      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Convenient, clean and good value for money

As I live a good 25 minutes away from Chester, taxis can be expensive so when my boyfriend and I were invited to an engagement party we decided it would be more cost effective for us to get a hotel using my discount.

Hoole Hotel is part of the Corus Group Hotels which are owned by London Vista Hotel Ltd, part of Malayan U.I (MUI.

Corus Hotels are a mid-market hotel group with over 40 properties in the UK and 2 in Malaysia ranging from historic coaching inns to commercial hotels which are welcoming to both business and leisure clients.

Most properties have meetings and events facilities many offer leisure facilties such as a gym, sauna or swimming pools.

As a travel agent I get a good rate of £35 per room bed and breakfast, the standard cost fo the hotel rooms cost £44 per person per night, subject to availability, the only disadvantage to me having that discounted rate is that I can only book 2 weeks prior to arrival, this can cause problems as it did on this occassion. The only room available was a twin room, we decided to take it and push the beds together as the room was the cheapest around and a taxi would not cost too much to return from the city centre of Chester.

We arrived at the hotel at 3.30pm, you can actually check-in from 2pm however I was stuck in work.

The check-in process was simple, I provided a debit card should we decide to damage the room or complete a moonlight flit, we were then provided with our room keys and directed to our rooms.

The building is fairly old but has been tastefully refurbished and we were directed to a lift which took us to our room, as it was an old building there were a lot of doors in the corridors, this did lead to a lot of disturbance at night time and early in the morning but again nothing you would not expect from a hotel.

The room was twin as booked and there was plenty of storage for our small cases, the bathroom was to the left of the entrance to the room and had a bath with overhead shower, toilet and sink with large vanity mirror. Complimentary toiletries were present as with all Corus Hotels consisting of shower gel and a tablet of soap.

The rooms were traditionally decorated and rather tastefully with floral bedspreads and blankets and sheets, I was a bit disappointed that it was not a duvet as I hate layers including itchy blankets!

Another problem, my bed was higher than Mark's and his was actually softer so there was no way that we could join the two especailly as there was a table inbetween too.

Anyway we got ready and had a good night out in Chester, the room does contain a remote control television and telephone should you wish to use it, but be aware of the charges for using it.

When we arrived back at the hotel we went to Rigbys for a drink which we placed on the tab! Drinks were pretty reasonable £5.00 for a pint of stella, a malibu and diet coke and a packet of Walkers Crisps.

Breakfast was included in the cost of the room and it was a hot buffet breakfast, the food was superb I had a mighty hangover so had the full works, beans, sausage, egg, toast, mushrooms, tomato and bacon.

There was also the choice of cereals and fresh fruit you could really fill your boots.

Check-out is at 11am, you pay for your room as you leave, if you do not do this then they will use the card details provided on arrival.

You will then be provided with a recipt an itemised bill.

This hotel is ideal for a nice break to Chester, it is not filled with young people it is a more mature hotel that caters for the older generation, therefore making it that bit more relaxing, however if you are looking for a hotel that is a bit more centrally located I do recommend the Moat House located in the City Centre.

      Quick facts:-
100 car parking spaces on site
      97 bedrooms
      Check -in from 2pm
      Check -out by 11am
