      Overall an average hotel - I've stayed in better and cheaper

      We stayed in this hotel with a small group of friends whilst on a weekend away to Nottingham and we chose the Best Western as we know their reputation is good and the website quoted they had more facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly, could not fault the service we received here. The room and the hotel in general was also very clean. The bedrooms looked like they had recently been modernised and they were a pleasure to stay in. However, the rest of the hotel is dated. It did not look unclean or like it was falling apart but it could certaintly do with some modernisation like the bedrooms have had. The bar and restraunt were abit 'old man pub'. The hotel advertised spa treatments which is one of the reasons we opted for this hote so me and my friend could have some lovely relaxing treatments whilst the boys did their boy things! This was run by a company called 'Nottingham Revive' and you could either book direct through them of via the hotel. Now I would expect from a hotel that advertises a spa for them to have a specific spa room with the candles and atmosphere etc. However, when we were greeting in reception we were took to a very dated meeting room where two massage tables had been set up. The room itself had chairs and tables stacked up the walls and meeting refreshments so it is clearly used as a meeting/storage room normally. It was hardly a relaxing atmosphere to have your treatments. We also had the treatments in the same room so had to get undressed infront of each other which not every one is comfortable is with. I have to say the ladies who had come from Nottingahm revive gave an outstanding massage but the whole room let the experience down. I almost felt ripped off paying such a high price for the treatments which were not carried out is a spa centre. This was not made clear on the website or at any point through the booking process, if I had know this we probably would have gone to Nottinghame Revive centre itself rather than the hotel. On the plus side it is a convenience having it at the hotel but i think they need to look at setting up a specialised area for customer use if they are going to advertise the hotel as having a spa. We ate one of the night at the hotel and the food was lovely. It may have looked like your basic lasagne but it tasted delicious and the food was piping hot. I though the food price was reasonable for the quality you got. However, the drinks are expensive but this is often typical of hotels. After such a lovely dinner meal I did feel let down on the breakfast. It was a very minimal self serve buffet breakfast with eggs, mushroom, tomotoe, sausage, bacon and from what i was told rock solid black pudding. As a vegetarian there was no vegetarian option. I have stayed at much much cheaper hotels/BnB's and had the option of vegetarian sausages, hash browns, fish. For the price we paid for this I was very disspointed in. They brough toast to your table but this varied day to day on how much you received. There was also a continental option which consitited of yoghurt, prunes, oranges and 3 cereals. Again very disspointing. From a continental I would at least expect a full fruit salad and again for the price I'm sure a selection of breads/coissants would have been better than waiters bringing over limited toast. Overall I have to say the breakfast experience really let this hotel down, for the price you pay and the quality of these hotels they could do alot more with this and I have stayed at other hotel chains which are cheaper and provide a much better breakfast option. Overall i found this hotel average but again I must state the staff here were very friendly and very helpful.
