Like the sight of fish floating about in your house but keep killing them? Or maybe just want some interesting mood lighting? Well take a look at this, fish you can't kill (they are plastic) that bubble about in a tube of colour changing water. This is a pretty cool idea, the light itself is a tall clear plastic tube which is about 1.2m high and 32cm in diameter, it sits in a plastic stand and is powered by mains electricity. The power adaptor plugs into the bottom of the base unit and has a flexable cable about 2m long. You need to fill the light with water which needs to be changed every 3 days or so to stop any algae growing (I have left it for over a week and its been fine, but I am up in scotland which has nice soft water) I have also read other customer reviews which suggest using deionised water, but that could get a bit pricey.... When you turn the unit on the bubbles start and the light changes colour every few seconds. The fish and jellyfish float up and down happily and the whole thing looks really cool, especially in the dark. I don't have any myself but I think this would be loved by young children. Only slight worry would be that it could be easily tipped over and the lid on top is not water tight so could cause a bit of a flood if it gets knocked down... The only downside with the light is the noise that it makes when it is on, unfortunately it is a really quite a loud buzzing sound which really really lets it down, I can't just leave it bubbling away in the corner of the room because the noise is quite off putting. Maybe its a fault I'm not sure, but other reviews I have read have commented on the noise so I'm thinking it's not a fault. If it wasn't for the noise this light would be ideal, however maybe my hearing is just a bit sensitive and the buzzing would not offend other people as much as it does me, if you really fancy getting one then its worth giving it a go.
