      Disadvantages

Try the food if nothing else, you won't be dissapointed.

Bannatyne's hotel is located in Darlington in the North East of England. Within Darlington it is within 10 mins walk of the town centre, in a beautiful listed building, in the desirable West End of town.

The hotel is relaxed yet smartly done out and is a nice mixture of modern with period features. Rooms have large, very comfortable beds, and the usual desk, chair, wardrobe, speakers in the loo type features you expect from a hotel room.

Room prices are average for a hotel of this type, usually between £75-£110 a night. However there are very freqeuently offers and discounts available.

The main downside to Bannatyne's is a distinct lack of parking. This is especially poor on an evening when the restaurant is packed, and you have to park about 200m away down the road. In addition some of the corners are looking a bit bashed, especially in public areas, and in places I think its time for a revamp.

However, its worth fighting for parking. The food in the restaurant is divine. And, its more than reasonable. £11.95 will get you a top notch 3 course meal Monday - Thursday, £15.95 on a Friday or Saturday. This is without a doubt my favourite restaurant in the area. The menu changes daily, and produce is always fresh, and appropriate to the season. We went last week and had a lovely terrine or my partner had wild and common mushroom soup, followed by pork lion and apricot cream or venison stew, with sticky toffee pudding or strawberry panna cotta for afters. All were delicious, and there were 4 or 5 choices for each part of the menu.
