We booked a two night break at The Hilton, Leicester which cost around sixty pounds per person for two nights B & B and dinner on the first night. Excellent value for a hotel of this kind. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the en suite facilities were adequate, but the bath was a little high and as the shower was over the bath, I can imagine young children or the elderly/disabled might have problems stepping into them. The room tray was well stocked with tea, coffee etc, and we had adequate supplies of everything - rather unusual these days as most hotels only seem to supply enough for one drink! The buffet breakfast was served in the large dining room and there was an excellent choice of foods - from continental style with cooked meats, cheese, fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants, etc to the full english breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, etc etc. Fill up on a good breakfast here and you will not be hungry for hours! The evening meal on the first night was of high quality and there was a good choice of dishes. Service was excellent throughout our stay, as we arrived on a busy Friday evening and queues were beginning to form at the check in we were given a complimentary glass of wine whilst we waited. On the Saturday there was a wedding which meant the hotel was very crowded with guests. Many of them were children and even late at night some of them could be heard running along the corridors, yelling and shouting. Then the parents followed yelling at them to be quiet! Also, the evening wedding disco music could be heard into the early hours. Not ideal if you were there for a relaxing weekend! The Hotel has a leisure suite with a fairly small pool but also jacuzzi, steam room etc. Again as the hotel was full, this tended to be busy. The Hotel is well situated for access to the motorway network, but roadworks in the area made it a little awkward to get around at busy times. I did not agree with the charge imposed on guests parking their cars in the hotel car park - at five pounds a night I thought this was somewhat unfair on guests who were staying there. But all in all, the two night break was excellent value for money. But if you want a quiet weekend it might be best to check before booking that they have no functions on during your stay.
