I have a shop round the corner to me called Trade counter that sells everything from plants and plates to washing up liquid and bicycle pumps. I go there for almost everything, if you want it, they sell it. During my last move I needed some kind of boxes to pack all my belongings into, but die to the Health & Safety rules, you can't go into your local supermarket anymore and gather unwanted cardboard boxes as they have to be torn up because they are a fire hazard. Looking online even cardboard boxes will cost you a fortune. This was when I turned to Trade Counter for help. Outside they have many, many boxes of all shapes and colours, all plastic all waiting to be bought and taken home. Some have lids, some have wheels all of them have a purpose, to hold your things. There is a sticker on these boxes that states these are 32L but I don't know if you would actually try to hold 32L of liquid in these, why would you have that much spare liquid around? Anyway, I have numerous ones of these, blue ones, purple ones, pink ones with a lid that you can open each side separately. I can clear ones, longer ones which currently have all my summer clothes in. They go under beds easily and the lids that click on top hold all your items inside and protect them from dust etc. I have taken over the underneath of my daughters bed with these boxes, some have my cross stitch in, some have old memories and things from both of my children's childhood that I have to keep, their old school work etc. We have a huge lack of space in our house and these boxes are a godsend. We have a loft but I don't use it as we have no ladder long enough to reach, so we only have the actual house itself with no cupboard space. These boxes can stack on top of each other, they hold a great deal of stud and would be great for stacking things in your loft or even shed, as they would be protected from liquid/rain as well. They are not watertight so maybe not damp proof either. Due to being see through you don't have to open them to be able to see inside, I have some that are not clear and I have to rifle through them to see what I have stored away in them, much easier to see from the outside. These cost me £4.99 each and I happily pay that for the amount of storage they give you.
I am currently slap bang in the middle of moving flats and as you can imagine trying to sort all the stuff out that I like other people accumulate has become a bit of a pain in the neck. When I moved into this flat I was so unorganised it was unreal and right mess but this time I am determined to not only chuck as much as possible with the plan being keep it if I love it/use it but I am constantly buying various boxes to try help organise me. At the minute I am trying to clear my bedroom and theres loads in there I want to keep so for the time being I have bought a few storage boxes. Now the ones I have are nothing like the ones on the photograph at the top of this page though the description and the name of them is correct and I bought three of these to pop under my bed for the time being with the plan that I can shove them in a van I am hiring as they are and they cost me just a fiver each (Google if interested). The Boxes: Like the other reviewer on here mentioned these do not come in any kind of packaging mine just had sticky labels on that peeled off telling me what they are and the capacity that they can hold and so on. To look at the boxes I have are very simple. The base is frosted white plastic and box shaped but you can still see through it, the wheels on mine are a dark red shade and this was the only colour option I had to choose from at the time but I understand they come in a variety of colour options and the lid is dark red and it simply snaps on and off and is folding so you can lift one side up at a time if you want to or remove the whole thing. It looks nice and you can if you want to stack these though not too many I would think as these are not all that strong! The pros with this are that the wheels are great its easy to pull these from under my bed and shove them back again easily. The lids are great too being able to open a section at a time or take the whole thing off and I like being able to peer through the plastic to see whats in each box although I have personally took the time to label mine. There is plenty of room in them as well and I can shove plenty in each however the con is that these are not badly made but that they are not that sturdy and strong so I find that I'm best off using these for lightweight items such as bedding and clothes and stuff like that in the main. Saying that though they serve their purpose well in my home though how they will fair in a van... well I'm not so sure but to be fair they are only marketed as under bed storage boxes and they do that very well for me, are wipe clean and look rather nice to. For a fiver each I got a bargain and will when I see some more of them buy some more to shove on top of my wardrobe and label them too so all in all they are a product I would recommend and do appreciate!
*Note: I suggested this product but I don't know where they got the photo from - it's nothing like the boxes I've got. They're long, not very tall and white coloured with lids that bend in the middle.* I don't know about everyone else, but I always seem to accumulate lots of belongings that I then can't find anywhere to put. In an effort to keep things looking tidy I've been investing in storage boxes and I purchased these ones as, although they weren't the cheapest, they would fit under my bed. I purchased these from Argos (don't know if you can buy them elsewhere) and they don't come in any form of packaging - they just have the lids taped inside, which prevents any waste. These aren't the best made storage boxes - the plastic is very thin and quite flimsy, but still strong enough to hold most things you could want to put in them (I use one for storing photos and the other for penpalling letters). My biggest issue with them is that the lids seem a very poor fit - they are hinged in the middle so you can open them at either end, which is a good idea, but they seem to just lay on top of the box rather than fit securely on it. On the plus side these are quuite short so they should fit under most beds with no problems - the measurements in cm are approximately 18x57x40 and the clear plastic allows you to see the contents easily, so you shouldn't have to go rummaging to try and find something you think you may have put in there. They also come on wheels so you can easily slide them in and out from under the bed. Price wise I think these cost me £12.99 for two (it was a few months ago now, I can't remember), although they are now no longer being displayed on the Argos website - instead they have a larger 50ltr version which costs £19.99 for 2. Overall I would potentially recommend these (or indeed the larger version) storage boxes - but only if you need ones with limited height, as they are useful for this purpose however there are other cheaper, taller storage boxes out there that are better quality.
