I stayed in the Erskine Bridge Hotel for 1 night in August of this year (2011), prior to my summer holiday. We booked the hotel through the holiday extra's website, which I have used many times before to book airport parking. There were two reasons why we booked this hotel, one was the price and the other was the location. We had an early morning chartered flight to catch from Glasgow Airport so wanted to stay somewhere close by. It cost £45 to park the car for 14 nights plus 1 nights accommodation. This seemed too good to be true as this was working out cheaper than some long stay car parks by themselves and to be honest, it was. From the outside the hotel looks tired and old, but first impressions can often be deceiving. I believe that Holiday Extra's rates this hotel as a 4 star, so was prepared to look past the 1980's exterior with a hope that something nicer lurked within. However, I was to enter a tired looking lobby, this wasn't looking good. I got into the lift and we go up to the bedroom. Again the hallways look a little run don't he carpets and wallpaper have both seen better days. The room was exactly the same. The wallpaper was peeling away from the walls at the bottom and the furniture in the room had seen better days. The bed in the room was one of the most uncomfortable I have had the misfortune of sleeping on. It was so soft that I slid into the middle of the bed if I was lying on my side. In terms of the hotel's location to the airport, it is about a 10 - 15 minute drive away. There is an hourly shuttle service, which is complementary and you call the shuttle on your return to arrange a collection. The actual parking of the car and shuttle service was the part of the experience that met my expectations. The 4 star rating is absolutely scandalous in my opinion. I have stayed in 3 star hotels which are much, much nicer. The hotel is in need of a complete over haul in my view. I won't be returning to the Erskine Bridge Hotel and I would not be recommending it to anyone.
