This hotel is in a fab loaction, literally a minutes walk from the train station, right by the shopping centre and only a couple of minutes walk to the nearest pub!
My boyfriend and I stayed here recently just for one night and liked it very much. It wasn't cheap but as it was just a one-off treat we didn't mind paying that bit extra.
The decor throughout has a lovely 1940s type feel to it, is very well maintained and is generally of a very high standard. The bar is a lovely place, fairly big with plenty of seating, low lighting, chandeliers, a well stocked bar, low background music and again that nice 1940s feel to it, as if it is something out of a film! The bar prices aren't cheap but what else would you expect from a city centre hotel bar?!
The room we had was a double deluxe and was pretty big with a lovely bathroom, fluffy bathrobes, heated towel rail, nice bath products, tea & coffee making facilities, a tv, plenty of wardrobe space and mirrors and a good view of city square.
The bed was very comfortable, although there was s light glitch - to cut a long story short, when we checked into the room it was twin beds, not a double, once we'd spoken to reception they instantly sent someone up to put the beds together and remake them as one, with double / king size bedding. Not entirely ideal we thought but actually it was very comfortable and if we'd not seen them do it we'd never have known they were two seperate beds (there was no falling down the middle or anything like that!).
Still, we did complain about this when they emailed us a feedback questionairre - we'd paid £120 for the room, not including breakfast, so we'd expected it to be perfect - and we were glad we did as they have now offered us a complimentary stay by way of an apology!
