The Ikea Flower Wall Light is a great lighting option, especially for children's bedrooms. It is easy to hang, looks great and is a very reasonable price, as you'd expect from Ikea.

      ikea wall light for girls

The nearest Ikea to me is a 45minute-1hour drive away from home. I don't get to go there very often so when I do, I plan it way in advance and make sure I have a purse full of money for the trip there and my dad will usually clear his boot out so we have plenty of room to fill it. I don't have a car either so I usually go if someone else wants to go or just for something to do. When Hollie was 2, I went to Ikea with my dad as he wanted to go and look at the wardrobes and I wanted some storage boxes. We ended up both coming out with lots of random things and this being one of those. Whilst walking around the children's section, I spotted this light in one of the set up "show bedrooms" and instantly wanted one for Hollie's room. ****Smila Blomma flower light**** ============================ I bought this for £4.99 2 years ago in Ikea Milton Keynes. I needed to buy some bulbs to go with it as this didn't come with any but Ikea do their own range of bulbs which are much cheaper than the supermarkets. They have a variety of these wall lights including a red heart which I nearly bought instead. Getting it home I unwrapped it from the packaging and placed the bulb into the back of the light. It's very basic and doesn't need much doing to it. It came with a wall plug and screw but as it was a rented property we lived in, we didn't want to use that so we just used a small nail and hammered it into the wall and placed the flower onto the nail. It held it very well and looked lovely hanging on the wall. I plugged it into the wall socket with the long green wire which is a beautiful colour to represent the stork of a flower. When switching it on with the on off switch which is on the wire cable it lit the room up pink and made the room feel very relaxed and very girly. Hollie was very excited with this light. It was so much more cost effective for me to use this in her room rather than to leave the landing lights on at night when Hollie slept. We would tuck her in at night and turn off the light so to save us some money on electricity. The light wasn't too bright. It was the perfect brightness for it to be a night light. Now we have moved house I haven't put it up on the wall in the new place. Hollie is more of a tom boy and would prefer something which goes with the theme of her room. She loves anything to do with space and robots so we will see if we can get a lamp to go with her own taste. I will keep the flower light for when she is older and goes back to being more girly and wants a pink room as this would be perfect for her then. I would say this light can be for any aged girl. From a baby all the way to teenage years. I love how the room looks so serene and calming with the pink light and it also created a sleepy environment for Hollie and helped her sleep well. It was such a bargain at £4.99 and they had other shapes and colours to choose from and boy versions too which they are still selling as I went back there not too long ago and spotted them for sale. I give this light 5/5 stars for being an excellent bargain product and gave the the results I wanted for a light for Hollie's room. Thanks for reading my review Helen190390

        great value

I decorated my daughter's room in Novemeber and also purchased her the Ikea Mammut furniture which is red and pink in colour. I was looking for some lights to match the room and I came across these in the children's section in Ikea for just £6 each. I bought this flower and also a red heart. In store there was also a green bug, a yellow moon and a blue star that I noticed so there is a choice for boys too. The light comes in a simple plastic wrapper. You don't get any bulbs with this lamp so you will need to purchase these separately. Ikea have them next to the lamps in packs of two. I think that they cost around £5. I am sure that you can get bulbs elsewhere. Once we got the light home I removed the plastic to find the instructions which were basic and easy to follow. The lamp comes with a bulb holder which you attach to the wall and this is the part that also holds the cable. Some screws and finally the flower cover. The instructions do show that you need to screw it to the wall which filled me with dread as I hate the drill and I am too scared to use it. Instead I used picture nails which hold it just as securely. Once you have secured the bulb holder to the wall you then need to attach the flower to the plastic holder. Once this is done you then screw the case to the holder so that it cannot be removed by your child. The flower has a green wire which I think is a very nice touch. There is also a lot of detailing on the flower around the centre and on the petals. The bulb when it is lit is not too bright, this makes it perfect for use as a night light, my daughter will happily fall asleep with the light on as it emmits a pale pink glow. She can also easily turn this on and off herself with no problem. Sometimes if she wakes up in the night she will switch it on to find her juice. I think these lights are good value for money, they look great on the wall and there is a good selection available. 5 out of 5 from us.

A gorgeous looking light to set of a little girls bedroom

I have recently decorated my sitting room and instead of shopping from Argos as I usually would I went to ikea instead and I was amazed with all the fab products on sale and the quality of the display goods. I bought most of my new sitting room items from ikea so when it came to doing my daughter's room I went to ikea for some ideas and I came across a fab looking light for £6.00 and I had to buy it. The light comes in a basic clear plastic wrapper that shapes the product, nothing more or less. The light is pink in colour and shaped like a flower with detailing to the centre piece for effect. The petals also have lined detail and pointed petals to make the flower look very pretty and also unusual as I have never seen anything quite like this before. The wiring on the light is green in colour and the wire contains a button in which the light can be switched on or off. Considering the wire is green it looks fantastic if the plug is underneath the light as the wire looks like a stalk coming from the flower. One of these lights can be used on the wall and look great however by using a few of these flowers at different heights you can create a bouquet effect that will brighten up and make a feature from any wall especially a little girls bedroom. Here are some of the important features: Smila blomma creation Wall mountable light Suitable for use with energy saver bulb of 25w to create a soothing night light glow. This product has to be assembled however it is so simple that instructions aren't needed. If you do require a little help then you can find the product on the ikea website and download instructions from there. You basically unravel the wire and screw in the bulb, once screwed in you have to attach the back onto the flower and attach by 3 screws into the wall. I found it easier to attach the back compartment to the wall then clip it to the front once secured. This light looks gorgeous in the room and it always gets compliments, as far as a night light goes you couldn't get any better, the room has a pinkish glow due to the decorations as well and is light enough to create a subtle glow that's isn't too bright so kids can't get to sleep. I would certainly recommend this light especially for the price and I have never had any worries or complaints about it.

