Newquay is an adorable town with great beaches, fantastic surfing and cool clubs and pubs, I only wish I had stayed in the town. Unfortunately Smugglers Haven did not turn out to be the 18-30 club atmosphere holiday park, it was made out to be. In the brochure it was sunny and pictures were laiden with drink cans and bottles, the caravans spaced out and clean with views of the sea. well not quite what we expected. sharing a chalet with 9 other people seems quite brave alone but sharing in a chalet with - holes in the walls, damp bedding, windows not opening, broken beds and in this case the lack of a door on one bedroom it was quite a lot to take. yet do not let this put you off going to Newquay. Buses are cheap and run fequently, clubs are live ( The Walkabout, Australian theme club, with excellent food and atmosphere) and beaches are nice and sandy, perfect....when it's sunny.

Newquay - Great place very busy and very nice - great pubs, great clubs and good restaurants especially the outback pub/night club/restaurant which has superb Australian food and is not a bad night club. Enough of Newquay its self, I shall talk were we stayed in Newquay. It was a sort of 18-30 caravan/chalet site which comprised of many supped up fiestas, "great". But anyway there were nine of us staying in one of the chalets and we all know why there were no pictures of the chalet in the broucher, well you see we got in the place :- there were hundreds of holes in the walls, nothing had been aired so everything was damp, the toilet did not work and would leek, there was mildrew on a lot of the bed sheets, the windows would shut properly, one of the beds were broken, doors were missing on rooms, If I say anything more I shall be known as Mr Moaney and I haven't really began to start getting annoyed. Im sure the caravans were nice, but if you go stay away from the chalets.

For the last couple of years we’ve been spending a week in Newquay in October. Being fair weather campers and as we like to take our dog, we opted for renting a caravan. Trevelgue Holiday Park is ideal. During October it costs around £99 for the two of us to rent an eight berth caravan (they only allow dogs in the larger caravans) for a week. The caravans have 2 rooms, 3 beds in one, a double bed in the other and the lounge converts to a double and a single. The cost includes the electricity and gas which is brilliant, especially at that time of year when you need the heating on. The park has a small arcade, and fish and chip shop, a nightclub etc. Having only been there in autumn when the majority of it is closed, I can’t tell you more but check out the website. However it is set back about a mile and a half from the coast in a valley which is beautiful. It takes about half an hour (ok I walk slowly!) to the headland which is awesome. From the end you can see all up and down the coast and check out the local surfers! The town of Porth has some shops, another campsite and a pub. There’s local buses into Newquay which is really not far and the taxis don’t cost that much. I’d give this campsite a thumbs up if you want to rent a cheap and cheerful caravan out of season – we’ll be going back again this year and the dog can’t wait! www.cranstar.co.uk/trevelgu.htm
