“ Located on Youghal's waterfront, these new suites command superb views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Blackwater River, providing easy access to all amenities. „
Harvey's Dock self catering apartments are located on the quay in Youghal, Co. Cork. The views from the apartments are fantastic especially on a nice day. The apartments are within walking distance of the shops, bars and restaurants in the town and are ideally located where you will not need to be relying on taxis. A lot of the apartments are privately owned and you can get good deals by booking online rather than calling the reception who can sometimes be a bit vague on prices etc. My friend and I booked up last year for 4 nights around St. Patricks Day and it was under £100 for the two of us for 4 nights in a two bedroom apartment. We only actually used one of the bedrooms and the apartments are extremely spacious, clean and comfortable. I had previously stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment with a few friends and each apartment was similarly decorated although certain privately owned apartments I have seen online have been decorated and still look nice. The two bedroom apartment consisted of a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchen/dining area and lounge in one large room containing a table and six chairs and 2 sofas with a coffee table and television. The apartment also had a small balcony where we could stand out and take in the views but in our particular apartment the balcony wasn't large enough to sit out on but there are plenty of others available. The kitchen was well equipped with enough crockery and cutlery for around 6 people. There was a microwave, toaster, kettle and combined washing machine/tumble dryer. Everything was in good condition and the kitchen is well equipped for self catering holidaymakers. There are a good few cafes and restaurants around locally if you would rather eat out and also a couple of supermarkets only a couple of minutes walk away. On one occasion staying here we were charged for electricity when leaving, although it wasn't much at all so we didn't mind. However the last time I was here they did not charge for electric so I am not sure if this has to do with booking direct with the owner. The apartments have always been extremely clean when I have stayed here and the carpeted staircases and landing areas are the same. They have always provided plenty of bed linen and towels for the duration of the stay and I can't complain. Prices vary quite a lot depending on the time of year, how big the apartment is and where you book. The summer rates seem to range between 400-600 euros per week. Taking into consideration the size of the apartments this seems good value comparing with hotels in the area. I know quite a few people who have stayed here before on numerous occasions and keep returning which is always a good sign. The only grumble I ever had is that the reception area is very small and there doesn't seem to be people there all the time to assist you if you had any questions or problems and you could have to wait until the following day to see someone although I am sure they have a contact number for if you have any drastic issues. We have never had to wait for an apartment to be ready and have always been given the key to our room straight away. Also due to there being no lifts in these apartments it may not be suitable for those with walking difficulties, I would strongly advise anybody to contact the owner or reception to check if a ground floor apartment is available before booking. I would definitely use these apartments again as they are so comfortable, central and the views are outstanding.
