use Ambi-Pur plug in air fresheners which makes the house smell lovely and really reminds me how nice the house smells without the smoke, and with the help of this product.

      About Ambi Pur Plug In
These room fragrances work using the "plug-in" method. First you need to buy the plug-in holder and then you can choose which of their fragrances you wish to 'plug in' to the holder. The Ambi Pur holder is approximately 4 inches in height and 1.5 inches in width and depth.
The plug-in holder has a control release mechanism that allows you to set the level of air freshener that is released into the room. It goes on a scale of 1 to 5 and works really well. Personally I tend to keep the level at either 1 or 2 as this releases enough fragrance for it to be noticeable but not too much that it becomes overpowering.
The plug in bottle is see through which is very useful as it allows you to see how much liquid is left.

      Packaging
The plug in re-fills come in a cardboard box which are various colours depending on which range you buy. I tend to buy the Innocence fragrance and this comes in a lilac box which has Ambi Pur written across the front. It also has the fragrance name written across the front, along with a picture of which holder this re-fill can be used for (as there are various holders on the market)
On the back they have a small amount of info about the fragrance you have selected along with advertisements for other products in this range.
Innocence is described as a light fragrance inspired by fresh linen. Perfect for living rooms and bedrooms.

      Price
The plug in holder itself is quite expensive for what it is, but once you have bought one, it will last you for a long while so I suppose it is worth the money really. The holder will set you back £6.98 (these prices are what they cost at Tesco). Each re-fill after that will then cost you £3.48.

      Range
As these 'plug in's' have now been around for quite a while, they is actually quite a large range of fragrances to choose from. As well as having various fragrances, they also have different ranges such as the Anti Tobacco range, a range designed to rid your home of Pet smells, 3volution and a couple of others.
They have three main categories that each fragrance comes under. For example Warm and Rich Fragrances are ones such as Harmony, Elegance and Aromatic Wood, Soft and Calm Fragrances are ones such as Innocence, Dream Away and Soft Linen and then Fresh and Vibrant Fragrances are ones such as

      Natural Stone, April and Zoom.
They also produce limited edition fragrances at Christmas etc, for example, this year at Christmas they produced the fragrance Mulled Wine which was lovely and I wish I had bought more of them now!
Ambi Pur also do the same fresheners for cars so be very careful when buying a new refill as I have bought one for a car before by mistake as they look so similar.

      Do They Actually Work?
Yes, these plug in's certainly work. My living room door is shut at night time to make sure my dogs do not decide to sleep on the sofa and firs thing in the morning when I open the door, I am greeted by the lovely smell of the plug in. As I mentioned, I tend to keep the level at 1 - 2 and this provides a nice pleasant odour throughout the whole of the room. A higher setting than this can lead to a very overpowering smell which to be honest can be quite unpleasant because it is just so strong.

      How Long Do They Last?
On the packaging it states that each re-fill holds 20ml and will last 75 days and this is a fairly realistic estimation. I have a plug in air freshener in my front room and also in my bedroom. I have to admit that the one in my front room always seems to last longer than the one on my bedroom. I have a feeling that this is because the one in my bedroom is positioned near to the door so more fragrance is used by the fact that the door is always opening and closing whereas the one in my living room is tucked away under a shelf.
On average though, you can expect a 20ml refill to last around 2 months which isn't bad considering the re-fill costs £3.48.

      Summary
I would definitely recommend this product. It has certainly been a great incentive for me in giving up smoking as it allows me to realise how nice the house can smell. I did use this product while I still smoked in the house and although you could smell that, I could still smell the underlying hint of stale smoke (maybe I should have used the Anti-Tobacco ones!).
Although initially they seem quite expensive with the holder costing nearly £7, these holders last for ages. I have one that I have had for over 2 years and it still works perfectly.
The one thing you do need to be careful of is that you keep an eye on hw much liquid is left as if the freshener runs out, the holder can get warm and the nib of it dries out and may not be able to be used again - meaning you will have to buy another holder. T is quite easy to keep an eye on how much liquid you have left though as they refill is made from glass and you can easily see how much liquid you have left.

