Stops food from drying out in the microwave

I love buying things out of the betterware catalogue as they are usually really good products and usually work really well at doing what they say they are going to plus my cousin is an agent for them and I always feel guilted in to buying something occasionally.

The microwave plate is one of my better buys from the catalogue as it is something which I use a lot. The microwave plate looks really simple and in reality it is but it does exactly what it is supposed to do which is to stop food from drying out in the microwave.

It resembles a plastic dome and you just place this over your plate of food that you are cooking/reheating in the microwave and it stops loads of steam escaping the food stopping it from drying out. It really is an ingenious product and it works really well with everything that I have tried it with so far. One of the best things I use it on is Sunday dinner. Whenever I am holding a Sunday dinner for all the family there is always someone who is late and their dinner used to go almost inedible in the over and dry and tastless if microwaved. This really does make a difference in the taste of it when reheated especially with the roast potatoes and the meat.

It doesn't make food go soggy either which is something I was initially worried about because of the steam being trapped.
It is also just good for spotting food from splattering all over the microwave when it is being cooked making a mess. It fits over my plates perfectly and I assume that even with smaller or larger plates there will be no problem as it can either go directly over the plate or else sit on the edges of the plate if it is slightly larger than normal.

It is really easy to keep clean and I have washed it both in the sink and in the dishwasher with no problems. It has slightly stained with tomato juice from beans but this is a problem I find with all plastic microwave products including the my plastic microwave pots which weren't even supposed to stain.

Overall I think this is a really good product and one that I would highly recommend to people looking for something to stop their food from drying out in the microwave. I am sure that I only paid £3.99 for this but according to the betterware website the price has been put up to £4.99 which is still a good price.

Fab thing for heating up food

When I was growing up I spent a lot of time at my nan and grandads house. Every time my nan heated up a meal she always used covers like these on top. When my daughter was little I would cook my meal when I cooked hers, but I left my meal until later as she ate quite early. Browsing through the Betterware catalogue I seen these and knew they would be perfect for me.

These microwave plate covers come in a pack of two for £4.99. The good thing with Betterware is that you don't have to leave the comfort of your own home to buy anything from there.

Each plate cover is roughly 25cm wide, this is perfect for my plates and the covers sit right around the edge of my dinner plates. It is quite high at around 5cm tall so that if you have a mountain of food (obviously I don't... Unless it's roast!) they can still fit on top of your plate in the microwave. The top of each cover has two dents and the middle of the dents act as a handle so they are easy to put on and off your plate.

These covers are easy to use, if you want to heat up a meal simply place the plate cover on top of the plate, put it into the microwave, zap it, remove the cover and that's it, hot food. I've found that after using the plate covers they do hold on to some of the moisture and as soon as I've taken it off, it does drip a little.

After using the covers I've definitely noticed a difference in the quality of the reheated food. Before using these food would come out dry and taste quite bland. These microwave plate covers leave food tasting just how it should have tasted, nice and moist.

Another good thing about the covers in that they stop the food from spitting all around the inside of the microwave, meaning it doesn't need to be cleaned as often. The plate covers are also easy to clean, I simply put them in hot soapy water with my normal washing up, I would imagine they are dishwasher safe too.

I'd definitely recommend these microwave plate covers, they help keep meals tasty and moist, and stop the microwave from getting so dirty. A fiver isn't a lot to pay for nice tasting reheated food.