          A great light!

*My intro*: Last year, we decided to move Lauren into the bigger spare room from the box room. I decided on a pink theme and wanted a little bedside table light for when it was story time at night. On one of my many trips to Ikea, I spotted the Smila Blomma pink flower shaped wall light. *Price and Availability:* The price is currently £5.79 and it available to order both online and instore, you can also check stock levels on Ikea's website of your local store but when I brought mine, there was loads of these in stock. *The product:* The light is in the shape of a flower and is really pretty to look at, the wire is green to give it the effect of being the stem. The flower itself measures about 7.5cm deep and 34cm across. You can user energy saving light bulbs in the product, although I am a big fan of Ikea, I didn't buy my bulbs from here as I find them a little expensive, I tend to buy them from Wilko's. *The Range*: Also in the range is a blue star, yellow ladybird and a red heart. *Installation*: Installation was really easy, just remove the outer packaging, pop a bulb in and plug in. It was really easy to attach to the wall, the flower has a small hole on the back similar to that on a photo frame or picture, so I just put a small nail into the wall and hung it up. I have accidentally knocked it a couple of times and it has never fallen down. *My opinion:* I am really pleased with the product, it looks beautiful on Laurens wall next to her bed. On the cord, there is a simple on/off switch which makes it easy for her to operate should she need to go to the toilet in the nights. Another good advantage I found was that the cord was 2.5 meters long, her bed wasn't particularly near a plug socket yet with this long cable, there was no need for an extension lead. Because the plastic is pink, when turned on it gives a nice warm glow to the room, light enough to still be able to read a bedtime story yet not too bright to keep you awake should it get left on by accident. If I had seen this when Lauren was a baby, I would have probably purchased with a lower wattage bulb to use as a night light in her nursery. I would recommend this product to anyone and would give it 5 out of 5 stars. Thanks for reading. Review may be on other sites under the same user name.

          A cool lamp :)

Having recently moved to university it's all about 'pimping your pad' with anything that screams tacky and which can attempt to help you to regress to childhood times-especially if your home sick! So I couldn't pass up the opportunity to pick this wall lamp up from IKEA. The design is very pink and girly so ideal for every girls bedroom old or young! And especially for the young it is very safe as it cannot be tampered with although the light does get quite warm if touched it doesn't heat up enough to cause any damage! Depth: 7.5 Diameter: 34 Cord Length: 2.5m The only design issue i encountered is the short cord length so if you required this light to be a reading light of a night light that is out of the question unless the bed is beside a plug socket! The auror of the lamp was a soft pink glow so could quite easily make a night light for younger children and it is a perfect way to jazz up a bedroom. The lightbulbs required are Chandelier bulb E14 Max 25W the problem is these are very hard to find- a quick google search proves this! I paid £5.10 for the lamp which is very reasonably priced and given that it is well made its definitely a bargain! An item I definitely won't be throwing out after my year at university is over.

I have recently redecorated my little girls bedroom and changed it from a baby's nursery into a proper little girls room. One thing I wanted for her room was a nice lamp so I wouldn't have to leave the big light on at night time, but at the same time I didn't want her to have a light there that she would be able to mess with so I really wasn't sure what to go for. One afternoon my friend asked me if I could possibly take her to Ikea as she was moving house and needed bits and pieces so I jumped at the chance - any reason to go to Ikea is good with me!! Once there we went through the childrens bedroom section and I saw some lovely flower shaped wall lights which came in either a white or pink option. A closer look at the light showed me that it was just perfect for what I was looking for! As I had decorated her room with pale pink paint I chose the pink flower. The cord of the light is green so it looks like a flower stem. The light is easily fixed to the wall, and I put mine up just like I would hang a picture, with a nail in the wall and then just hang the light on it. The light requires a small bulb which you can either purchase from Ikea or alternatively from a shop that sells bulbs (I get mine from the pound shop!) and it is turned on and off by a small switch which is located about halfway down the wire. It is good to know with this light that it is compatible with energy saving bulbs also. When the light was fitted to the wall, I made the wire slightly wavy so it looked more like a flower stem on the wall and fixed it into place with wire clips so it wouldn't just hang down loosely. The light is a really soft light, but of course that does depend on which strength of bulb you decide to go for, I personally chose 40 watt as it is really only to be used as a nightlight for my daughters room. However, even though it is a low watt bulb and it glows slightly pink I am still able to read her a bedtime story with that light and it doesn't strain my eyes at all. The light is made out of plastic and though it may at first appear a bit flimsy it really isn't, it is quite a good quality but once it is up on the wall it stays up so there is no risk really of breakage. The size of the light is 34cm diameter and the depth is 7.5cm, the cord length is 2.5m which is good to make a stem effect. The lights cost just £4.99 which I personally think is an absolutely fantastic price for such a great item for a childs bedroom! The bulb does cost extra as I say, but at that price you can't really complain. There are other shapes in the range, a yellow ladybug, a blue star, and a yellow moon. I think all of these are lovely and would look fab in any childs bedroom. I would recommend this light as it is a good quality light and looks just lovely on the wall, really effective. I think it is ideal for children and adults alike!!! The wall light has to have five out of five Dooyoo stars! Thank you for reading my review :)
