My Husband and I stayed at this Ramada Jarvis hotel, just before Christmas as we were going to a party in Maidstone and didn't want to travel home after. This is my experience ....
The booking - I booked on the official Ramada Jarvis hotel website, they had several deals available including combined room and Leeds castle entrance, weekend breakaways and mid week offers. As we only wanted a room for one night none of the deals were applicable although I felt that the Bead and Breakfast rate of £70 per night the week before Christmas was very reasonable.
Once I had booked, I received a confirmation email immediately.
The arrival - The hotel is set right next door to the stunning Leeds castle which is very well sign posted and easy to find.
There is a large car park which is free for hotel guests and despite us arriving at seven o'clock on a Saturday evening we parked with ease.
As soon as you walk in you a facing the check in desk, we were greeted by two very friendly ladies.
The check in process was pretty standard, we were given a little Ramada Jarvis guide book with details of breakfast times and additional services like dry cleaning.
The room - The room was a typical hotel room, it had a double bed, desk, wardrobe and bedside cabinet. There was a large full length mirror and a smaller mirror above the desk.
There was a flat screen T.V on the desk, this had all the channels as well as the option to buy movies etc.
Tea and coffee facilities were provided with the nicest hot chocolate I have ever had, I can't remember the name of it but it was scrummy. The bathroom had a bath with shower and a toilet and sink. It had a large mirror with daylight lighting which was handy for doing make up. Towels, shampoo and shower gel were provided.
The color theme for the whole room was white and red/orange.
It was well maintained, clean and smelt fresh. There was no damaged furniture, burn marks or stains.
The room was very quiet, despite a wedding in full flow below us and several party groups on our floor.
The breakfast - The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, there was a huge range of hot cooked foods like sausages, bacon, eggs and beans. There was also a good selection of cereal, fruit, yoghurt and pastries. It was a self serve breakfast but waiters and waitresses brought around tea, coffee and toast. Fruit juices and water were available from a self serve machine.
The breakfast room was spacious and well laid out so you didn't feel like you were sitting on other peoples tables and could talk in a normal voice (not that hushed voice usually required at hotel breakfasts to avoid everyone knowing your ins and outs).
Check out - This was so simple as we didn't have any extra services we just popped the room card in a little post box and off we went.
Hotel facilities - There is a heated swimming pool and a bar but I can't comment on these as I didn't use them. There is a large lobby area with newspapers and sofas, ideal if you are meeting someone or waiting for transport.
I know most of this hotels business comes from the conference and meetings side of things, it has the largest conference room in Kent providing room for up to 650 delegates. Again I can't comment on these facilities as we did not use them.
As the hotel is right next door to Leeds castle, it would be an ideal choice for a family break or romantic get away. It is perfectly located for exploring the beautiful garden of England.
