I've had my Ikea shower curtain for over two years now, and I'm hoping it will last many more, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't!
Ikea have a wide range of shower curtains available online and in their stores. The selection is constantly changing with each new season/collection but what they usually have plenty of bright colours and fun, bold patterns to choose from. It should be easy to find one you like and that complements your bathroom. Mine has wide stripes in shades of brown and turquoise, which doesn't sound very nice, but it does work!
Ikea shower curtains come with an extendable plastic pole that you wedge against the walls in your bathroom to hang the curtain from, they also come with the right amount of plastic curtain hooks. The pole and hooks seem a bit cheap and nasty when you first get them out of the pack, I wasn't sure that the pole would last or if it would be too flimsy and would keep falling down, slipping etc. In fact, it hasn't been a problem. It was really easy to set the pole up so that it felt secure and it hasn't budged an inch. The hooks have been more than adequate too.
Ikea shower curtains are machine washable, it couldn't be easier to keep them clean and fresh. You just unhook the curtain which takes about 10 seconds, and shove it in an ordinary 40 degree wash. Mine always comes out looking like a new one, no shrinking, no fading.
I'd say I'd happily buy another Ikea shower curtain, but I suspect the one I have will prpbably live as long as I do o I might never need to! Not bad for a tenner!
I always buy Ikea shower curtains as they are really reasonably priced. I always change my shower curtain every 12 months, and so getting them from Ikea means I don't have to worry about the cost. I change the shower curtain every 12 months as I have a bit of a clean freak obsession, but this also enables me to change the look of the bathroom a bit each time too.
The shower curtains at Ikea range from just £3.99 up to just £15.99. The ones from £9.99 and upwards are the machine washable ones, the cheaper ones are not machine washable. I always buy the machine washable ones, as my shower curtain always goes in the washer once a month - see my hygene ocd coming out again here!
I currently have the Ikea Uddgrund shower curtain, and this was just £9.99. The uddgrund shower curtain is opaque white, with large black circles all over. It is machine washable, mine goes in the washer once a month and it comes up as good as new each time. I just hang it back up on the curtain rings on the shower rail, and it is dry within an hour. It is made of polyester, with some sort of a water repellant coating, it is slightly weighted at the bottom so that it doesn't cling to you when you are in the shower.
All of the shower curtains at Ikea are the same size, 180cm x 180cm, this is plenty big enough for either a shower stall or a shower over a bath, and it will pull closed right across the bath. They all have the holes in the top to attach them to the shower curtain rings.
I've been very happy with every shower curtain that I've bought from Ikea, they would certainly last much longer than just the 12 months that I keep them for.
I needed to buy a new bed so my son in law drove me to have a look in Ikea. They didn't have a bed I liked so much as one I'd seen on the Bensons website but I felt like I had to buy something because he had driven a long way for me.
I needed a shower curtain though as I had my bathroom painted lilac and only had a dark green curtain that looked odd. When we walked through the bathroom section of the Ikea I saw they had a very good selection of shower curtains and they were well priced similar to the small range in Argos. I like dolphins and saw a nice purple shower curtain with dolphins swimming on it that I knew would look nice in my new bathroom. It was priced up at £10 which is cheaper than the one with clouds I had been looking at on the other shelf.
I could have had a plain curtain, one with flowers on it, one with frogs or a choice of about 15 other designs.
I brought it and went home for my son in law to fix it up for me. The measuremtns were not 100 % accurate because I had measured for my new curtain and the packet said this curtain was the same as i needed but the drop wasn't quite the size Ikea said it would be. It still fits alright but I would have preferred it a little longer because I use a shower chair and pull this shower curtain out of place every time I swing myself out of the bath.
I am pleased with my new shower curtain. It came in a flat plastic bag and when i unpacked it I found that the creases shook out easy and it looked nice on my brass shower rail. It is quite thick and repels the water very well and I have no wet patches on my new carpet. I like it because it wipes more easily than my old shower curtain and still looks brand new after 5 months.
