Thanks to my mother me and the wife had the opportunity to book a night away. We have stayed in many travel lodges' including this one Travel Lodge - Perth - Broxden Roundabout - PH2 0PL Booking the hotel I was very fortunate to be able to book 7 weeks in advance which allowed me to take advantage of the £19.00 per room per night. I logged in to my account online and booked/paid for the room on my debit card. Like you do with any Travelodge booking I received a confirmation email. As it was a saver price it was non refundable if I was to cancel it. Surf along too www.travelodge.co.uk and search the latest prices, A quick price summary £29.00 - £59.00 per room if you book within 7 days £19.00 if you book at least 21 days in advance For my £19.00 I was booked in to a family room non smoking, online it advised me that it had enough room for 4adults, and as one would expect it had an ensuite. Getting to Broxden roundabout From Edinburgh - Head over the forth road bridge and continue north on the M90 - Until you reach Broxden Roundabout - Take the 3rd exit in to the Broxden Avenue and arrive at your destination. Travel time for Edinburgh City Centre (Traffic Pending) approximately 1hour (45miles). From Glasgow - M8 East bound until Junction 13 - At roundabout take 1st exit on to A80- Follow on A80 then on too M80 - then staying in the right hand lane continue on to the M9 - Next r/about take the 2nd exit on to A93 - Then 3rd exit on that R/about on to Broxden avenue - Travel time is approximately 1hr and 20minutes and distance is approximately 60miles By bus from either Edinburgh or Glasgow is also a option - City Link provide a excellent service between Edinburgh and Broxden which takes 1hr and 35mins at a cost of £8.50 per adult single. More information on the times and cost involved can be found at http://www.citylinkonlinesales.co.uk/CitylinkWeb As I chose to drive to Perth I was able to park my car in the rather spacious car park which is also free, from what information is available they have over 80 spaces available, within the car park they have fixed seats and tables for the guests to use in the summer. The car park is clean and when we arrived it was nowhere near full. There are plenty of bins dotted around the car park. This particular car park does have CCTV fitted however Travelodge do have a warning up saying car driver's park here at own risk. Arrival So far so good we can say, hopefully the rest of the hotel is like the car park. Walking in to reception, we were immediately able to smell that the hotel had just been cleaned. The foyer area was bright and very clean. A member of staff with company uniform at the desk was ready to take our details. After giving surname and providing our car registration number we were told that we are in room XX the reception staff then pointed us in the direction. You enter the sleeping quarters from the door positioned directly next to the reception area. All hall areas are well maintained, clean and fresh. All carpets had recently been hovered and where free from any debris. In the reception are you have many notice boards which have endless supply of relevant information for the visitors providing excellent literature of local places of interest and places to visit. Also a nice seated area with a coffee machine (fees applicable). Just like many of the Travelodge hotels you are able to ask staff to provide you with a breakfast at a cost of £4.50(10% discount if booked online) you can have a cup of tea, Cereal, Cereal Bar, and a natural fruit smoothie Check in at this hotel is from 15.00hrs however you can book a early check in which will cost an additional £10. Departing After getting ready we just made our way down to reception and handed the key over to the staff who asked if all was ok. Hassel free departure. Travelodge request that all guests depart there room by 12.00hrs - or take advantage of late check out for £10.00 and have your room until 15.00hrs. Please note that Broxden Perth does have a room available for you to store your luggage until you bus/taxi arrives. The room Opening the door with the standard credit card style key we were surprised to not have the usual stench that we have had in the past from Travelodge rooms. Soon as we walked in the bathroom was directly in front of us and what is the first Mrs P does, yeah you guessed she goes right in and checks the cleanliness. Thankfully Mrs P is happy with the bathroom, the mirror was very clean, toilet smelt fresh, shower tray and curtain where spotless and we could not fault the cleaning staff. We had the usual king-size bed which had the usual 2 pillows on it, but from experience there are always spare ones in the cupboard. Thankfully this was the case and we soon had 4 pillows on the bed. The sheets and bed where all clean and looked like they had just been made up. As we had the family room we had a sofa bed and another pull out bed underneath that. The room provided us with excellent storage facilities, we had three drawers inside the double wardrobe, each bedside cabinet had its own drawer and within the main wardrobe they had 13 hangers. Standard 21inch television set which provides us with the basic channels, including BBC 1, BBC 2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. You could if you wished pay for additional channels, these are very expensive and I would not recommend paying for them. Like many of the rooms on offer at Travelodge sites you can have Wi-Fi - This is not free and in my own opinion its very expensive in comparison to other ISP's. Bedtime Being positioned right next to a very busy roundabout I was exceptionally concerned about the level of noise that would present from the traffic. Well that did not need to concern me at all, once we had got ourselves tuck up in the nice comfortable king size bed we lay there listening for traffic and we could not hear a thing. I was amazed to say the least. That was until 5am when we heard the first of many emergency services screaming past the hotel. But there again I can never get away from work. In many other hotels I have always heard other guests returning to their rooms, I can say that I never heard a soul all night. One thing that did annoy me ever so slightly was the temperature of the room, it was very warm with very little in the way of air. Obviously we could open the window but there again we would have been awake all night with the noise; I guess I can't have it all ways. Additional Comments This hotel is suitable for disabled or less mobile individuals, there are at least 6 parking spaces specially reserved for them. The hotel has wide enough doors to allow wheelchair users through and there are rooms available on the same level. I would suggest if you need a lower level bedroom you make them aware at time of booking. Directly opposite the Travelodge is Brewster's Restaurant which was ideal, very nice in size and very clean. There is also petrol station which is open 24hrs. Perth city centre is only a short drive away which hosts many lovely restaurants, shops and bars. Nearest supermarket is Tesco in Perth Nearest ATM (free) is either at Tesco or in the main street Perth Wifi Cost's 60 Minutes = £5.00 24hrs = £10.00 7days = £20.00 One month wifi costs - £30.00 **For your information there are several internet cafes in Perth which will cost a fraction of these prices. Final Thoughts I have stayed in Broxden Travelodge on two separate occasions and I can say that I have always been delighted with the room I have been given, always very clean and the staff are always very professional, helpful and are always willing to assist any guests. I would continue to recommend this hotel to friends and family as a clean, modern hotel that provides an excellent service.
