Premiere Inn Dumfries
I stayed in this Premiere Inn the night before my wedding, as it was handy to get to the castle I was getting married in the next day.
When checking I found the process very easy however some of my family members had problems, as they had not booked the room themselves.
The staff did sort it out and seemed pleasant enough. Thankfully I had no problems at all. The staff on the main reception would have helped you with any queries you had.
The hotel looked very fresh and immaculate I think it had recently been refurbished so everything was bright and vibrant.
The room was very modern, clean and not cluttered. The décor was nice mostly while and dark purple. There was a lovely canvas above the bed of what looked like round purple trees.
It was very large and you had lots of space, which was fantastic for me, as I had to get bring things for my wedding so I could get ready the next morning.
The beds were very comfortable the mattresses were lovely and firm but not too firm. The beds had crisp white sheets. Blankets as well as a duvet were provided if you needed them.
In the room they provided you with a hairdryer and you also had a television. There was lots of space you could have stored your clothes in the wardrobe. There also was a desk that had a mirror in front of it so you could get ready with ease.
For the room it cost £74 per night plus you got breakfast included in that price. That was for 2 people sharing however at the minute Premiere Inn hotels are doing a deal that if you book so many days in advance you get the room for £29 per night.
My biggest compliant about this place was the restaurant beside it. This is where you got your meals and breakfast in the morning. If you wanted to have a drink there was also a bar here.
I had ordered breakfast and as I had said before I was getting married the next day. So the day I was getting married I was supposed to have breakfast in this place. I was up early for my breakfast but I had to go to the hairdresser to get my hair done so I only had about 40minutes to get my breakfast.
I explained this to the staff and they told me that a cooked breakfast would be over half and hour and they couldn't rush it for me (it was first come first serve).
I thought that it was ridiculous as I had already paid for my breakfast and I didn't think I was being unreasonable in getting what I had paid for. The staff in the restaurant was rude to me and I had no other choice in to do without.
I lost my money as I had paid for a full breakfast and I never got it. It really was hassle on my wedding day that I could have done without to be honest.
Another problem was the night before my family had gone to the restaurant for food and it took ages for it to come. We had pre-booked the table and had waited about 1hour and 45 minutes before we got our food.
When it came I had sausages and mash which was the smallest portion I had ever had. I was left that I was still hungry after I had eaten it.
Two of our party had got monkfish and it was cold and still raw which was a disgrace. In the end they could not eat it and did not have to pay for it but got no substitute for their meal. It was too late to go anywhere else.
The staff in the restaurant wasn't helpful I had asked for 2 extra knives and forks, as they had not set the places (even though we had told them the correct number when we pre-booked the table). I had them threw at me in a temper instead of setting them on the table.
I definitely would not recommend eating in this restaurant. Not for a meal and not for breakfast either.
Overall the actual hotel was lovely and I would stay in it again however I would avoid the restaurant at all costs. They gave me hassle on my wedding day and were rude and I was very annoyed with them.