One more thing, be very careful with the plug in. For example, sometimes I take the plug in out for a while to plug in something else i.e., the hoover and you need to be very careful where you place the plug in. It doesn't balance very well and if it falls over then it will stain carpets, furniture etc so make sure you are careful.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        I wouldn't bother if I were you

It doesn't seem many years ago since we were introduced to the concept of plug-in air fresheners and before long it was the Ambi Pur brand that became dominant in the UK market.

There is a huge market for things which mask or create smells - this market was previously satisfied when we were young in our house by doing such enterprising things as opening a window. Nowadays, we all make a multiplicity of smells and rather than ventilate the area with good old fresh air, we spend our hard-earned pennies on gimmicky air fresheners, just adding unnecessary stuff into the air that we breathe.

The other day whilst cleaning the garage I found about 15 of these empty or nearly empty plug-ins that we have used in the past and which for some reason we have not thrown out.

There was a certain novelty factor at the outset when these things were first introduced but these days we tend to have the doors and windows open all day when we are in and we don't use these anymore. I am sure we are healthier for it.

I can see why they were and still are popular, appealing as they do to the convenience market, but the reality is that you do need a few of these on any given floor to have an impact. Otherwise, you just end up with quite a small area around the electricity socket smelling of goodness knows what unnatural substance - and to be honest my sockets don't smell unpleasant at all so never need to be refreshed in this way.

The case of an Ambi Pur air freshener is made of plastic and incorporates a sturdy three pin plug. Within the unit is a removable glass bottle which contains the concentrated smelly stuff and a wick. Each unit has a dial which allows the user to regulate the flow from 1 which might just be sufficient to mask the smell of a passing fly fart to 5 which is never enough to hide the smell of human botty burps or smelly feet or an overheated grill pan.

The idea is that the very small amount of heat generated when you plug these in helps to release the pong via the wick and you can of course buy refills so that you don't need to keep buying the full unit. If you were to work out the price per litre of this stuff, it would be HUGELY expensive. Me? - I'd rather open a window and keep my money in my pocket.

I'm going to give them a 3 because you have to admire the marketing of the product and they do sort of work in a very limited and unsatisfactory way, but to anyone using these out there in dooyoo land, I'm going to give you a 1. The world can manage quite well without these and so can you!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Well worth the investment, especially if you are experimenting with new air fresheners

This review is for the '3volution Vanilla Treat'

3Volution is a 3 scent combination air freshener which is fitted into an electrical diffuser which in turn is plugged into your everyday household plug socket. The electrical charge warms the unit and slowly releases the three individual scents into your room.

My Girlfriend likes to experiment with air fresheners, usually favoring blossom type smells, spring glades, lavender and such like, but vanilla is one she keeps coming back to. I must admit, I am not a great fan of strong flowery fresheners - they tend to remind me of old women, folded napkins and womens' sensible underpants.

Anyway, I tend to like simple fragrances, and am a firm fan of vanilla. This was on offer in Wilkinsons - £3.98 - and it usually retails around £7-10. The box says it can last up to 90 days if used sparingly ( up to 12 hours a day), and I am all for that although my girlfriend likes to sniff lovely smells all the time. Being a boorish male, all I do is flatulate, scratch myself and belch (allegedly), so what could I possibly know, eh?

You operate the diffuser by simply turning the wall socket on or off, and there is a slider switch on the left hand side that has 3 settings between minimum and maximum. I have always used it on low, and yet it still operates effectively and fills my large room nicely. I have yet to put it on maximum or leave on 24 hours a day, but I suspect this would be overkill in all but the largest room.

Obviously this depends on what kind of environment you plan to use it in and what type of residents there are - if you had stinky moggies or dogs, obviously there would be a greater need for a stronger counter effect to their odours, and similarly if you were to use it in a bathroom it would not last as long as in my living room.

Well, I have to admit that this fragrance is smooth, pleasant and most certainly has a presence. I wouldn't call it 'fresh', as it in no way reminds me of clean washing or pristine meadows, but instead it conjures up a nice warm, comfortable, welcoming room/dwelling association for me.

You can buy refils for around £3-7 depending on where you shop, and once you have the diffuser (included with this as I stated before), you have the option to try various different fragrances - which I plan to do.

