“ Brand: Dunelm / Type: Doormat „
Over the past year, I really think I should have had shares in Dunelm, given how much I have bought! One such item that I bought during the year was this Dunelm Welcome Coir Mat which is priced at £4.99 as I wanted to get little bits and pieces for our home to make it warmer and more homely looking. Seeing this mat at that price meant it didn't take much persuasion for me to purchase it for outside our front door.
Since we don't have a porch at our house, the front door simply leads into the hall, I like to have a few mats for people to wipe feet to avoid a lot of clean up in the house. Up until this year, I had only ever had mats inside the front door, but I thought it might be a good idea to have it outside the front door, so feet could be wiped just outside as well, and I loved the fact that it said 'welcome' on it, making it feel very homely, which was the look I was going for!
THis mat is made of coir, and should ony be handbrushed if you want to clean it. THis mat is approximately 70cm by 40cm, so is ideal for most doors. The back of the mat is rubber to help it stay in place, especially if you had it in a porch and I find even outside the door, this mat does stay in place without too much hassle, even with my little girl coming in and out. The hard wearing bristles tend to hide the dirt that comes off shoes as well, and sometimes it is enough simply to shake the mat to get rid of any dirt. I also find it great for children, for my own little girl or when her cousins or friends children come, as children are often the prime candidate for muddy, dirty feet.
Since getting this mat, I have had a lot of positive comments from guests who think it looks lovely and welcoming outside the front door. Also, since getting this mat, I feel it has helped keep my hall cleaner as there is less mess and dirt coming through the door as much of it has been left on this mat outside.
All in all, I think for the price, this is a brilliant hard wearing mat that is ideal for the front door or inside a porch to keep floors clean. The mat is a nice colour and feels very homely and looks the part. I would happily recommend this to anyone looking for cheap way to make your home more welcoming.
I live in a first floor flat and I got really fed up with peoples foot prints up my stairs to which have a light carpet so this, I invested in when I spotted it in Dunhelm costing £4.99 and after having a good feel around it decided that it was probably good value for my money.
This mat only comes in one colour option and that is a light brown so its quite neutral and measures 40cm x 60cm (16" x 24") and once again this only comes in one size but this size is of a good size and its quite square in shape. Being made of medium coir pile although it looks like carpet it is rather water resistant and has a tough black rubber backing to stop it from moving about and it really is very strong and very durable indeed no matter how heavy someone is or how much they stomp on it.
The word 'Welcome' is adorned neatly on the front of it in large black capital lettering and this isn't an edged mat which at first I was slightly worried it would fray but it doesn't.
If it gets wet, it dries out, if it gets dirty just give it a shake but its never going to keep its light brown colour for long as it really is very light in shade!
This though is a nice, safe, foot wiping mat that looks pleasant but is really safe. I am not the steadiest person on my feet at the best of times and really do need it to stay put (especially as sometimes I need a walking stick to aid my mobility) and this really does that very well indeed. It's nice, thick and very, very durable and for £4.99 is a really nice little buy and my stair carpet doesn't look so grubby now!
