“ Brand: Other Brands / Misc House Type: Room Spray „
I've been having a bit of a clear out recently and have come across quite a few products I forgot I even had. This Body Shop Pomegranate & Raspberry room spray is one of the treasures I've uncovered. This costs £7 but I'm pretty sure I bought it while it was on offer for a much more reasonable price!
First things first, I LOVE the packaging of this product. It comes in a lovely heavy feeling glass bottle which to me screams quality, and it looks really classy, especially when compared to your average air freshened container. It looks lovely on my dressing table amongst my more fancy bottles of lotions and potions. I has a small black lid which lifts off easily to reveal the spray underneath.
I find the spray easy to depress and it gives a nice fine mist of the spray, meaning I don't end up with wet patches wherever I've sprayed it, which is the major downfall of many similar products.
The scent of the spray is absolutely lovely, I find it really fresh and uplifting. The scent is very natural and not synthetic or chemical smelling, it really does smell just like fresh fruit and good enough to eat. Just a few spritzes around the room are enough to leave a nice lasting fragrance which really freshens up the room. Although I do stop noticing the fragrance after a while if I go out and come back in I do notice that the scent is still there several hours later which is pretty impressive.
This also states that it can be used as a body spray and a linen spray, and whilst I don't use it as a body spray because the scent doesn't seem to linger on me, I often use I to freshen up my sofa and bed linen, and it works really well for this purpose, though personally I think Febreze is better!
All in all I think this is a great room spray with a lovely scent, I'm just not sure as would pay £7 for it!
I sometimes do a large order on the Body Shop website if they have particularly good deals on and, a few months ago, there was 40% off certain items (and free delivery) so I took the opportunity to buy a few bits. I love the Body Shop products as they are very good quality and smell so good, but I do not shop there regularly as they are a little bit more expensive than I can justify paying for everyday goods.
On my most recent order was this Pomegranate and Raspberry room spray. We were looking to sell our house and anything that could give us a little bit of an edge (and nice smelling rooms would do that!) was welcome. I can't use candles like I used to with a toddler in the house! This fragrance is also available a reed diffuser and scented candles so you can also double up for a stronger scent if you so wish.
The spray costs £6 for a 100ml bottle. The bottle feels a good quality and is made of quite a heavy duty glass - thick enough that you feel it won't necessarily smash if you drop it (although I wouldn't advise testing this!). It has a black plastic cap that can be removed to reveal the spray nozzle which can be gently compressed to give a fairly diverse spray of the scent. The instructions say spray once or twice in the centre of the room. I find this confusing as it doesn't say for which sized room this is appropriate and common sense says a downstairs toilet, for example, would/should! need less spraying than a bigger area like a kitchen or lounge. Immediately after spraying, the fruity scent is evident - more raspberry than pomegranate (not that I really know what one smells like) but very fuity and fresh. It is a sweet, pleasant aroma that definitely lifts the room. After spraying, I can usually smell this for about 20 mins to half an hour in the room - so great for applying just before you have company.
The spray is also a linen spray and I usually apply this to my curtains as a way of making the room smell fresh for longer - especially when the sunlight hits them. Initially, I was worried that this could lead to some discolouration so I tested a patch first. I have had no problems at all, so I now apply to curtains, sofas and bedspreads with complete confidence. It freshens things up really well. The spray can also be used as a body spray but I have not used for this purpose - it seems odd to me that a spray can be used on your body if designed for your linen/house and I certainly don't want to smell the same as my rooms! Still, I guess it's a money saver if you don't mind that!
Overall, I really recommend this spray (especially if you can pick it up a bit cheaper than the RRP) as it is so refreshing and does make your home smell lovely and welcoming.
For me the sense of smell is really important. I find that scent impacts on my mood, inspires me and triggers all kinds of things. I think that in part this has been influenced by working with people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. A lot of the work that I have done in this area is around sensory experiences, which of course includes smell. Before this I don't think I ever really thought too much about smell. I wore perfume, I used air fresheners if there was a particularly unpleasant smell and I always liked nice smelling bath stuff but I guess I never really thought about the pleasure that you can get just from scent. I think this is just one of many examples of what I've got out of working with people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. I always love going into the body shop and smelling all of their room sprays and I particularly like the pomegranate and raspberry room spray. So, when I moved into my last flat I decided to buy some. Fortunately when I got there there was a three for two offer and I bought two burning oils to go with it.
The reason I bought this spray was to give my flat a lovely scent. I had visions of me walking in after a hard day of sitting in café's, drinking coffee and writing reviews, and being greeted by the lovely scent of this product. Sadly, that was not to be.
When I initially spray this room spray the smell is lovely. I love pomegranate but can't say that I've ever noticed it having a very distinctive scent, certainly not one that I would think to put into a room spray. The smell is really sweet and fruity and when you smell straight from the bottle it is a little bit overpowering but generally I think this works quite well for room sprays because the strong scents tend to linger. That's not the case with this spray. I would spray perhaps ten times around one room and the initial smell was strong, but not in an unpleasant way. I expected it to fade to a more subtle scent and instead it just disappears entirely. Within five minutes you would never know that I had actually sprayed anything into the room.
So in terms of this being a room spray it scores very low. The scent disappears almost immediately.
I've never really used linen sprays before but decided that as this didn't work very well as a room spray I may as well use it for linen. Each night before I go to bed I spray it onto my pillows, my sheets and my duvet. I have to say that going to bed surrounded by this smell is absolutely heavenly. I think that when you're drifting off to sleep or when your eyes are closed your sense of smell tends to be heightened and I find myself really aware of this scent as I drift to sleep. It tends to over power all of the other scents in the room. I just find that it's a lovely way to fall asleep. I can't tell you exactly how long this scent lasts because obviously I'm sleeping shortly after it's been sprayed. I know that it's somewhere between one hour and eight hours! I woke up the other night an hour after the last time I looked at my watch, which was around the same time that I had sprayed the linen spray, and I could still smell the scent really strongly but when I wake up in the morning there's absolutely no trace of it at all.
I was really surprised to find that this product can be used on your body too. There are some things that work well multi-purpose but I'm not sure that this is one of them. Wanting my bedding and my flat to smell of this scent is one thing but wanting me to smell of it too? I think that's maybe going a bit overboard. I have so much perfume and body sprays anyway that I never considered using this as a body spray. However, about a week ago I was rushing out of the flat and realised that I had no perfume on, this was close to hand so I quickly spray a bit on my pulse points before rushing out.
I have to admit that it works reasonably well as a body spray. The scent seems much different when it's on my skin than it does when it's on my bedding. It's still recognisable as being the same scent but it's different somehow and even after spending the day sniffing my wrist wondering what was different I can't put my finger on it. I guess perhaps it's slightly more subtle. It lasts reasonably well for a body spray and I could smell it for a good couple of hours before it faded. However, while it works reasonably well as a body spray I don't intend to use it as one again.
I have mixed feelings for this product. As a room spray it's disappointing. The scent fades far too quickly. As a linen spray it's excellent and lasts long enough for me to drift off to sleep surrounded by it's lovely, fruity scent. It also works reasonably well as a body spray. I'm giving this product three out of five stars. If you call a product a room spray it should really work well as a room spray which is why it's lost marks from me. If this was a linen spray only then I would probably be giving this full marks because it smells wonderful and the smell lingers on my linen, exactly as it should.
