A very comfortable hotel in a great location.

We booked this hotel as a stop off in London for the night before heading to Butlins Bognor Regis. It's a very long way from Merseyside and the girls wanted to see Buckingham Palace and of course visit Hamleys Toy Store.

We didn't expect much as we booked a top secret hotel through last minute.com and at a price of £95.00 for a hotel in this location I thought it was going to awful, however after quickly googling the hotel i was delighted with what we had been allocated, i did have a little panic that we may even have gone to the wrong hotel as the price we had paid didn't measure up to the standard of this hotel, I think you would probably have to pay double what we had. This hotel was fantastic from the minute the door at the entrance was opened for me by a suited doorman, to the room itself, the decor felt nostalgic in a sort of Christmassy home alone film type of style (if you know what I mean) and was very elegant. We had two double beds in the room and I had a wonderful nights sleep.

The bathroom had some lovely toiletries and very fluffy towels, although the prices in the mini bar astounded me, I'm not sure anyone would actually pay them as I certainly wouldn't. If you looked out of our window you could actually see the side view of Hyde park and we were right on the West End just around the corner from the Ritz.

There is a bar downstairs which we didn't use and apparently the night we stayed there was some celebrities eating right there on Mayfair, although I did get a little upset when looking out to see an elderly homeless couple with a dog, my daughter took our packed lunches out to them and we got them some drinks too but it was still sad whilst we were there on one side of Mayfair in a hotel that has celebreties there and they were on the other side sitting on cardboard it really makes you appreciate all we take for granted.

I would recommend this hotel as it is where you need to be and most of the tourist attractions are within walking distance. However I was shattered on getting back to our room that night because we had done a lot of walking from Buckingham palace to the London eye, round Oxford Street and of course shopping in Hamleys which took ages as the kids wanted everything :). I can't really comment on the night life as we were back in the hotel by 8pm, but I did sit whilst the kids were asleep watching the night and the lights through my window, which was lovely (might have been better had I been on the west end in some high heels and a little black dress but hhhmmm maybe one day!).

We stayed here on a Sunday night as we had booked Butlins for a Monday to Friday stay and I was glad I did as there are congestion charges that apply but on the Sunday we didn't have to pay and we also found a lovely free parking space right outside the hotel but you have to move your car by 9am the next morning I think as that is when you start getting charged. This wasn't a problem as we had to leave anyway to get to Butlins.

All in all a lovely nights stay in a posh hotel.