I would recommend this product, especially at the knock down half price I paid for it. I would probably pay top whack for it too.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A very good air freshener product that I would highly recommend.

I have never really been that into air fresheners. I also had in my mind the sprays that used to be out that essentially choked people when you had sprayed them all around the room. However I had recently bought a Glade freshmatic (which works pretty well) & My wife & I saw Ambi Pur plug ins on offer in my local Tesco for £3.00 each on offer so we decided to try one.

It comes in a box which has inside the little plug in gadget & a bottle of fragrance that you insert into the plug. The fragrance that came with the one I bought was part of their National Geographic range & was Japanese Garden. I pluged it into the socket in my bedroom & turned it on. To be fair, I expected to see some action. Nothing happened. I thought, OK & left it turned on.

When I can back into the room 2 hours later I was amazed. The entire room smelt really very nice. The smell wasn't overpowering or choking but the delicate & floral scent of the fragrance my wife had chosen was distinctly present.

There are four strength settings to choose from. We had it on level 2 of 4 & had it in our bedroom & I would say the level is just right. According to the packaging if you have it on for 12 hours a day at setting 2 it will last 80 days. In my opinion the only things it's missing are some sort of indicator so you actually know its on &possibly a timer although you could buy one yourself.

I was very happy with the product & want to get one for our living room & move the freshmatic into the bathroom. It is a very good product that I think works very well & would be more than happy to recommend. You could even put it on a timer & set it to start working an hour before you are due home from work to be greeted by a fantastic smelling room.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

It adds what some cleaners aren't able to give.

I think I am like most women, I have certain tasks in my household routine that are absolutely essential in my book. I suppose you could even go as far as saying they become `fetishes`, I love to peg out sparkling clean laundry and I like my toilet bowl to be clean and sweet !
Oh dear, what a sad life !

Toilet bowls can be so difficult to keep clean, we live in an area where the water is medium to hard so I do have to be wary of any scale build up. Like most I bleach and Harpic, I scrub under the rim and on high days and holidays I go up around the bend with a scourer ( obsessive I know )
But not only do I want my toilet bowl to look clean I want it to smell clean, bleach and toilet cleaners smell hygienic but they do lack perfume.

I find that I cannot get on with the cistern blocks, I am not too keen on plonking little blocks under my cistern lid and some of the rim blocks can be a bit tough to position so that they stay in place.
Last week I bought an Ambi-Pur Spring Collection Blossoming Flowers rim block in Wilkinson's, it was on the reduced shelf and I paid £1.38, which I thought was an acceptable price.

It was the packaging that lured me, on the front of the card there is a pretty cluster of pink cherry blossom and when I picked up the package I noticed a small slot in the clear plastic covering that invited you to `smell here`. That clinched the deal, I was able to smell before I bought and I was suitably impressed.

The Ambi-Pur Spring Collection is a liquid rim block, one half of the contemporary unit contains a peachy coloured liquid and the other half is empty. In theory every time that you flush the loo a measured amount of the liquid will be allowed to enter the flowing water and that cleaner will help your toilet look clean, prevent further lime scale build up and above all ( from my point of view ) it will help the loo to smell fresh.

The Ambi-Pur unit is easy to slot together, you just push the top container that holds the liquid onto the bottom container and then hook it over the bowl. When the two units are clipped together the seal on the liquid will automatically be broken allowing it to start flowing.
The hook that fixes the unit over the bowl is at least long enough to allow a good firm grip and the Ambi-Pur unit does not look like you have slipped an alien under the toilet rim, in fact it is quite a good looking piece of equipment.

The liquid smells sweet and floral though there is no one fragrance that stands out. When you flush you get a minimal amount of bubble and that soft floral fragrance is left sitting in the water in the bowl. You can smell that perfume as you flush and it is pleasant.
Ambi-Pur say that the rim block will last for up to five weeks, but lets be fair if you are a relentless `flusher` then the life of the product is going to be far shorter.
The liquid level in my unit has hardly moved in the past week so I feel that it may well last me a good few weeks.

