      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Set in a lovely area with really lovely staff!

We had to find somewhere to stay while transfering my youngest sons things to University, so we thought we would stop at this particular Travelodge as it was the nearest for us to his digs.

Now most of the Travelodges we have stayed in have been next to a garage with usually a Little Chef or Burger King outlet. This particular one was sitting pretty amongst the greenery of the lovely countryside of Yorkshire. It was also on the Moto Service Area, which had a big car park with a M & S food hall, WH Smiths,Burger King and Costa's.

So we were set up alright for grabbing something to eat and drink as we had been on the road for about four hours in a rather large Transit van ( How much does a 19 year old have to take to Uni!!).Now with all the Travelodges you cannot get into your room until after 3pm unless you want to pay £10 when booking your room which allows you to get into your room earlier at 12pm. We didn't bother with this as we knew we would probably arrive around the 3pm anyway.

The one we chose to stop at for that night was the Southbound one as it would be in the right direction for coming home. What we didn't know was that the Northbound was very easily accessable as each Travelodge had a private side road that went over the M1 and back down to the other side so in a matter of seconds you could be on either side. As on other occassions when stopping at one of these you have to drive for miles if you happen to be on the wrong side before you can get back onto the road you want.

Now this Travelodge fitted into the same boxes as all the others with the usual drab, but clean decor, tea/coffee making facilities, small TV, long mirror on wall, Sofa/bed which we needed that night as son was staying with us before he checked into his Uni Digs the next day. The usual vendering machine at the entrance and piles of leaflets of different attractions for that particular area. Why do I always have the urge to flick through and always manage to pick a couple out to read in my room, knowing dam well that there is no way I'll be able to fit in any time to go anywhere!!

The one difference I can say about this Traveldoge is that the staff were really lovely and so friendly, while checking in I got talking to the receptionist that was on that day and it turned out that she went to Huddersfield University as a mature student part time and she chatted for ages putting my mind at rest with a few things that were bothering me!

All of the staff were very pleasant, the cleaners in the morning would wish you a really cheery "Morning" as you went past them as they got on with their jobs. I'm not saying that in the other Travelodges they are all grumpy, for from it most have been pleasant, but some can hardly give you the time of day!!

We ended up booking another night as we were tired from all the lugging of sons old bedroom to his new one up a flight of stairs!!

This time we stayed in the Northbound one, as this was about £10 cheaper for that night than the Southbound, as it was so easy to get from one side to the other it really didn't matter which side we stopped. Also having M & S on the first night in the Southbound was a real bonus as we could buy anything from there right up to midnight I believe. So piled up with sandwiches, chicken pasta pots and cous cous we all bundled into the room to watch the final Big Bro and get an early night ready for the big removals the next day!!!
