The Travel Lodge Eastleigh is located approximately 5 miles from Southampton town centre, it is on the A335 which is just off the main route in to Southampton the M3/27. It has easy access to Southampton Airport and the Docks. It is quite a small Travel Lodge and only has two floors with x amount of rooms, we were lucky enough to arrive at 3pm, check in time and ask for a room on the end, which we got on the ground floor, I was quite annoyed the next morning when the kids upstairs started running around about 6am. But then that is hotels for you. The car park is off road and holds 32 cars, it shares the car park with the on-site restaurant which is a Harvester. It is quite a big Harvester and falls typically in to what every Harvester looks like and serves. The service was good I must admit. The Address: Ham Farm Twyford Road Eastleigh Hampshire SO50 4LF Travel Lodges aren't 5 star accommodation so for those people who stay in them and moan, don't stay there! It is what it is, and that is cheap, basic and usually clean. Don't get me wrong, if the sheets are dirty and the room is a mess, I wouldn't pay anything to stay there and would complain, but the facilities are basic and you get what you pay for. We use Travel Lodges as a 1 night option, I wouldn't choose to have my 2 week summer holiday in one, but the fact there are now so many and you can pick a room up in advance for £18 is great. We paid £29 for this room and whilst is was traditionally Travel Lodge and basic, the sheets were clean, the room fairly spacious, the bathroom clean and the TV worked, it suited us just fine. All Travel Lodge rooms lack character and once in one, you could be anywhere in the country. This was on a quiet road and fairly small, located just outside Southampton it was perfect for a night before an early Ferry across to the Isle of Wight. We left early and didn't hang around but the staff we did encounter were very friendly and helpful. I don't mind there is no option for breakfast as I said we usually get up and go from these hotels and if my other half decided to take me a way for a romantic weekend and we ended up in a Travel Lodge I perhaps wouldn't be impressed but this is a means to an end. The Southampton Eastleigh Travel Lodge is well located (if you have a car - it is way too far and not advisable to think you can walk to Southampton from here, especially not on the M3 or M27), and has nice beds, not the most comfortable but then I wasn't expecting an orthopedic mattress. Room prices range from £18-£60 depending on how far in advance you book and what day of the week it is. I wouldn't pay more than £30 personally but then Bed and Breakfasts seem just as expensive if not more. At least you know what you get with a Travel Lodge.