The floral smell suits my needs, you can apparently buy refills for the unit but I always seem to end up replacing the whole thing.
If Ambi-Pur can assist me in my campaign for a clean china bowl then all well and good, I am using the product in conjunction with my normal cleaners.

There is another rim block in the same range that is called `Spring Morning` and this one has more of a citrus fragrance.
The Ambi-Pur products are manufactured by Sara Lee household and body care UK Ltd.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

If your house smells so bad you need Ambi-Pur, your underlying problems are greater than you think

I once briefly rented a room in a shared house where one of the housemates liked using 'Ambi Pur' plug-in room freshener. That is how I became acquainted with this ghastly product - the existence of which, until then, I had been blissfully unaware.

Synthetic air-fresheners have always seemed to me to be a bad idea. Why not open a window, to get rid of stale air indoors instead?
Happily, when I was young the only air fresheners available for my parents to use were aerosol perfumes in a limited range of different scents ('Rose Pink'; 'Woodland Green'; 'Fresh Blue' and so on) that though sickly and repulsive at first spraying, did at least have the advantage of dispersing fairly quickly. Nowadays with Ambi-Pur and its ilk however, even that avenue of escape has been denied us, as the products are intended to be long-lasting, so that their perfumed reek can just go on and on and on....

The way these things work is that you plug the Ambi-Pur plastic 'holster' or whatever into the wall socket, switch on the current and the electricity in some way causes the so-called room-freshening "fragrance" to be continually dispersed from the dispenser. This will go on and on until the little bottle of 'scent' housed in the holster runs out - that or there is divine intervention in the form of a power cut. Because oh, it is evil, repulsive stuff. The air freshener in the shared house I lived in was located in the communal sitting room, downstairs, but the stink of the Ambi-Pur when it was switched on permeated the entire house very effectively. The people who designed this fiendish device probably INTENDED something like that to happen. It's probably SUPPOSED to carry over long distances, or something. Worse than that, the oily residues of the stale scent would cling to your clothes, so you would end up having to keep smelling the gakking stuff all day long. Admittedly, the immediate stench would stop if the electrical supply to the plug was cut off, but the persistence of the aromatic compounds used in the 'perfume' meant that the smell of it would still linger, long afterwards.

There was some research a few years ago that linked the use of fake / synthetic scents in air fresheners like 'Ambi-Pur' to a variety of respiratory and autoimmune illnesses and health problems, particularly in young children. I can't say that finding surprised me one bit.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Pretty and pink, nice fragrance for the car in your life!

I started driving in April and I got the 'CAR' bits and bobs bug! You know when you learn something new or start a new hobby you want EVERYTHING you can get for it. You start the gym you buy the outfits, trainers, water bottles... blah blah blah...
Well, that's how I found out about this...AMBI PUR 'CAR' FOR HER.

It's a small white and pink air freshener for your car. It's aimed at females (I'm guessing because we are the ones more likely to buy these 'bits and bobs', especially when they are pretty and pink!)
Anyway, I was fairly impressed by the packaging, like I said a lovely pink and very simple to look at so nice to put in your car. I bought mine from Halfords for £4.99. Fairly expensive I'd say but still was worth a try. The fragrance was very nice, flowery, fresh and obviously feminine. It does have a good old 'scratch and sniff' on the box' which is quite good but does not smell as good as the real thing.

This is what the product boasts to have:
              * Air vent mounting car air freshener : Wish it does, and it does stay there.

              * Real perfume: Quite strong to begin with but I does fade away until you do not notice the smell but others do.
              * Adjustable diffuser: 5 different strengths, I tended to put it on the maximum once the smell had gone down, this may be why it did not last to long.

              * Fragrance lasts up to 60 days : Supposedly, it didn't seem to last that long.
              * Refills available: Can not find the same ones that came with this originally so had to buy another whole one for £4.99.

All in all I would say this product is quite expensive, but is very eye catching and a lovely air freshener to have in you car. It does work, but is a bit of an impulse buy. I'm sure you could get cheaper fresheners that work just as good but I think the price is for the looks rather then for the actual job that it does.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

An adequate room fragrancer. Don't leave it on permanently!

