a highly recommended, cost effective hotel

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in the summer as we were going to a friends' wedding just outside Havant. We booked our room via LateRooms at a cost of £59.00 for a twin room (there were not any doubles left ) on a bed and breakfast basis which is about what I hoped to pay . When we received our confirmation email from Late Rooms we noted that the check in time was 2pm. As we were going to be travelling some distance and the wedding would be taking place at 2:30 we immediately rang the hotel to request an early check in. We were delighted wcleahen we were told that that would be no problem and forgot about our booking until we actually needed to go to the wedding a couple of months later. The hotel itself is in the middle of Havant town centre , which itself is not particularly big so you can easily see the pedestrian entrance. Where to park was not immediately obvious but by process of elimination we worked out that we needed to come off one of the back streets. The carpark itself was a nice size and in very close proximity to the hotel. Reception is easy to find and was quick and efficient. We made our way upstairs to our room up a few stairs. The room itself was nice and clean and a decent size with a TV, dressing table, tea and coffee making facilities and a small but clean en-suite bathroom with a loo, sink, and bath/shower. One thing that I really liked about the room was that it had a full-length mirror, essential getting ready for a wedding! We then did not return to the hotel until after the wedding which was near enough midnight. What I particularly liked was that the bar was still up for quite a while, although exclusively for hotel guests. It was nice to have this. The bar/restaurant area was quite substantial and nice with a good typical selection of drinks available at an average price. There was also a nice outdoor/smoking courtyard. These areas appeared to be set a bit away from the rooms so we were not too worried about disturbing other residents. Breakfast was served between 8am and noon. Ours was perfectly nice, with a continental breakfast available as well as waitress service for cooked breakfasts. Despite it being quite busy when we surfaced , there was still plenty of room for people to sit and enjoy their breakfasts. Check-out was also smooth. In conclusion, although we had to stay as a necessity, I think that it was a really good hotel. The staff were incredibly helpful when needed and the beds comfortable and the rooms pleasant. I suppose one slight criticism that I might have was that the décor was a bit dated perhaps and the whole place could do with a bit of a stylistic sprucing up, but without a doubt I would not be disappointed if I had to stay there again.
