A few Christmases ago, a friend gave us this lovely metal heart tealight holder. She''''d been given one by her sister, loved it and knew that we would too.
The ivory coloured heart heart measures 18 x 20 cm and has a matching ivory metal chain and hook which is about 60 cms long. A pretty lattice design has been cut out on both sides of the metal to let the tealight shine through. The tealight sits in a small dish in the middle of the heart that is accessed by a small heart shaped hatch door on one side of the heart. The door has a little latch which is easy to open and close.
It looks pretty anyway but when the tealight is lit, it''''s absolutely gorgeous. It sends out such a pretty light.
You can use it inside or outside. My friend has hers hanging from a curtain pole in her dining room and it looks great. Ours is outside. We have a summer house that we use quite a bit – even in the winter we use it as a nice place to have a cup of coffee or after meal drink. The summer house is built with dark wood so the ivory heart really shows up well. The contrast is quite striking and with the light shining through it looks really lovely. I used to use an normal tealight but now I cheat and have a little electronic tealight which saves having to look for matches everytime I want to use it! Although the heart is sheltered from the elements, it is outside. It hasn''''t rusted at all and still looks the part. Perhaps it helps that it does have a vintage look about it as it still looks as good as when we first put it up.
It makes a great present. I''''ve gone to buy several hearts for other friends. It makes a great gift for an engagement, wedding, housewarming, anniversary, or come to think of it, any occasion! It''''s worth shopping around. I''''ve seen them on Amazon from 3.99 to 7.79 GBP. The best offer I’ve seen is 6 GBP for 2.
The tea light holder I am reviewing has a slightly different pattern on it to the one Dooyoo are showing in their picture.
We received this pretty hanging tea light holder as part of a wedding gift along with some lovely scented tea lights, my family know how much I love candles or anything that fragrances my home and thought this would be just the sort of thing I would like, they were not wrong I love it.
My hanging tea light holder is in the shape of a heart, it is rounded like a pillow so there's room inside for the tea light. Its approximately 20cm's long and is painted in an off white colour to give it a vintage look. The front of my tea light holder has little holes punched out of it that form a heat pattern. They go all around the edge in large and smaller holes, in the 2 rounded parts at the top of the heart are 2 little heart shaped holes punched out with smaller round holes outlining them. The centre of the heart has a small heart shaped hole outlined in 3 rows of holes each getting slightly bigger. This pattern is repeated on the back too.
The front of the tea light holder has a little heart shaped hinged door with a little latch to open and close it. This is where the tea light goes. The heart has a metal holder inside it to take a regular sized tea light which sites securely in the holder.
My tea light holder has a chain attached to the top centre of the heart so you can hang it up, the chain feels strong and measures approximately 50cm's, it is in the same off white colour as the heart and has a hook on the end of it.
Although the holders are designed for both indoor and outdoor use I have only used mine inside. I'm not sure how this would weather and as it was a wedding gift I don't want to risk anything happening to it so I have mine hanging in a window.
When the tea light is lit in the holder its really pretty, the light shines through all the little holes making it a very nice decoration. I could see how these would look lovely in the garden and am tempted to buy some for that purpose. You could have just one or several hanging around the garden and they would add a lovely atmosphere to an evening BBQ.
As I mentioned mine was a wedding gift but these hearts are widely available in garden centres and online shops such as Amazon. They cost approximately £5-10.00 depending on where you buy from but in my opinion they are worth the money.
They have a lovely vintage look to them and make a pretty window decoration even without the tea light lit inside it still looks really nice. These would make a lovely gift for any occasion and if hearts are not your thing they are available in a bird shape too.
I got this hanging tealight holder from a local independent garden and gift centre, and I love it. It's absolutely beautiful, the pictures don't even do it justice! I have mine hanging from the middle bracket of my curtain pole.
It is made from very sturdy metal and hangs from a strong chain with a nice big hook on the end (22" from top of hook to bail). The whole thing is a cream coloured heart (they were available in green when I bought this one) sized approximately 7" x 7", with lovely cut out details in circular and flower shapes. One side has a hinged heart shaped door which opens to reveal the tealight holder; this door is decorated by a single large flower cut out.
As I said, the metal is strong - it doesn't bend or move under your fingers when you push on it. The hook is wide, about 1.25", but can be widened by gently pulling it and similarly, the opening at the bottom of the hook can be made narrower to ensure it stays where you want it to! The hinge on the door is quite robust, the only bit I think could give you problems if you used it a lot is the latch on the door. It is easy to use, just lift it out its stay. But, when you want to close it again it needs a little shimmying to get it in line; I think over time time this would result in it coming loose as it doesn't sit completely flush against the main body when it's closed. This doesn't bother me though as I don't actually use this with a tealight, I use it for decoration only! It's lovely, it doesn't obscure the view out the window and it's not obtrusive in the room at all.
They can be used outside or inside. I think they would look stunning dotted around hanging from trees or the like if you were having a garden party/BBQ this summer. Pop some citronella tealights in them and hopefully you won't get inundated with bugs!
I paid £3.49 for mine which I though was very reasonable. I saw them hanging on their display and fell so in love with them, but I was expecting a bigger price tag. The place I got them from is beautiful but can be very pricey on their home decor/gifty things. When I saw £3.49 I almost bought the green one as well (wish I did, my hall is the exact shade of green!) I have always loved hanging things and these match the style of my room perfectly. Saying that I think they could blend in quite well with a lot of decor styles. For the price I paid, I got great value in my opinion. These are strong, gorgeous and as mentioned this style of thing is often more then £3.49 in my experience. Definitely recommend if this is your style and you have somewhere fabulous to hang it!