As a smoker, I rarely smoke anywhere in the house other than the study which is one of the only rooms that no-one else goes in to. During the summer and the good weather, the cigarette smell isn't a problem with the windows wide open etc but while shopping the other day and the colder, wintery weather setting in, I thought that I would get a room freshener.

There were too many to choose from on the shelves so, not being a patient soul, I grabbed one of the first ones I came across, Ambi Pur Plug-In Harmony Room Freshener.

              - Price -

This was 3.99 at Morrisons but I noticed that some were as much as 6 pounds!

              - Packaging and Contents -

This comes in a cuboid shaped box, inside of which is a plastic container holding the actual bottle and alongside this is the plug-in attachment. The item measures approx 9cm x 4cm.

              - How easy is it to put together? -

In short, very.......simply take the lid off the bottle and insert it into the diffuser until you hear it click in to place.

              - My Experience -

The side of the diffuser has an adjustable dial at the side, numbered from 1 - 5 which controls the amount of 'smell' that the dispenser emits. This is very useful as I only have quite a small room so find that the number 1 setting is more than adequate, however for anyone trying to cater for a large room with high ceilings etc there is the option of diffusing more of the fragrance in to the room at any one time.

I plumped for the Warm Vanilla Lily in the 'Harmony' range of Ambi Pur products.

I have to say that it has certainly done the trick and the faint smell of tobacco has been removed from the room within the first half an hour or so. The smell however can be quite over-powering, and gave me a little bit of a headache so what I tend to do know is leave it on for an hour or so and then switch it off and the fragrance does stay around for quite a while.

This is obviously only suitable if you have a 'spare' socket in the room. I have used fragranced candles before but find this so much neater and less cumbersome.

Ambi Pur suggest that this will last up to 75 days but don't advise you as to what number (1-5) this is based on. I can imagine that mine will last a whole lot longer since I only have it on intermittently. When I do eventually run out there are refills available which are cheaper than the 'starter' pack which I bought!

              - Ambi Pur Products -

Ambi Pur have a range of products and fragrances available, some of which I have listed below:
              * Warm and Rich Fragrances ( harmony, elegance & aromatic wood)
              * Soft and Calm Fragrances (innocence, dream away & soft linen)
              * Fresh and Vibrant Fragrances (natural stone, april & zoom)

              For more information visit www.ambipur.com
Ambi Pur make a perfume promise 'Love our fragrances or your money back'. All of their fragrances are developed with real perfume essence.

Overall I am pleased with this product in terms of removing unpleasant tobacco odours and now that I have the right balance of how long to keep it on for, it certainly does the trick!

                Disadvantages

                Overpowering chemical smell

I bought one of these to mask the smell of a wet dog. I prefer the wet dog! The smell is very chemical and although I turn it down to the lowest setting, it is still very strong. My daughter made me turn it off as it made her feel sick. I have always liked their other products, especially the plug-ins, so find 3volution very disappointing. Can Ambi Pur not make a 3volution from the scents used in the single plug-in?

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

You will never go back to normal plug ins

Its the most simple of ideas ! after a while your nose stops smelling the usual plug in air freshners cos it gets used to the smell ?

So they made one where the 3 fragrances alternate ! i dont know why i didnt think of that i could have been rich :)

I have to admit there is no way i would have paid the £6.00 i have seen this product at in various supermarkets , however i stumbled across it at my trusty Quality Save store and decided to give it a go at £2.99

                  PACKAGING

The unit is packaged in a clear plastic bubble type packaging similar to the ones which kids toys come in ( you know the ones that are impossible to open )

It has a cardboard inner which is visible through the plastic and has all the product info on

When you eventually get the unit out of the packaging a coupon pops out for £1 off your next refill ( a nice touch i thought and it will come in very handy )

                  FRAGRANCES

3volution comes in the following fragrance collections...

HEAVENLY FLOWERS - inspired by sensual , floral , roses , velvety petals and wild orchids

FRESH NEW DAY - inspired by open windows, newly cut grass , fresh dewy earth

SEASIDE BREEZES - f inspired by fresh sea air, lapping waves ,soft wet sand

ORIENTAL DREAMS -inspired by oriental bamboo , heady incense and woody spices

                  THE UNIT

The unit is much wider than an average plug in but should still fit onto any plug socket easily , you will need about an inch clearence either side .

The reason why it is so wide is that unlike other plug ins there are 3 bottles of fragrance that are mounted in a holder and clip into the underside of the diffuser

Each bottle connects to an opening where the fragrance escapes and has a light next to the hole . When you plug the diffuser in the first fragrance is released and the first light comes on ... after 45 min the fragrance switches to the second one and the second light comes on and so on...............

The diffuser continues like this untill the power is switched off or the fragrance runs out

There is a MAX-MIN switch on the side of the unit so you can control the strength of the fragrance ( i would recommend MIN to most people unless you have a very large room as its very powerful )

The fragrances last for 90 days if used for 12hrs a day at minimum setting which is very good value ,

You will also find you do not really need your spray air fresheners as the room will be scented all the time and more importantly you will be able to smell it all the time

Like the company say your nose does not get used to the smell and i can even tell when the fragrance changes without looking because it is so noticeable

This may be odd if you had three very different scents but as the scents come in a themed collection they are similar and therefore it works

I would happily pay the full wack for this product now , but it is well worth checking out your local pound shops etc.. as it is new on the market

there are also a few popping up on Ebay at the moment

                  Disadvantages

I won't buy anything else for serious odor problems. Yes, it's great for cat odors, but in our family, we have another situation. Mother-in-law in the last year had to have a cancerous bladder removed, and a urostomy bag replaces her normal bladder function. That bag needs to be emptied into the toilet several times a day. Without the bladder to add some additional fluids and um...errrr "buffering", the waste is pure uric acid and the aroma is nearly overwhelming. Ambi-Pur handles that like nothing else we've tried. Hospital recommended, and they're RIGHT!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

These air fresheners plug into your electrical sockets. You get a white plastic, plug-shaped holder which you push into a socket. The little bottle of air freshener is said to be made with real perfume. These plug-ins are about 4 by 1.5 inches in size and they do stick out from the wall. My wall sockets are about twelve inches off the ground which puts them at perfect shin level. I have managed to catch them a few times, especially when vacuuming. The fragrance of the perfume is difused as the element heats up. These are very effective and you can adjust the perfume release if you find them too strong. You can get an anti tobacco aroma which is very pleasant and one that purports to eradicate 'pet smells'. The trouble is that they just cover up smells with other smells which can't be good for any of us. Most other air fresheners do this too. I paid 5.99 for my last Ambipur which is about average, but I have seen them for as little as 3.99 and as much as 6.99. Refills are available but I haven't managed to find any that actually save me money on the price of a full unit. One of these lasts me about 21 days, depending which room it is in and how much air goes through it. They are supposed to last for 30 days. I have started to switch mine off and only put them on again at times when I might have used an air freshener. Essential oils mixed with a little water make a much more effective, non chemical, perfumed room spray, and that costs just a few pence per bottle!

                    • "no good for a quick burst of reshness"

When I moved house I bought some Ambi-Pur plug in perfume jobbies. I thought they'd be ideal for making a nice new house smell nice and new. The product consists of a glass vial of perfume and an adaptor to plug it into your regular household socket. The idea is that the electrical supply heats the perfume and it disperses into your home. Once you hvae used all the perfume you can just buy refill glass vials so that your first purchase is the most expensive. A range of fragrances are offered most are floral based this opinion relates to the purple boxed Floral Bouquet fragrance. You can also buy fresheners specifically designed to get rid of cooking smells. At first I plugged the devices in and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly they worked and made the place smell fresh. After a couple of weeks there was still perfume in the glass vials but no smell was coming out. I turned all the dials up to max but still nothing. I am very disappointed with this product. I says it freshens your home for around a month yet did nowhere near that for me. Thank goodness I got the product on Buy one get one free!!! I bought the product from my local supermarket on the BOGOF deal. Looking at the special offer leaflets that come through the door from other supermarkets this product seems to be promoted pretty regularly so if you are going to try it shop around for the best deal. I would not buy this product again nore recommend it to anyone else.
